I was wondering if there was any advantage to playing ranked pvp. I just play for fun and by myself. I just finish up the reward tracks and I have been having fun, but I wonder if it would be better to just jump into the ranked ones?

Well.., if you go ranked, you don’t have to worry about playing on troll maps like skyhammer.

But more full premades tend to queue ranked vs unranked, so you may run into teams that stomp everything with voice comms more frequently, but it won’t happen all the time.

I go back and forth between them, but I like ranked more just cuz I hate skyhammer and spirit watch a lot.

If you want to get better you have to play ranked. Playing anything else isn’t going to teach you how to play ranked.

It’s not much different tbh. People take the games a little more seriously, more attention to objectives and not just zerging kills.

Solo-queuing ranked isn’t really advised; I’d much rather have an organized team for it.

Anythig but ranked is pointless. You dont even have to care about your rank, if you solo q your win ratio will be around 50% regardless. I dont even understand why unranked is still in the game, as there would have been alot more players with shorter queues using just one. They should just have limited premades to 3 man and made a seperate “tournament” queue for those wanting more competetive guild vs guild and ladders with full premades.

But I suppose Anet loves letting the wolves kitten the sheep a little now and then.

Play hotjoin if you want deeper understanding on spvp. play unranked or ranked if you care about shinnies,boxes and farmboard then go esport.

playing unranked in a team is 10x more useful than playing ranked alone. Of course playing ranked in a team is even better.

Advantages of playing ranked:

- ppl take it more seriously, so they play better builds and tryhard.
- No Skyhammer or Courtyard
- Once Ladder is back up there will be…. a Ladder… ^^’
- You can set the character-models/armor to a standard setting, so you can see animations more easily and identify characters better.
- a little less leavers/afk, but it’s still a problem, even in ranked.

I’d probably just play ranked with a build that you’re confident with, when the queue isn’t too long – just give it your best and it really can’t hurt, especially since theres no ladder atm.

So is hotjoin, you get 10 achievement points daily, titles means nothing if you only buy them way up and does not know much about Structured Player vs Player. heck even your own class and counters.

Hotjoin has 200 wins per class.
Ranked has 150 wins per class.

But Ranked count wins both for Hotjoin and Ranked achievement.
So it’s better to do Ranked and score both achievements at the same time.

And it’s not about titles, but AP :P

That’s not correct. The Achievement is

Win 150 rated arena games as an xyz.

which means Unranked and Ranked.

Keep in mind that unranked is the unofficial solo q. Most teams are well mannered and decent enough to not go unranked q against soloers. There are still those who are a bit ill mannered, but what that’s just something we have to live with.

I solo que ranked and pretty much only play ranked. Because the players take matches a bit more serious and on the whole the skill level is slightly higher.
The down side is you get more premades which I don’t mind . The worst thing about ranked is people raging in chat during a match.

If every solo q’er went unranked, then gg in the ranked queue. You’d wait 30-60 minutes for the next match. But that’s not a problem is it, we have tons of stuff to do while waiting for a match dont we?

Besides, doesnt most premades join just for easy wins against randoms? Most I meet are mediocre. Even 5 man premades will loose to pugs. They wouldnt stand a chance against a good competetive 5 man so I doubt they want to meet them.

You get attacked no matter how good you are, there’s always players with a distorted view on how things are done (e.g. a lot of them think that suiciding 1v4 to keep a point contested for 10 more seconds is better than regrouping). This is just something you have to deal with in any competitive setting.

If you fully grasp conquest mode along with the 4 maps in rotation, I’d say you’re better than 70% of the ranked solo Qers of late. People get emotional but don’t let that scare you. Remember, the ones who are quick to call others “noob” are probably one themselves

What’s wrong with Skyhammer and Spirit Watch? These are my 2 favorite maps.

For some reason my win percentage is over 75% on Skyhammer, seems a lot of people don’t understand the strategy there.

all achivments are doabel in unranked, the description is wrong , you dont need wins in a ranked arena for champion titels , you can get them in unranked too

and tbh that is a serious problem , i have met alot of newbies that are in ranked only because they want that cool champion titel and it took me like 10min to explain them that they can do that in unranked too

if grouch reads that , pls pls pls change the description of the achivments to make i clear that they are doabel in unranked too
