The only issue right now is population, and we need something that isn’t “rewards” to get people who aren’t pvp nerds like me to play.

As for this… this is not too shabby of an idea. I hear ye, elite specs are one of the selling points but they do good in WvW/PvE and whatnot. But as for PvP it is one of the elements that participated in making PvP how it is now, which is a powercreep fest.
Maybe not removing but temporarily blocking elite specs for beta testing, could give us some insight on where to start balancing it out (be it nerfing elites or buffing cores). Maybe add an additional match option in unranked that turns off elite specs, I dunno (though it might not work that well due to already low PvP playerbase)

how would you figure out how to balance the core specs by removing the elite specs? Think about it…. removing the elite specs essentially removes the entire meta… so sure maybe the core classes get balanced with each other but no balancing vs the elite specs means theyd most likely still get smoked. The elite specs are here to stay, what they need to do give core classes some kind of Jack of all trades buff

You’re missing the point. I’m pretty sure the people calling for removal of elite specs play them. Elite specs kill the fun and skillful play that the game used to have. The risk/reward balance on elite specs is terrible; it favors spamming and gives you too many ways to completely and easily cover for repeated mistakes.

Noob vs Vet will always be an issue in any PvP game. Its beyond me why you think this is a GW2 issue, it’s not. It’s a pvp issue. Any game that’s been around a while will be hard for noobs to get into.

1.They are resources for enemy resurrection.
2.They can’t make any kill or damage or pressure in whole game because they can’t find the window of GW2 sustain rotation systam – block block block etc .
3.They can die in a sec because 14 stacks burn condi etc.

In other game, newbie even can make damage or assistance. But in gw2, pls let them leave me alone. I don’t want to see enemies revival more.

Idk man, ive coached a bunch of people in pvp. Some people can never really get the hang of it, but others, some who just play league can get their head around the builds & classes easily. I find its really down to the person, & their experince w rpg pvp in general. Gw2 seems to be really hard to learn for some people, & not so much for others. Still, a bit of coaching & some 1v1s can make a massive difference. I feel the game gets much easier when you start thinking of skills as their effect, not as their animations or skill names.

The sustain rotation, & blocks being an issue are not actually all that hard to get around. Unblockable skills are actually really common, so its really easy to get through blocks if you can save cooldowns.

Obviously, a lot of players are morons, & are not worth having on your team. Hence my advocation for team que.

But the issue of bad players is not GW2 specific. In For Honor in 2v2 or 4v4 elimination one noob can cost you games, skill is so important in that game, as you can actually 1v4 & win if the skill gap is big enough.

If a newbie 0-100 (GW2 style) time by time. I think he will leave or play few match then leave. Player come to play , don’t come to learn.

Anyways, the sustain rotation always is the issue. Anet can increase the HP or tough something like that but if they want people to find a window to make damage, this is talking about understanding of the game, timing control , reaction , experience , right build , right skill ….. those are not for a newbie. Newbie only know to bring the damage skills, focus emeny and drop them.

If a game don’t not have enough population. Then everything mean nothing.

I just want some new maps for PvP that aren’t just holding 3 points. It gets itchy after a while. Escorts, Destruction, Capture the Flag, Gathering, Tower Defense, Siege, downright getting into a pit and slaughter until you get enough points.
So many options to make pvp variable and fun, and they stick to the one formula that’s proven to work because it’s so solid like a brick wall you can’t enjoy it anymore.

Yep, GW2 PvP is dead because there is no variation in game type, just capture, capture, capture. You look at any MMORPG and you’ll see PvP games that are more than just one type and even though there are people who do not enjoy them, there are at least no complaints about lack of game type variation.

I mean, we have more maps. We have colleseum which is already more fun than a normal capture, capture, capture (it still is, but the map is more fun), then we have the Courtyard, which is the only REAL pvp map, which they left out of ranked arenas. I hate stronghold personally, but it would add some variety if added.

Thief has only 1 build common in pvp for couple of years

Mesmer has started with power change to support and ended in condition

The mistake is that the elite add it on existing classes and not create new ones .

You are not really counting condition or vault Spammer as viable builds are you? D/p is basically all you got these days. Before hot you still had s/d but that died with daredevil.

Paying more doesn’t mean jack anyway.

The Jumping monkey theives are fine and easily counterable if you just pay attention.

Warrs it would seem start off super strong at low level play but become quite difficult to play well at higher levels. Granted Elite warriors are an absolute nightmare to play against…

Hot didnt destroy balance it just changed things.

Im not afraid of a poll, im perfectly capable of playing core classes as i am HOT classes. Wouldn’t effect me in the least.

Not once have i said Core classes dont need a buff. However, if you have the ability to play an Elite spec and choose not too or choose not to purchase HOTS you are making that choice YOURSELF.

The percentage paid more money than you is high cause own 4 accounts and deluxe HoT also.
But you are right doesn’t mean anything. But worth to mention just for know that i am not free to play player .
Every class if u be careful you can survive against then ( Speak as Bunker Guard) but in mid never alone and everywhere u step is a trap -mark etc. So the answers this type are mistaken.
Almost all agree that HoT made thing worst that it was in pvp.

Try to answer honest : Which class need more skill to reach platinum a DH or a Core Bunker Guard?

The dps junkies destroy strategy in pvp . Does matter if is condi or power. when all spamm aoe skills and kill people in blind is wrong.

How about we just wait for the next ex-pack to release another set of E-Specs so current E-specs aren’t the only valuable choice? Removing E-Specs isn’t going to do much except set back everything that was worked on over the course of the year. Rather Running core should have its own benefit over running a E-Spec.

yes, the blocks etc would mean you can survive for much longer than 10sec, but don’t bother with xeonage. i’m actually convinced he’s a bot at this point. it’s really not worth getting into it w him.

to everyone else, why bother offering these suggestions? honestly, knowing anet its going to be as impactful as sacrificing a live goat & arranging candles in a circle.

save yourself & find another game. m only on on occasion to play some gunflame w pals. for actual pvp, i’d go to Paragon or For Honor. for everything else an mmo brings, BDO. but hey, go out & look there is better pvp than gw2 in so many places.

the problem in pvp is the lack of builds diversity, the lack of counter to meta builds, the lack of creation (2 years i see d/p thief…) the lack of change

The meta was made by the ESL players and even the builds that weren’t made by them were popularized by them. If you want counter meta builds make one since the ESL players have kind of well… left….

That being said there is plenty of issue with people lacking game knowledge making builds. There are also plenty of viable builds that aren’t meta especially in solo queue.

You need to have an understanding of your class, the other classes, the meta and the roles. The amount of times I see people using their own build talking trash to meta players just because they kill them makes my head hurt….. If you build can kill a meta build cool. But if you sacrifice everything else your class does you gain 1v1 potential but lose any other real use.

Meta builds are meta because they are flexible. Keep that in mind because with the lack of a pro scene the meta is everyones hands now.

What’s killing PvP for me is matchmaking. I’d wait hours on end if I could get a good team and good match of similarly skilled/ranked players. Most matches are decided by the skill of the high MMR player and the low MMR player on your team vs the ones on the enemy team.

It’s frustrating and makes self improvement difficult when your either steamroll the enemy team or get steamrolled in blowout matches quite literally decided by RNG, unless your exceptionally skilled. Consider this, your the high MMR player on your team and the enemy team’s high MMR player is your counter. You’d rely on your teammates ideally, but there is a skill gap here. Your unable to carry the game, let alone do much of anything in this situation. There are plenty more I could think of that highlight how bad this system is, but I’m preaching to the choir.
