I’m 100% sure I’ve seen a thread with a similar title as above., please merge with any other recent threads about this topic if there are any.

Currently, PvP is unbalanced (elementalist main, flame me please). Of course though, as an elementalist, I know that elementalists are in a very strong spot in PvE. This leads to the questioning of the balancing of the game.

In the original Guild Wars, a lot of skills were split between PvE and PvP, which made balancing a lot fairer. This system could probably be implemented in to Guild Wars 2. This does mean, however, that the balancing will have to take time before it takes effect, but it will make balancing skills, professions and builds easier (most likely, PvP balancing won’t trash PvE balancing and vice versa).

TL;DR – Read topic name.

Well, partly they are doing that for years.
For example on thief:
-revealed 4sec insetad of 3
-daze from sneak attack sword is shorter in PvP
-pistol-whip 6 initiative instead of 5
-confusion 33% more damage in PvE
-retaliation is different
-cloak and dagger was different but got changed again to be more or less the same in damage.

They are not very consistent with it though.

Well. That’s because it a bad idea, I wouldn’t want them to separate pvp from pve. I mean in pve all you have to do is learn the boss mechs. Like how hard is it?

And about the eles being strong in PVE or PVP,that has nothing to do with balance. They might be strong but they are as strong as necro, engi, revs and maybe thieves so they are pretty much balanced in their tier. Seeing that balance equates to having everyone on equal standing.
