Screenshot Casual Elementalist ~50% effective
if you’re not an extreme genius team carrier a win% of 50 is about normal.
ele is quite good in this meta unlike the last one. i don’t know what build you play but usually celestial d/d 0 0 2 6 6 does its job well enough even for casual players.
did you play team arena with solo join or premade team? this can make a huge difference. good teams lose less often and have therefore a higher win percentage.
what could be beneficial for you is if you played every class and their meta builds a bit so that you get a general knowledge of combos, rotations and whatsoever. it won’t make an exorbitant difference but it does help.
other than that, gz on reaching 80.
If you mean how can you have averag winrate after soo long….. then youre wrong.
1) ele was 1st OP, then UP, now its good…. you may have some lower scores from the bad times
2) the real point: 50% is great… it means the matchmaking system is working. Youre playing with and against equaly skilled players. Sadly there are no rewars for playing at better rating(leaderboards) yet.
If youre playing hotjoin….. then I wont comment on how bad it is and that nobody actualy goes for wins but just kills and build testing….. but i will say, that is is basicaly chaotic… and as such, on the long run the dice rolls 50/50
tl,dr: youre not a newbie, gratz on reaching dragon
Grats on the accomplishment.
Awesome you found fun even in the darkest of ele times.
I used to run the Academy Gaming tournaments for GW2.
You can see in the screenshot that I played tPvP, SoloQ and hotjoin, but mostly team arena and SoloQ.
I must state again that I did not farm for glory and/or ranking, so hotjoin was not my favorite choice of play (I do however like custom arenas in PvP events organized by guild).
I am aware that many factors come into play when interpreting that data, but overall according to the screenshot provided, the obvious truth remains: elementalist is below 50% effective in PvP.
I do not play only elementalist profession for statistic or feedback purposes, I play it because I like it for it’s many spells (I came from WoW, priest), I like it for it’s difficulty, and because I do not have the time to learn everything (again, 31 years casual player with a job and family).
Thank you for the comments so far in a peaceful and respectful manner.
Wait wait wait wait
Let me just get this straight…
You think because you won less than 50% of your games on an elementalist that “Elementalist is below 50% effective in pvp”
What the kitten
You can’t make a general statement off of one person they have these things called studies where you accumulate a lot of data and interpret it not just one schmuk who played ele.
Elementalist is actually very strong right now specifically dd lee. How about instead of blaming your profession for your win rate you just get better at it and don’t post stupid kitten on the forums.
Yeah I don’t get this thread.
Casually playing random pvp matches hardly constitutes any real level of comparitive effectiveness. Even over the course of 2 years.
The fact remains, it’s drawn from experiences in a random environment.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…

I did not play only random PvP matches, I love to play much tPvP with Teamspeak (read screenshot).
My 50% can not be interpreted as a general experience. Possibly there may be Elementalists with more than 3000 games and 100% win.
I am curious, are there any other elementalists with more than 50% win over multiple games (team and/or random)?
(edited by Acrisor.8097)
^ Yes there are many elementalists who are better than you and have a higher win rate.
You proved nothing jhon snow!

OK. Great elementalist players out there, can you please provide screenshots of your PvP panel to see the number of games won and lost. I am curious to see how you did and learn from your experience.
I suggest watching Zoose, he is quite entertaining.

Here is a link to his twitch. I’m sure if you asked him he would show his panel during a stream. GL

of a vanquished opponent.
If I took Josre, zoose, wakkey, and cmc as a sample one might think ele is super OP.
Your experience playing casually has little use when comparing balance that matters most at high level play. Only at the point where a player’s personal skill can no longer improve does balance have effects that can not be overcome by playing better.
If we buff ele you go to a bit over 50% win/loss.
Where does Josre and his 63% win/loss in solo queue over 1900 games go?
I don’t get the point of this thread. A casual ele got 50%. Ok. So what? That means matchmaking is working as intended? Ele takes effort to be above 50%? Not sure what you want here. As said above me, many players can play ele at a high level well above 50% so major buffs are not necessary. Too many unknown factors to know whether or not your 50% actually means anything about the ele class or your play/skill.

I mean…I’m just interpreting this as you’re an average player, and therefor have average success in tournaments. This presents itself as a 50% winrate.
So what you’re saying, is that all I have to do to “prove” that Necromancer is bad and needs buffs is to play my casual 0/0/0/0/0 rampager staff (no other weapon, staff 2gud) build a few thousand times and then take a screenshot of my 10% winrate. Because for all we know that’s exactly what you’ve been doing, playing a garbage build badly and aren’t capable of having a higher winrate.
This doesn’t prove anything, except that you are just a casual player who obviously hasn’t reached the skill cap of the profession.
Hey Acrisor, and gratz on your rank 80!
Now when watching your beautiful purple ring, just thinking, maybe this is your problem. After so many games on your ele I guess you have somehow mastered your class. But this is PvP and it’s important also to know your opponents. Dueling is okay, but the best way to know what to expect from any class is to play this class. I think playing another professions will help you to improve your ele in PvP.
A good match making system will put you against equal opponents, so maybe your win rate is simply good matchmaking.
Weird thread, lol.
50% winrate only says something about the matchmaking system, not your skill.
matchmaking is made so that you’re matched against equally skilled people which, statiscally means you should get a 50% winrate. It doesn’t say whether our good or bad. It says you’ve been matched against equally good or equally bad players.
Are there eles with more than 50%? Of course.
I have a 60% winrate in SoloQ , 53% teamQ, 55% or so in total.
I play very casually. I played about 10 matches per week or so for a year till my son was born 8 months ago. from them I play maybe 5 tourneys or less in a month? I’m still top 600 on the leaderboard, coming from top 100.
Does this say something about skill? Maybe. Or maybe I just play at random times where the system has trouble finding people with equal MMR, and broadens its search more :P
However, I do want to congratulate you on rank 80! I am jealous of that

If matchmaking is doing its job right, you must have ~50% win rate. Only difference is, with bad skills – you will have worse opponents, but you will win 50% of times. If you are good, mm will put more skillful opponents and you will win 50% of times.
Only if you have bad experience (opponents are much worse than you – no fun, or opponents are much better than you – no fun), you will have big deflection and it means – matchmaking is bad.
