Salt is the heart of all PvP
Just an fyi, its reduced sodium in WvW (compared to PvP) with more things to cap and ppl to fight

You’re talking to a wall. The only thing humans focus on is problems, no matter how trivial those problems are, or how well off the person already is.
No matter how hard the devs try, players will always find something to complain about. And this is a good thing. The fact that players are never content is what drives all the improvement in game design that the industry has seen over the years. If players where not such a bunch of ungrateful sods, we’d still be making games the same way we did in the 90s.

No, just no, after wvw patch i went there to check out the changes. Ofc, there were few wvw zombies attacking me and dying but whispers i got from them were glorious. Not in a good way. There was more salt in one day of wvw than in entire season of pvp for me and i play thief, which is probably most hated profession in pvp atm, so it says something.

People must not like you then :p
I main WvW (little PvP) and the ratio of PvP toxicity to WvW toxicity would be close to 8:1 (at least for me anyway, and what I see). Maybe its not as bad for me where I /bow after my kills to show respect for a good fight?
I personally get MAYBE 1 whisper every 2 week and maybe see a toxic act once/twice a day while running for 2-3 hours) where in PvP its after every 4-5 matches.
WvW also depends on what server were up against as there are weeks I see no toxic/salty behavior

I didn’t ask them to follow me! They attacked me and i just defended myself ._.
I do not /bow however. Too lazy for that (not to mention, they didn’t deserve it).

Unlike other game modes, pvp is a game mode where half the participants will lose in every engagement. Some players simply lack the maturity or perspective to accept losing and have to act out or blame others.

More reason to /bow…more of a "Nice try, gf " kind of gesture lol

I think allowing match manipulators and afkers to cost you 2 to 3 games worth of ratings. And while they go unpunished you lose most of your progress to them in more then half your matches. And being the majority of the population is the whole of the problems for sPvP.
Also GW2’s is the only PvP rated system I’ve played recently. That puts your ratings against the whole enemy teams. Meaning you are really fighting a 1v5 matches expecting to win. While going against unfair match ups way above your pay grade yet lose, again 2 to 3 games worth of progress on a losing a no chance stacked deck match.
GW2’s PvP not even counting the players attitudes. Is one of the most unfair, and most toxic system I’ve played recently. It’s just as toxic as playing blackjack at a casino where the dealer is pro at cheating.
People simply experience this and then for the most part move on to much competitive systems. Others complain about this system. Others who are fed by the system tell others to shut up and leave, or stop complaining.
People don’t have to say a thing about GW2’s sPvP is dying. People for the most part are not that stupid. They come in. See and experience how counter productive the system it self is towards a competitive PvP environment. And then they leave without a trace. Without even reading a single review on the matter.
TL/DR
Yes competitive PvP is toxic naturally. How ever in other PvP systems players are not fighting against stacked decks and cheaters, and bots in most of their matches in Ranked PvP. Like they are in GW2’s Ranked. Which makes this PvP system not only more toxic by default, but also not at all fun nor entertaining. Meaning players will not stick around for long. Meaning less and less player willing to play over time.
But at least I admit it!
PoF guys get ready for PvE joys
EMBRACE THE SALT.
This mindset is why pvp was dead right out the gate. Anet did exactly that, and created and reinforced a toxic community with every single pvp-affecting patch. Why? Because a handful of other esports games like LoL did at the time.
It’s irreparable at this point, but good sportsmanship and respect makes for a much healthier competitive environment. The only reason there is to embrace salt at this point is that you’re not gonna be seeing any moves from Anet to deal with it at this point…
