Should I Buy HoT for PvP?
Yes. Unless you are super cheap and really really good.
God, dont spent real life money on a gamemode that gets ZERO attention from devs and has absolute HORRID matchmaking.
Buy overwatch. At least that game has a future.

If you hate this game so much, why waste time on it? Yet here you are in the forums…

…and worst pvp system up to date. It is going to take Blizz 7 years probably to get it right at this rate.

Know HoT, know PvP
Ignore the few toxic people above. If you genuinely like GW2 and want to play better in pvp, have more content in pve and over all see yourself playing for quite a bit then sure it’s a well worth investment.
Only thing I do is SPvP and Duel and I absolutely don’t regret getting HoT. My passion for competition is above average so it’s entirely up to you

Keep a few things in mind, If you want to be competitive and do ranked games then yes you will need HOT. Because most core spec builds are very under perform compare to HOT builds. Secondly, expect about 1 dominant build per class, there isn’t much of build diversity at this point.
In my experience, HOT ruined pvp build diversity for me. It’s really boring to play the same build over and over again for couple of seasons with minimal changes. There is alot of passives and spamming.
I would buy HOT for the pve content, not so much for pvp
P.S. pvp player

No. Do not buy HoT for PvP because it offers only more DPS and access to meta builds. I would personally recommend not playing PvP at all.
However, I would recommend you to play PvE. It’s fun and beautiful (unlike PvP with same old maps and cheesy mechanics). Create as many character as you like and do PvE with them. You will manage to equip them fast and get much more gold than in PvP.
Another solution is WvW, but for that make sure you select a fun specific server, for example a server with many players from your country.
No. If you buy HoT you support p2w expansions and never ending powercreep, and it’s not even fun to play.
Guild wars 2 is a Buy to Win game.
F2P Core spvper are trash mobs farmed by “money” spender.
I really disagree with that kind of method to make money, but it’s in the game right now.
It hurt more the spvp population than giving money to Anet anyway.
Most games have F2P at 90% population. Not in gw2, after 1 week they quit for good.
