A former guildie told me about this post just now on teamspeak. He doesn’t pvp but knows that I do. I have no desire to reach legendary but wanted to share with you guys in case you haven’t seen it yet.

He basically said in a nutshell that you duo q with someone good that’s 2 divisions below you.

Can anyone verify?

The OP may sound like a whiny little cry baby but the stuff he and others have shared might help. He has been on my team a few times and all I can say is that he at least knows what he’s talking about and play rotations well.

I will share exactly what I did without disguising myself as someone better than I really am. Honesty isn’t preferred in these forums but w/e

I. Don’t be a noob. Have good mechanics and control of your character. Don’t be a useless scumbag that dies quickly. Dying quickly will make you burden

II. If you soloQ, do it upto sapphire and ruby.

III. Once you are in sapphire or ruby. YOU MUST DUO QUEUE WITH SOMEONE AS GOOD AS YOU OR BETTER WHO ARE TWO DIVISIONS BELOW YOU. THIS IS A MUST IF YOU WANT TO GET TO LEGENDARY

Why? Because the matchmaking and reward algorithm is broken. Having a lower division person in the team offers a TREMENDOUS OUT OF THIS WORLD UNFAIR ADVANTAGE of rewarding you 2-3 pips per win and a much reduced penalty of only losing 1 pip for every loss. This alone is all you really need to breeze through the divisions. This alone is something none of the other legendaries will tell you.

IV. The second half of diamond may be overwhelming for duo queue and it will help if you team queue as a full pre.

I’m generally seen as a bitter person but that’s because I’m just being honest.

My intent is to expose how ridiculous the league is designed.

My intent is for people to not associate division with skill.

No Legendary will ever tell you how they breezed through divisions by manipulating except me because I don’t want this implemented next season.

no wonder my 2 fresh ruby friends are eager to bring me along.
i was in 19/25 emerald.

we played 3 games yesterday morning gmt+8
(i’m very casual and do not have time for many games per day)

loss – 19/25 emerald
loss – 19/25 emerald
win – 20/25 emerald

we didn’t lose any pips for the 1st 2 losses.
nice.

sapphire was the fastest division for me. I completed the entire division in under 4 hours.

NO EFFING WONDER I LOST 3 PIPS a few matches ago.

ALL 9 PLAYERS WERE THE SAME DIVISION EXCEPT THE DUO Q FROM THE OTHER TEAM HAD an EMERALD.

THAT COST ME 3 PIPS WHEN IT SHOULD ONLY HAVE BEEN 1.

Even if this tactic works, I’m still going to soloQ.

Currently TOP post on reddit. Didn’t know reddit folks cared more about pvp than the official pvp forum. I’m sure it’ll die quickly but it would be nice to expose this so people know the monster they are fighting against and not waste their time on this pos league.

+1 I agree wholeheartedly. I’d add that it offends me to be tripped up by other players farming on the cheap.

Well looking at your post history it seems we’re on the same page that everyone should be dealt with equally so my bad. But anyway my point is you want threads like these because its the only way to force anet to deal with it rather than delete the thread and bury the problem.

You know I didn’t mind if people queued with a lowbie to get faster matches. But using tactics like this is a huge disrespect to the entire community.

If you soloQ, you have to work really really hard for the pips, especially higher MMR ones. Then have people shamelessly steal the pips that you worked hard for because they decided to pip farm to increase the size of their virtual gonads.

It’s not right at all.

Yeti seems like a very angry and bitter person. The kind I don’t usually get along with, but I must thank you for having the guts to spill this out. I had a hunch this was going on but no one has confirmed it till now. And I don’t queue with lower division people so I have no direct experience.

Very insightful, at this point, if you wanted to care about pips, make a honest forum post about it. My main gripe is to expose the scum that made diamond to legendary in 1 day playing stronghold for 3-5 min games, it is disgusting. I still have some respect to not play stronghold, but when you have players that literally farmed in 1 day in “ez” queues cmon… If Anet needs account names, I can easily provide them, (they have been bragging about the broken system enough, yet no1 farms pips as good)

To clarify my statement: Essentially 3-4 players bum rushed mmr in stronghold and (no surprise here) are the people that have the highest ap (which doesn’t mean anything) I would prefer they earned their spot instead of farming.

No punishment made for the true farmers since they would outright ban half their pvp population for exploiting if you need a lower division player to get a faster queue.

It’s best to not take this game seriously.

That’s why I’m back to playing Witcher 3. I think I’m at the part where I get to sleep with Keira Metz. Lmao.

I wonder if this is a good time to start kitten yourself out for gold to higher ranked players?

All diamond/legend people I see farmed noobs in stronghold mode or exploited the MMR system

I was more surprised to have the OP link and reference one of my threads considering how much he dislikes me.

I had a very strong hunch that what he revealed was ongoing as early as the first week of the leagues. The patterns were easy to recognize but this post is what confirmed it.

SoloQing is already challenging in itself because you never know the kind of teammates gets thrown in with you. But SoloQing plus going against premades, plus going against premades that apply unfair, manipulative tactics – I don’t even know why I still bother.

Only thing I can say is…mad props to those who made it to diamond without tanking their MMR and by soloQing exclusively.

Even though pip farming using these methods is super sleazy and hard to respect, there is really only one entity to blame.

As long as you remember that division does not = skill, you’ll be alright.

If ANet just lowers/removes the requirement for crossing X league divisions as a prerequisite for the Legendary, I’m willing to let this gaffe slide. :P Everything else aside from that can be worked towards with time and dedication. But otherwise, with the rampant cheating/exploiting that’s going on, I’m NEVER going to get to Ruby. Let alone Diamond.

You could also try just learning your class and playing well, with or without friends. I have a guildie who is diamond soloque thief (not meta at all). I am diamond and didn’t play with anyone lower than one division than me – only 9 games to legendary just playing legitimately with 1-2 friends at a time.

I don’t think this system is perfect, but this thread seems a little salty.

The gains and losses should be closer to that of a normal ladder system like wows.

1500 playing with a 2500 = 2000 avg mmr: 1500er gains a lot when he wins and loses close to nothing when he loses. 2500er gains next to nothing when he wins and loses a lot when he loses.

Translated in to our system

Div 1 playing with div 6 = 3rd avg division: Lower division player should gain up to 4 or even 5 pips to catch up (the first 1-2 divs). While the higher division player loses a lot and gains next to nothing untill the lower tier player caught up.

Just bring back solo q.

I gave this a shot. It didn’t give me ridiculous one-sided matches. It actually gave me some of the best match-ups I’ve had all week. Like final score within 50 points of each other. Last match, fighting for my last pip of the tier, literally came down to whoever got the next player kill. For the first time in a while, I had a GREAT time in PvP.

Screw solo queuing. Knowing who your teammates are going to be and knowing you can rely on them is great.
