Skyhammer Changes Where Announced!
Anything less than this map being taken out of soloQ is unacceptable to me.
They’ll probably reduce the amount of areas that you can 1-shot people, but they won’t remove them all.
If they just made the kitten hammer dodgeable or reduced the size of it’s AoE and reduced the amount of areas you can be pull/pushed into the map would be decent enough for soloq.

So I was right, now that jonathan sharp is no longer the head dev in PvP things are going to change.
However, don’t waste your times fixing the map because it will never be a good map. Just take it out of soloQ.
The 3 reasons that make it bad:
1) Pull = kill
2) Hammer is the 4th objective. If you have 4 objectives and 5 players, they are all going to 1v1 in different spots and the game is not balanced for 1v1’s
3) Side nodes have very poor vision
Even if 1) is fixed, the other reasons still make it a really bad map. Another example is spirit watch, which is also really bad because it is another 4 objective map.
Nifhel, Foefire, Kyhlo and Temple are 3 objectives with a situational 4th (you don’t always have to fight for the 4th)

I’m a mesmer, so I personally find pull hilarious… until somebody can counter it and throw me off instead. Seriously, I hate the map since as soon as the trick is figured out, I’m good as dead because that focus’s pull was really what kept me from being mowed down in that little floating island of death.
Not to say I hate it simply because I can’t take advantage of it anymore, but just because I understand how players who are pulled feel, as well as the dull feelings given by it to players who pull.

This is not true. They talk about the skyhammer changes this coming week and that means whatever they have in mind is already finished (anet talks about something = it is rdy to launch and get’s the last few QA tests).
That means, that this skyhammer change was made while Jon was still at Anet doing his job. He is a great person and I think the game we love wouldn’t be half so awesome without him.
- Hammer damage reduction
- Hammer dodgeable
- Removal of 2/3 glass panels on side points , maybe all
I think those are realistic expectations.
The laggy jump pads and ALL points having awfull camera problems are a starting design flaw, it can only serve as a example of failure for future projects.
Add meaningful playing and counterplaying to glass panels and to the hammer, and the map can be functional.
On the other hand, you gotta consider that the point of the map isn’t about just bunkering on 2 points and that’s it, like many are doing on other maps…
You have to adapt to the map( whether it is skyhammer or orb watch). If you could win any map with same builds and doing the same, where would be the fun..
I’d like to see the Hammer be made dodgable and perhaps an increase in safety railings for the map. I’m generally OK with the breakable floors (it makes me consider my positioning, and there’s a fair number of skills where there’s a tell before the pull), but I think perhaps increasing the time before the floor breaks to 3 seconds instead of 2 might help give players a chance to get away before falling to their deaths. (Meaning that players who want to kill others using the floors will need either Immobilize or Stun to lock the enemy in place after using a Push/Pull skill, or deliberately breaking the floor first before maneuvering the enemy around for a CC. Both methods increase the skill level needed to get off a fall kill.)
da faq? don’t listen to these guys. Add more glass panels, faq make the entire map glass panels!
Make the recharge on skyhammer faster too!
That comment about johantan sharp leaving and changes happening, I hope its changes that are to make skyhammer more fun, and not adding more ways to ‘not’ fall off the map.
Only problem with skyhammer was that it showed to often. If I could set a limit of how many times I could play it I would be happy. But 3 in a row on yoloq…start raging.

I’m thrilled ! Yes, I hope the laser will be dogeable and maybe less powerful, and that there will be less glass panels. Abazigal is right : it’s great that you can’t bunker two points on every map and that’s it. Let’s hope that the new Skyhammer will please both the conservatives and the progressivists among us.
Only problems are:
1. Undodgable hammer.
2. Stealth pulls.
3. Mechanic bugs, like hammer portal, spawning under map and not dying from falling,
Anything else is ok.

I hope the hammer stays the way it is. Who controls the hammer makes a BIG impact on the match, and shakes up the usual rotations and team strategies you find on literally every other map.
I could do without the glass panels around points A and C, though. Stealth pulls aren’t fun.
Other than stealth pulls though, I like having to worry about being knocked off the edge as there’s legitimate counterplay to that. Positioning is important.
I hope they change the hammer to instead of doing damage, its a massive blowout and removes ALL BOONS, knocks you 2000 ft.
This is the only map they get to have fun with, stop listening to these whiners and make the map more enjoyable and less boring like the other maps.
You know why GW2 isn’t esports, because all these maps are boring, if any map would make GW2 esports its Skyhammer. People enjoy watching people suffer. Look at Leeroy Jenkins on WoW, its nothing but suffer for all those people in that video.
If anything this map should be focus team fights at hammer, and 1 maybe 2 people running around decapping and preventing decaps and caps.
All they need to do is remove the effectiveness of control spam for fall KOs. Then I’d play it.

I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.
I hope the change nerfs hammer and removes 1 shot from the map, otherwise I’ll be sad.
