What division do I belong in: I do think I belong in legendary but there is a pretty big skill gap between me and pro league players.

You know what, given that the skill gap between pro league players and the rest are so high, lets assume they are one division above legendary.

I doubt you’ll get many, they’re tired of being told they’re wrong by people that have never experienced what they have. This poll is just a kitten for people that ride win streaks.

That’s why there’s a questions of do you believe in MMR hell and where they think they should be? If they truly believe there is MMR hell, then at least tell the people where they think they should be.

Based on your previous posts, I’ll answer for you

MMR Hell: yes
current: sapphire
proposed: diamond

I believe that we should be on whatever rank the matchmaker chooses for us since it’s a team game and you are only as good as your weakest link. So if the match makers picks you good teammates(thanks to high mmr) that contribute and help you to win you should be like diamond or higher, and if it decides you should get the worst players in the game as your teammates who have no desire to capture points(thanks to low mmr) then you should be around amber or emerald, and if it decides you should get average players who know how to play but just not very good at team work you should be sapphire or ruby.
And if you have an organized premade team, then there’s no excuse for not being legendary( especially if you’re a 4 person premade, because those get to farm unorganized solo players)
As for me, on my main account that has HoT I’m very happy with not having any pvp rank tag at all, I’m like totally ecstatic about that actually, and if they never give us an option of removing that dreadfully ugly tag I’ll never play ranked again, not like I want to anyways since my mmr is rock bottom….

My MMR is so low, according to the system apparently, that I don’t even deserve to wear the amber tag.

I’m on the last tier of sapphire for over a month now which really makes me feel ashamed of myself and I really shouldn’t be there at all because I’ve been fed to much better teams than the ones I’m set on.

I guess it was too much asking for matches with equal chances of winning/losing…. I thought wrong.

Just take a break. I had several sapphire > ruby matches bugging up on me. Made me believe there is a system in place to hold people back. Went from 68% winrate to 55%. It kinda annoyed me, so I took a break. Now I started up again last night and won all my matches shooting up to ruby..

The problem is that this is a team game and that my preferred toon is a thief. Many people still insist on doing the thief job when I’m around. And they mix up rotations in a way that I couldn’t ‘make up’ for them.. I’m sure a pro league thief could, but I can only play 10 games a week or so..

Feels like every game i finish on top (or close to). I know the leaderboard at the end of the game doesnt really mean much or display skill. i always try to give myself and the team the best chance of winning and i dont think my MMR or rank displays that..

No. Not really. I mean, I believe there is a point in which one finds their skill at-par with their matchmaking, and becomes unable to progress without getting better. However, I do not blame the game for that situation.

Truthfully, I am unsure. If this game had a larger playerbase with more grueling division placement, I probably wouldn’t get past Ruby. However, with the way that one can get “saved” by tier locks in early divisions, and the indirect ability to ride wins off of scrub opponents, I think Diamond suits me just fine.

Does MMR Hell Exist
To an extent*. I got placed with really bad players on both sides (allies and enemies), and during my first six games, no matter how many times I won my fights, 1v1, 1v2, it wasn’t enough for my allies to win, and so I changed my build to one that is less survivable, but made a stronger impact (offense) against the enemy team, and was able to start winning 1v3s. Allies started being able to win their 4v2s and have been able to maintain a 65% win-ratio over 114 games since.

Where do I think I belong
Probably Diamond at the end of the season (not this season, just in general), through regular play. If I were to push for it, I should get Legendary. As it is now, I think progression is potentially a little bit too easy. Around Diamond they should lower the tier requirements (probably down to 5) and remove the win streak bonus pips.

How do I think the player base end distribution should end up at by the end of the season (and after at least 10-15 games, to filter out people who don’t make it out of amber and then quit):

I honestly don’t know but at least Ruby since I made it the previous two seasons too and did beat an exalted legend 1v1 on point once with a thief but they might not have been ideally built for 1v1’ing and I got a backstab in so I don’t know how reliable of a measure that is.

Technically no, but the matchmaking algorithm has created a form of one. In any truly competitive game, MMR hell does not exist assuming the teams are either even or gain/loss is normalized based on the difference in skill. Given that season 3 is entirely based around matching teams up against other teams that are significantly better or worse than their own, yet pip reward or loss remains constant, no argument can rightfully be made that there is no form of MMR heaven or hell.

well i’m obviously from the entitled generation, i expect a gold star after every attempt.
refusal of said star is a violation of my safe space.

Seriously though. from my understanding they have it set up so it’s not a 50/50 match up, it’s more like 70-30 60/40 ect. now in theory you can “Win” the unwinnable fight’s but due to Class comp that becomes impossible for some matches.

alot of people don’t realize how the MMR system is set up. you can have an inactive / new account streak through the pips because it has an inflated mmr (which mean’s it’s getting the 70-30 matchups in it’s favor) now this inflated MMR eventually vanishes after a certain amount of games. this is dropping player’s into tier’s they don’t belong in. When you get enough of these player’s you get Mmr Hell.

they had the same problem with the old solo q teamq board. you would see people with under 20 games in the top 100

It’s pretty obvious if you pick up on subtext. You, personally, may not care either way, but this is not a “Let’s be objective and find out what people really think” type of survey. Here are a few clues:

Post is beating a dead horse, phrases like “crying of MMR Hell” / “nobody believes they should be in sapphire”, assuming people who acknowledge MMR Hell must be experiencing it currently (as though it were merely a common complaint from noobs rather than an actual problem that may exist), asking for players’ names which invites people who’ve seen them ingame to call them out (whether accurately or not) in the forum, etc.

Oh sweety, but I did participate in leagues (got to diamond in season 1) at least enough to see my very high win rate go down to a 0 % win rate, then started reading forums and found out about mmr which I had no clue what it was and how it screws you over when it gets too low, THEN decided to not play it any more (except for on my alt account, still play ranked on my alt some since I don’t care if I have an ugly pvp tag on that account)
Oh and I’ve been playing ranked pvp since this game came out, so don’t say I don’t participate….

This season? No. Hit a bit of a wall in ruby thanks to afkers and people that preferred to type more than play, but meh.

Last season: A bit, but not as bad as many that where having issues. From my own personal experience last season, there was a drastic difference in the types of matches you would get depending on which side of the curve your personal mmr was on. If you solo q’ed, this could kick you in the teeth quite easily. However, if you had people you could q with, you could bypass this issue to some extent. The run to diamond on my main vs my alt was as different as night and day, which was super frustrating.

T2 Ruby.

Honestly? No clue. A guess based on where I clawed my way to last couple of seasons – Mid to high Ruby maybe. Probably could have stubbornly hauled myself there again this season had I not stopped playing ranked 2-3 weeks ago. However, I’d met my back piece requirements, there was no further need to subject myself to the depravity that is currently ruby. So I just went back to playing unranked. So much less stress.

I played a game with Faux the other day, he spent the entire game on a support druid trying to decap far when we had a thief that couldn’t do his job because of it.

I’d say he would be a good candidate for Sapphire.

Let me guess you were the warrior that camped home the whole match. Odd the thief didn’t have any issues about what I was doing.

I do belive in MMR hell, I was stuck in it at the first season, sapphire or emerald hell.
On the second season I managed with great effort to go to legendary.

On the current season I have a 90% win rate.

What I did : I stopped grouping, I stopped playing, I got good with other classes, I played only meta.
