Separate queue for new PvP players
Isn’t it so that really new players need a certain minimum rank anyway to even join ranked?
Heck, we could make it more fair, and force all players to pass an NPC training test before they can queue. New players and rusty players alike would benefit from an in-game guide.
There is one, it’s just to the left of the ranked button. It’s called unranked
There is one, it’s just to the left of the ranked button. It’s called unranked
But that’s actually not fair. If you force players to win 10 Unranked matches before they can queue for Ranked, that means they’re at the mercy of 4 other human teammates. You can’t control the quality of your team, so if you roll bad players, then you’re blocked from Ranked. At least with NPC teammates, their skill level is always the same, and you then have a chance to learn properly.
So what happens when there are say only 4 players eligable for this newbie tier and no matchup is ever created when they sit 1h+ i queue? That will surely get them interested in PvP.
I support this. My post i wrote in another tread fits better here.
First 8 matches played and got 50:50. Three losses were good starts that ended in chaos..
Last one i got a thief on my side that constantly ran far and when seeing his movement i kew he did´t know the map well …. On thte other side most people i got paired with kew what they are doing. Unfortunately one bad player can cost you the match. There should be some threshold like 1k rating that splits the matchmaker in two sections. Up to 1k and the second for above or the entrance for rankes is higher with 100+ matches … when someone enters ranked i expect her/him to know what to do, handle his class and know the map. Till then train unranked.
And another loss yesterday totaly astounded me …
I play ele. I had over 200k healing … A guardian had more and i had 30% of the teams damage dealt being the top damage dealer … O_o

i think its minimum PvP lvl 20 before you can play ranked
…………..and that about right on the learning curve
more or less 50 PvP unranked games to learn
but if you hate being on bronze division and blame it on newbies…..
i suggest git gud or git rekt….. cuz thats whats mmr is all about
though i dunno how GW2 mmr works but on DOTA2 its +24to25 on wins and -24to25 on loss
Gate of Madness
well lets go for team comparrison.
System balances out teams.
T red: 1400,1400,1400,1400,1400
T blue: 1400,1400,1400,1400, 2000, 800
I say red wins. The 2000 can´t carry the 800 without comunication. Two average are better then a god + a rooky. Also one AFK is GG. There is the flaw. Also class MM.
I am a good example. My rating wil lbe measured on ele skill. When i swap class i will be placed much higer then i deserve with warrior or thief. I don´t play these clases due to that reason in ranked (only rare exceptions where i think its a benefit) but thats me and i expect many to swap around regardless fo class training.

As others have said you need minimum rank 20 (which took me about 100 or so games to get) to join the ranked queue and you have to play 10 matches this season to get your initial rating for the season. That should really be enough.
should …. Reality shows it´s not. And i did see it too. I learned to rotate better and when to rezz or stomp much later …. And both points are critical. I got flemd by not rezzing. A singe failed stomp/rezz can cost the match due to team whipe.
You can’t control the quality of your team
You can join unranked 1-5, so go collect a team and there you are, controlling your team composition. Actually many people does it, and afaik same do pvp guilds who train their members.
well 5 player preamde in unranked stomping randoms without extra reward is more fun?
Since I regularly get put on almost entire teams of people who never even attempt to capture a point I totally agree, give them a pvp boot camp where they have to train with npc’s teaching them every step of the way exactly what you’re supposed to be doing in pvp before they are allowed in ranked matches. They don’t listen to humans anyways so let npc’s try to train them. And after all that if they STILL don’t ever go any where near a point I think it’s safe to say they’re bots.
