Season Four Ruined by Dragon Hunters
people play guardians in daily guardian win rewards?
nah that can’t be right.
i know this guy to be a good Druid, the one thing DHs say “counters” them. and yet here he is, addressing the imbalance like everyone else.
i wonder when the bandwagon will realize they’re not gonna be around for long?
What i love about GW2 is each account is given a number of free character slots. Ive only been playing this game for 2 years but ive noticed there will always be 1 or 2 OP classes whether real or perceived (and depending on division etc). I have 5 classes that i enjoy and can play reasonably well. There is a high possibility that one of those classes will be considered OP.
Quit whining and go with flow. Learn to play more classes and you will shrug off these inevitable situations because
1. You can always load up the OP class and ROFLStomp everyone
or
2. You know how to counter it since you know how to play it.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
I think Anet should only allow one dragonhunter per team, trap spam is redicilously unfun if you fight 2-4 dragon hunters

If ANET ever decides to do that it should apply to all classes. Because trust me after next patch another class will be op and people will be saying OMG i just faced 4 <insert class here> and got wrecked. Please stop more than 1 of that class in a match.

2. “pfff. just learn to counter something that has no counters”
I don’t think you understand how balance works at all.
I’ve yet to see a single pro-DH argument that isn’t absolutely abysmal and doesn’t try to be condescending despite the fact putting nothing of value on the table :/

I would not mind it. It is also annoying to have several revs, druids, scrappers etc in enemy team
You forget what it was like pre HoT it was so balanced that people only quit because it was boring.Every op thing was not viable in Tpvp and only viable 1 vs 1

in my experience the best way to get ANETS attention is not by QQ on forums. Its when they see everyone switching to a class that is clearly OP (see scrappers in prev season and rev and ele). Then they go about nerfing it.
Go QQ all you want but crying wont help you get your wins in pvp. And as i said i ENJOY playing 5 different classes so moving to a FOTM class is not a sacrifice or a sellout.
ANET has access to huge amount of match data. They know exactly how many people are playing what classes . If DH is really is that strong and gets used so much as everyone says, it will show up in their reports and get adjusted.
I repeat the best way to get ANETS attention is through numbers, not by QQ because you got stomped and refuse to adapt.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
Again its Go DH or Go home in solo que. I already had to swap because they outperform all my other class point guards with decap feature.

i don’t know why you think i care about how you feel. what you said was dumb and your feelings don’t change that.
this post is specifically talking about the massive influx of Dragonhunters in ranked sPvP thanks to the recent patch that’s rendered it overpowered, the very thing you say that happens to overpowered professions, and yet here you are complaining about the poster bringing it up?
you also seem to be under the idea that anet ignores these forums. the developers do read these threads, they just can’t respond as they’ve explained on the subreddit. many of the popular nerf suggestions on here end up getting put into effect. I know this first hand because the vast majority of what I’ve campaigned for in terms of balance has been implemented.
stop posting my man, you’re just wasting your time trying to delay the inevitable.

Ive been playing Power Rev this season and at my (admitedly average) skill level i have just over a 50% win rate in 1v1 vs DH. A better Rev should be more successful than me at beating a DH especially since there are a lot of new (and bad) DHs out there.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
Tpvp isn’t about 1 vs 1 its about holding for longer than 1 minute ideally 2-3 minutes, decap, and aoe support/damage. I can 1 vs 1 rev on my mesmer if I wan’t a duel. But in tpvp I can last longer vs 5 because a block cycle blocks all 5 if I see a rev on point I knock him off and let my team +1. Revs unrelenting assault is way too telegraphed and wont stop me from dodging it and holding the point indefinitely. I just rolled guardian this Season and also have just over 50% win-rate with no experience in this class.

It wasnt a duel. It was situations like a DH holding a point while the rest of the team was fighting at bell. So i fight him, or when i run to far to decap it and a DH respawns and runs over to fight me.
I know PVP is not 1v1, Thats why we have 5 people in a team but in all these threads i keep seeing DH has it all and can do everything. It can walk on water and turn water into wine. What im saying its only super strong if you dont know how to play against its weaknesses. I see way too many people even after all these months who see a DH standing on point and rush in to trigger all the traps while he has the traps off cd and ready to spam them again.

