I am so close. Why not keep it open until 12pm EST? That would be 9 pm PST. I do not understand. I feel very cheated. Why are we not allowed the full time that we deserve?

I do not understand how giving the entire 24 hour period of ANYONE’s January 25th is an issue. It does not matter where you are located, if it is the 25th, we get the entire 24 hours.

So their system needs to tailor to your needs and use your location to determine whether you can still participate in leagues instead of them rolling out a patch once for all time zone’s they would have to release it for every time zone meaning it would be more of a strain on the server and have to determine whether players have or havnt updated yet plz get half a brain

Bad luck, but there will always be a cutoff that messes up someone. The league does last for 2 months though – best go for it earlier next time.

The infographics said “Season ends January 26th”, which many, myself included, thought woud mean “the usual patch time”, or, at least indeed ON “January 26th” (which could actually be interpreted as both “ending midnight 25-26th” or even “ends 26th, 23:59”

Due to timezones, adding a countdown timer on the last 24 hours would have been very helpful and may prevent further confusion next season.

The graphic for me said the 25th, and I assumed it meant on “reset” on the 25th….which is exactly what happened.

Big Patch is on the 26th, but the leagues ending text in the leagues window said the 25th for me.

This situation was inevitable and ANet should have planned for it.

Tbh I’m not surprised of ANet’s lack of foresight.

It’s not “tailoring” the text read “The season ends on the 25th” and the 25th is not over yet. Simple. Also, I doubt what you say and what the developer’s reality of the situation are the same. Their servers may not have a problem with it I do not think you have the expertise to comment on the matter.

Yet you miss the point i made completly and belittle me failing to realise i am studying to become a java programmer(serverside and client side) so yes i know what i am talking about yes a nets server might be able to handle it it would however make wvw impossible as well as pvp

In case you didn’t catch Evan’s post last week, I just wanted to remind everyone that PvP League Season One (including the Guild Challenger League) will end on January 26 at 00:00 UTC (4pm Pacific on Jan 25). There will be a one hour grace period after 4pm to allow any in-progress matches to complete and then the season will officially end.

You can’t prepare for everything. How are they gonna know that their server is gonna down? It’s just a case of bad timing. Get over it and move on.

Sorry that timezones aren’t something you normally consider when playing an mmo that spans across multiple countries. I guess it’s illogical to think that it’s common knowledge. Just like it’s illogical to complain about something like it’ll change a kitten thing. Also people would probably treat you better if it didn’t sound like you were having a temper tantrum.

Wow a IS grad that cant see the fact that you would need to instance each timezone seperatly for his wishes (btw finished IS in a month all be it not that indept aint hard though)

Ok if I would promise to kill you in the next hour would you only start to feel scared in the 59th minute? Thats what “finishes on the 25th” means, be scared all day!

Its similar as you start doing homework 1 hour before deadline. It doesn’t even matter at which hour the season ends, you had weeks upon weeks upon weeks time to do whatever you wanted to do.

i can understand your frustration, i took this pick early sunday before the Football games and when i logged in the next day we were in 29th. We couldnt break it if we wanted to since we all got jobs at different times but we were like ahhhhhh so close.

Some of you people will find anything you possibly can to complain, its sad really.

May I also have 5 extra hours please? No, wait, make that 8 hours, these guys got to start at 4pm in the afternoon, while for me it was midnight and I was asleep and missed the first 8 hours.

Honestly? You would’ve gotten to 1 pip left, then lost 15. Then you would’ve grinded your way back up to only needing 1 pip again, then lose another 15-20.

Maybe a countdown timer for the end of the season (if not there already) would be helpful.

Sucks to be you, but there has to be a cut off somewhere. There always will be people 1-2 pips away from their goal. It is unlikely that you are the only one who got cut off.

Or you know… Calculate the time for all timezones to reach the 26th and pick the latest time out of all those times. Or just have a countdown timer…

Kinda with OP here. At the very least having it end on the 26th PST as is standard would be better (IE five more hours).

Also both of you should stop flaunting your degrees. I mean OP did it since you did it first. But really it’s kinda silly. If you see something as impossible because of a previous body of knowledge state what that impossible thing is before you go “dude I have a degree I KNOW I’m right.”

You miss the point.
The point is that it’s impractical to have the season end time go by timezone.

Ignoring the technical hurdles of having the queue checking timezones, it’s just bad implementation.

Think of it this way if you’re on the last timezone to shut down, are you really going to get any matches in that last hour? No you’re not because with all the other timezones shutdown the queue population is going to be too low.

Then you also need to consider the PR ramifications of trying to placate all the people in the early shutdown timezones that are kittened that they can’t do ranked while others can. Just imagine the backlash from that.
