Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

@Albert Einstein

A simple suggestion which should have been given to the devs before moving to design GW2, they should have simplified the GW1 PvP system…rather than make everything simpler for the sake of simplicity, discarding the quality of the system at the same time.

You made PvP in GW2 so simple…that it’s unrewarding to play it, this goes from the basic reward system to the more complex profession design, in a bid to attract as many casual players as possible, you made some professions so easy to play, that everything now is a spamm frenzy.

But you devs..what did you gain?
The PvP system in GW2 is far less popular than the one in GW1 when it was launched, now you need to bring players in..rather than trying to keep them in, the first situation is much harder to achieve respect to the second.

In the end, the entry barrier for PvP in GW1, it was what made it so appealing for the casual players, there was a reason to rant if you managed to even get a dear rank, here in GW2…nobody care if you’re a wolf, shark, pigeon or dog..and that’s sad, really sad

You’re aggregating a lot of issues together.

- Professions easy to play: please watch the link below, start at 2 min if you want

GW2 was never advertised as a game for only the hardcore

- Skill spam: the dev acknowledge that this is a problem, although let’s not lie to ourselves here spamming mindlessly isn’t going to win you any fight against someone who knows what they are doing

just a thought about the design philosophy changes between gw1 and 2: the complexity we had in skills balanced out the relative simplicity in gear and stats. in gw2 they’ve turned those around so that gear is much more complex and the skills are much simpler. i for one, don’t find stats at all interesting, and i’d much rather have my skill complexity back. thnx.