I can confirm power revs give me the hardest time on bunker guard.
okay, so I just played 5 ranked games in a row to get a quick sample of how flooded sPvP is with Dragonhunters and here’s the stats:
5 games (w/w/w/w/w)(Sapphire T3-4):
- DH: 19 (!) players
- Reaper: 7
- Druid: 6
- Herald: 6
- Daredevil: 3 (was 7, but I’m only counting myself once)
- Beserker: 2
- Chronomancer: 2
- Scrapper 1
- Tempest: 0
Total: 50 players
this was a quick and small sample but as you can see, there’s a clear outlier here. i’ll be playing 15 more games and collecting the profession data from those games to get a better set, however if this small sample is any indication, I’m going to guess approximately 40-50% of all ranked players are using Dragonhunter right now.
this doesn’t happen to a balanced profession.

were you playing thief in those matches? because prof rep is screwed if you always play same class, you should remove yourself from statistic

yea thats true, bit of an oversight. only 3 daredevils then since i only count once.
You evidently benefited from all the DH’s playing during your sample with 5 wins in a row. Gratz

Only reason DH’s seem so strong now is that you’re almost guaranteed to get someone naive, or stupid enough to get 1shot by traps. Regardless of matchup.
DH was strong in low divisions last season too.

Symbol DH is a direct result of the recent buffs. Nobody here is talking about Longbow/GS or trapper DH. the problem is Symbol DH combined with the overpowered Purification heal.
you’re either purposely trying to derail the focus on this overpowered build or you’re just ignorant about your own profession.
Best counter for DH would be?
Core Engi Burst Burn build?
Full Condi Core mesmer – that confusion stack is good for noob going on flavor of the month, right?
Any other great suggestion?

Condi mesmer against good DH’s don’t stand a chance. When they aren’t blocking or blinding us, there traps and AoE are 1shotting all our illusions making it impossible to get good shatters. Can’t sit on the DH because of the traps so have to give up node, and can’t fight them at ranged because there longbow beats our staff. Either way its extremely difficult to get illusions to spawn even with Signet of illusions(50% illusion HP) and Persisting Images(20% llusion HP), so even with +70% illusion hp they still die too quickly. Just gotta out rotate them as a mesmer, I just drop a port and leave forcing him to stay there.

If i see a thief or 2 on enemy team i switch to DH. its a guaranteed free kill (rock/paper/scissors). So maybe you need to remove yourself from the equation?

This is not a problem… but … when they pull you though two , three , four or more traps… lol

Not had any problems dealing with DH. Even with symbols, they don’t hurt any more than they did before.
However I’m still seeing people get 1shot by traps.

Yeah, people think only noobs get caught in traps. But as a necro I get pulled, tugged, and pushed all the time into traps. It’s like I really try to avoid them, but often I can’t help but get pulled or pushed into them. I lack stab as is, with so many DH this season it’s kind of lol.
Two seasons ago the season was ruined by having too many necros, we then promptly got nerfed. If DH players think they’ll get away with it…yeah good luck lol. The whole “but but DH isn’t viable at pro level” argument doesn’t work, because 2 seasons ago necros weren’t stacked at pro level either (this was before 1 class per team rule was in place). Many pro teams didn’t even use a necro then. But yet they plagued the ranked gameplay and players complained about not having a good time.
Anet could resolve these issues by making sure there’s no class stacking. I mean they couldn’t balance the game enough for high level play so they implemented no class stacking for pro tourneys. Only makes sense for them to do the same for 99% of the rest of the PvP playerbase.

