And not every map needs to be perfectly friendly to every playstyle. I think it’s great that there’s at least one map where ranged can have a clear advantage over melee. With all the gap-closers and the terrain of other maps; we don’t really have much of that anywhere else.

You actually defend maps that give huge advantage to certain builds in RANKED matches? Are you serious? Melee do need gap closers because they keep eating dmg 24/7 trying to reach ranged that afk pew pew at them.
And please don’t bring up ports – classes that rely on ports lack in other departments.
Well then lets get started.
Favors Ranged? Bite me. Only hte central area has any favoritism for ranged.
Every Melee build has just as much a chance on every single node.
Side nodes? Oh hey Many melee builds can now TELEPORT THROUGH MOUNTAINS. Letting them completely take by surprise any ranged build moving in on or standing near the point. And theres this giant mountain in the way blocking the ranged builds attacks.
Suddenly your fighting in a confined arena with multiple locations to LoS projectile/beam style attacks. Those pillars around the points?
Oh they jumped onto the pillar? Then they aren’t contesting the point. Enjoy your free decap. Or if your defending chase htem up the pillar causing htem to jump down. Enjoy the merrygo round where they jump up and down up and down and contribute nothing to there team while you have someone rotate to you to help you kill him if you somehow magically need it.
As for eating damage 24/7…Stop lieing…seriously. There are SO MANY TOOLS for a melee build to reduce damage from ranged attacks. Lets take warrior for example.
Blocks with reflects. Evading gap closers. Stances to absorb damage. Incredible regen. In the end it evens out. As its supposed to.
Guardians on sky hammer? Teleport through the kitten ed mountain. You can easily target the defender/attacker by scrolling all the way out and tilting your camera up as your approaching. Letting you get a target on him for a teleport into f1 into blade wall into shield knockback into pull back through the blades.
Similar with revenants. Teleport into sword 3 or staff 5.
Thief ditto.
None of the nodes significantly favor ranged. Even with the overhead platforms (Which the ranged defender/attacker has to GIVE UP THE POINT to get to)
The ONLY area where you have even the SLIGHTEST justification is the central field. Which you should be spending hardly any time in. And if they nail you in the field its good on them. Because that is what they are SUPPOSED to do. Its on you for falling for it/Not paying attention.
Other maps are BRUTAL for ranged classes. Offering large amount of LOS options immediately in range of the point. But never ONCE have I seen someone speak up against these. In that case its just fair play right?

Edit 2: as for (non valid teleport pathing) Funny DH’s and theives and even mesmers/revs do it to me all the time. its something ive come to expect when I am attacking/defending a side node.

You can’t decap point when they pew pew at you from pillar…..
Yeah you can chase them to the pillar but by the time you get there you already took a lt of dmg and they can just jump down and back again.

Actually you can. EVERY class has a defensive option for ranged damage now
If you aren’t taking it and its killing you. Thats on you.
Edit: you can also stand UNDER the pillar and fire aoes up at him. Or just stay out of LoS so they cant do anything. While avoiding what few attacks they have that COULD hit you from there.

It isn’t all ranged that have an advantage. Hammer scrapper can put their gyro’s on the A/C pillars then jump down. They get a buff that you can’t kill from the ground.

Yes, I am serious. Besides all of the above responses on how to deal with range and other tactics on Skyhammer; I will defend that maps can favor certain playstyles/classes over others by their design and that’s ok.
Much in the same way that not every map in TF2 is great for Snipers and not every map in Overwatch is great for Pharah. You can still play those classes and be effective, just be aware of what people can do on the map. Play the game, maybe win anyway?, and the next map will probably better suit your class.
There’s a reason GW2 has voting based on a random selection of maps; there is no such thing as a perfectly balanced map. I guarantee that, if people could always play Legacy and only Legacy, there would be builds to specifically play on Legacy.
