This is somewhat related to my last post about warrior burst skills.

I’ll make this short. Why invest into shouts for a defensive build, granting you heals and boon duration. When ONLY ONE shout grants boons. Shake it off is very viable, so is for great justice. But skills like fear me and on my mark are not very useful. Since we are investing in to boon duration we should be getting boons. Not conditions.

It just doesn’t make sense.

Unless they put shouts on F2, F3, F4 its going to be a build that’s only viable in WvW PvP-wise and definitely viable in PvE due to heal stacking capabilities with regeneration and hyper-carry comps in that place.

The tactics tree also promotes the use of Warhorn. A very underrated weapon but actually looks better than it seems. The boon duration also synchronizes well with Rune of the Forge, Rune of Lyssa, and banner regeneration (one banner is enough).

Since people are negative about nerfs, how about we buff to balance then?

Trust me, I understand warrior’s are great for mass PvP aka WvW. But shouts/banners are rendered useless in tpvp or spvp. The warhorn isn’t worth it in my opinion. One of the skills removes cripple chilled immobilize and what not. But you can gain 200 toughness while having those conditions on you, or merely take them off you using a healing skill if traited into it. Using a warhorn cuts down on survive-ability considering you won’t get a gap closer unless you use a sword for your main hand. Which comes with a condition based burst skill that is useless unless you’re only using it for the 4s immobilize.

I’ll let you believe that 200 toughness makes a difference. Realistically speaking its not better than “Embrace the Pain” if you actually know how good most adrenaline skills are and the scarcity of adrenaline. But I’ll let you think it that way.

No seriously. You would dare let yourself get crippled or chilled? Condition damage becomes easy to re-apply the moment that happens. Suit yourself :P

Another thing is Warhorn + trait IS worth it on some builds (Hammer or Axe + Mace as main weapons), definitely with a Sword. Because guess what? When you’re actually good with a Warrior, you use mobility and timed dodges (via perma-vigor from Warhorn + trait, Building Momentum) to survive. Not a shield. At least on those builds with Hammer or Mace as main weapons.

Burst isn’t a problem either if you actually know how to time dodges and mobility with Balanced Stance.

You face bigger threats when you sacrifice shield for Warhorn in some builds, such as chills and cripples. With GS? I guess Shield is okay. Not that the current situation of team fights allows full melee GS builds to actually work though.

The reasoning behind using a axe/shield over sword/warhorn is for the burst skill. The stun from the shield guarantees a nice eviscerate.

The burst skill from a sword is nearly useless with a immediate dps dmg build. I know you’re probably thinking with reckless dodge vigor is worth it. But the radius on that is much to small for it to proc often enough.

The 200 toughness also applies while stunned. You wouldn’t allow yourself to get stunned, fact is with a shouts build you only have one stun breaker, so sometimes you don’t have a choice. And the cd on fear me is too long when you use it as a heal.

Restorative strength/Turtles Defense is more viable than the warhorn.