What i love about GW2 is each account is given a number of free character slots. Ive only been playing this game for 2 years but ive noticed there will always be 1 or 2 OP classes whether real or perceived (and depending on division etc). I have 5 classes that i enjoy and can play reasonably well. There is a high possibility that one of those classes will be considered OP.

this isnt streetfighter, its a mmorpg, and balance can get screwed up badly in a mmorpg because of conflicting demands between pve and pvp if a balancing team is not careful (forced into melee with poor sustained mitigation for example) . Moreover in mmorpg many people play as per original rpg play, they play to evolve their main, not flit between whatever happens to be the OP build oif the day. Winning everything is not allways the point – having good content and gameplay with their character is.

Can deal with one DH typically be it team fight or/1v1, most of them run the same rotation and dont change up their plan of attack because it’s the fotm players.
My problem is when there is more then one in a team fight the area denial becomes so absurd no way I can support my team through it. I had to switch to Mes to play the portal game and try and outrotate to win recently. (Thief isnt an option for this because of DH.)
Dont care if there are ways around it. When avoiding fights is netting more wins then trying for actual team fights there is a problem.
I will tell you what’s wrong with the new DH.
-Area Denial, as mentioned.
-Stomp/Rez control like old Mercy Guard.
-The ability to deal obscene bursts and (in the menders build) heal your allies pretty well between symbols and dodge rolls.
Again, alone this isnt too bad, but when it’s stacked we’ve got problems.

That is true but who said Roleplay requires you to exclusively play one class? Ive always liked the Heavy Warrior/Tank classes but also chose Thief on other games. So in GW2 i play War, Guard, Rev and Thief. I added Engineer just because i wanted to learn how to fight against them when they were so OP these last seasons. I ended up liking Scrapper so much its my main toon now for open world HOT event farming.
So yeah sure some people will be forever 100% commited to roleplaying one class. I am not one of them.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
I’ve always had a very low opinion of DHs (probably because I main ranger), but I wanted to see what the fuss was about. Slapped on the metabattle build without knowing what anything did… holy wow this build is easy to play. Everything just dies with no effort. It’s insane how little knowledge you need to make this work.
Every season is ruined by something. There are core issues needing to be addressed, not just DH, or Chrono, or condi of prior seasons. But no, let’s just throw money until it’s an e-sport people care about.
“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”
Dh is very easy to outplay and do not have the sustain to fight the bigger and longer the fights go on.
Roll a retri rev or scrapper or Druid which all counter them.
In short learn their weakness and exploit them and try a couple games on guard to learn their mechanics before going to the forums and whining
I am seeing at least about 4 DH per-game, and have even rolled one myself to test.
By George are they EASY to play. I don’t even have all the skill usages down, and stuff just dies kind of by accident. If I ever get in trouble too, I have heals to go back to full, and blocks/invulns for days. There isn’t enough time where DH aren’t either applying crazy pressure, cc-ing opponents, or going invuln to really exploit.
And they aren’t even slow like they used to be…DH can have quite good mobility and decent ranged pressure.
I guess this is the reward for being bad for 3 seasons. I wonder if they will finally make some of the garbage on ele good after they leave them in the trash-bin for the next 3 seasons…

it doesn’t, but the developers have to be wary of it and support both kinds of player.

Season One to Four Ruined by Anet Developers
I took the liberty to correct your title.
Honor to whom its due, please.
The best way to beat a Dragonhunter is to play a Dragonhunter.
I’m not sure but I almost feel like the developers of Gw2 pre patch and the Developers of HoT are different people. The game mechanics and style suddenly changed and became inconsistent.
Yeah, Dragon Hunters are pretty darn ridiculous. It was so ridiculous that I created a DH just so I could win… and literally all you have to do is sit there and smash your hands on your keyboard and you’ll kill the nearest poor creature that wanders into your death traps.
I think it’s great that so many people wana bandwagon trap DH. Means i can just waltz in with my bunker guard and knock them off the point while they wonder what to do.

You know what feels good? Seeing that full trap guard with Procession of Blades, as a Zeal support bruiser DH, knowing he’s probably going to kill himself from team wide retal. I know I’ve made it happen before.

It is the result of simultaneously nerfing a build’s counters while buffing the build at the same time. And yes the number of dragon hunters in ranked q right now is astronomical.
