I am a vet of the game, but relatively new to PVP. I have builds for my guardian, engineer, and warrior, and I understand the concept of rotations. I decided to use my warrior as an intro class to PVP. I am wielding an axe/shield and longbow. I deal massive damage if I can get my rotations to hit correctly, but I am struggling against quite a few classes. Against the thief I try to aoe them with me bow and sustain through stealth, but I get burst too fast. Against the mesmer I asdfghjkloiuytfgn. I am not good at re-locking to the correct one when they create clones, and I cannot get on top of them to land a hit. Against necros I just don’t know how to get past that bar of green health, so I do no damage. Finally, against ele’s I have a hard timec keeping on them, and they heal so much. Any tips for other classes would be nice too.

First tip is practice, practice, practice. It’s tough going at first but as you play more you will learn more.

For those mesmers, try the target feature with alt-T to put that target on the real one. Als the real one is the one doing evade rolls and has a bunch of buffs. Thief takes a little bit more but if you spam your auto attack and try to keep circling as you move so your back is not exposed helps some. Backstab is garbage when it hits you from the front. Elementalists are a pain but try to save your burst CDs for when they are either in Fire or Air attunement. Earth and Water have too much defense.

I have been practicing in dueling arenas so far. I figure I best get to know each class first, because my actual matches have been reduced to running around mashing keys, since I do not know who to prioritize or how to fight each class yet.

You’re correct. It’s important to know every class and what sort of build they run in order to be able to react correctly. However, everyone is running different stuff now, so it’s a bit difficult to know what to expect. We’ll have to wait till builds settle.

Currently prioritize any mesmer or ranger first, as if you allow them to stand from far away and hit you, they will destroy your face.

Engi’s have a bug going on with grenades dropping to many right now so watch out for the red circles as they are crazy.

Necros, the more condi you throw at them the more they will send it back. Most people are playing against necro the way they used to and thinking they are easy focus. I wouldn’t try to focus them first you will fill their life bar really fast.

Guardians are burning it up right now they are actually fun for me to fight but then I am a necro. Watch out for thier burning damage.

Warriors with hammers. I dont know what this build is but its crazy and they will CC you into the ground. So just dodge roll stun break as much as you can around them. They have some burning to so beware.

Thieves are touch and go. I have met some thieves that have crazy amounts of stealth and burst and immoblize. Bad combos for me, I would advice trying to do as much area damage around them as possible.

Eles, have a good deal of burn and alot of healing, just stay on them don’t burst em until they get out of their water element. Watch out for their knock down in earth and their burning in fire. They build might more easily now so their damage is only going to get better.
