I’d like to talk about the connection between these two things. If PvP is going to have more modes besides conquest, it’s vital that players be able to adapt their builds to the type of match they’re in. There is already an example of why we need this, and it is Courtyard. When Courtyard comes up in unranked, it causes havoc for builds and team comps. Lots of builds that fulfill specific Conquest roles are ineffective in Team Deathmatch. AI type builds like Turret Engis and MM necros come to mind, but so do 1v1 and side point builds like condi ranger. Other builds like spirit ranger and bunkers become paramount. Being able to swap builds quickly and easily is important, and it will be more important with Stronghold (and other game modes).
Anet likely didn’t want to remove the armor stats entirely because…well,
we’ve all seen what happens in games where there’s no disadvantage to taking your pants off.
no sane person would argue against having a personal build library.
just as long as more slots for builds don’t cost gems.
