Yolo queue FTW [YOLO] – Desolation (EU)
Champion Magus, Genius

Have you actually played this map against decent people? Considering your non-existant leaderboard ranking, I guess not.
Then you could tell me how a D/D Elementalist / Dps Guardian / Warrior are supposed to “position” themselves when they have to go into melee range of someone using the cannon…yeah, that puts them right in the middle of the cannon platform.
Or maybe you could tell me how a melee class is supposed to hold a side point with his back to the wall, all the time…hoping a stealthed thief doesn’t pull you down

Wow. In tPvP, the home of all wannabe pro players and Empathetic Fighter, can’t realize that once you get immobilized by an hammer guardian
Empathetic Fighter : rank 156 on eu leaderboards
Sorrow : nowhere to be found either in NA or EU
I guess we all know who to trust when it comes to high lvl tpvp …
This sorrow has just been all other those skyhammer posts trying to def how skill this map is with more than questionnable argument, he refuses to aknowledge the flaws of his argumentation.
Don’t get me wrong i’m not trying to insult him or anything, i don’t even know him, i m just stating the facts here.
, but I think the playerbase really needs an explanation for how such a terrible map got through the QA process
Read: I hate fun. I hate new things. Go away

o_o I like fun and new things, but not imbalanced competition. It’s still in the hotjoin servers :o go have some fun.
LoL, I just have a few rounds with my friends on what so called Skilled needed map, Skyhammet. We fight on even ground, then suddenly, my friend blast me away with his Flamethrower. Guess where I ended up with… On a glass of the lower floor and while my face still kicking the floor, the glass break…Whewww, so much for being skilled…
Fighting on the Cannon room at choke point as a Bunker Guardian, simply go in the middle and use shield 5, wheww, push 3 players off the other team drop to death. Yah, skill FTW….I did the same with my Necro, while they are busy fighting my teammates, sneaky kitten I am, throw Fear Mark right in the middle, Wheww, they flee on the ath of death…. So much for calling being competitive.
Sign…. Sure it is fun and fresh for a change, but in tPvP, it is just….horrible.
To sorrow: If you think the map really take skill to play, go play me on Cannon platform. No need to fight somewhere else because if you have the cannon, you win. So let see how your skill to positioning that matter in that platform…
I love the people that cry this map was removed only because so many people qq. Guess what? That’s what’s called a smart decision. What isn’t smart is forcing the majority to play a map it hates. Remove the fall deaths and I would be perfectly fine with the map. Otherwise its nothing but a cheap gimmick map imo.
I love people coming in here that I have never seen playing in tPvP saying this map is fine for tournaments. Perhaps its now because you feel like you have an equal footing against better teams? Too bad that the game had to add a cheap mechanic to make up for your lack of skill.
A gimmick team will beat a team of skilled player playing as a balanced team 9 times out of 10. Thats not creating variety and breaking meta, thats creating a new meta on a new map to take advantage of overpower map mechanics which eliminates individual player skill to an extreme degree.
Well, tPvP becomes just that much less interesting. Every time a new map is released, the tPvP community whines until it is removed because they don’t want to adapt. I guess if you want to play new fresh maps hotjoin is the only place to do it as tPvP gets more and more outdated. When they finally (hopefully) release a capture the flag map, the tPvP elites will probably complain about that as well. It’s too bad fun is thrown out of tPvP for what the “elite few” perceive as balance, which is in actuality just because they don’t want to play another way besides what they already know and use regularly.

Temple of the silent storm was not removed and was only tweaked to eliminate certain exploits (cough portal channeling cough), and it is still in rated match rotation, because, guess what, it’s a fun and balanced map.
Raid on the Capricorn, Spirit Watch, and not SkyHammer, are just bullkitten. Maybe SkyHammer will be able to return to map rotation with some (a lot of) tweaks someday, but as it is now, it’s not a map for competitive play.

In YOUR opinion.

I have a brain as much as Empathetic Fighter do.
Something I probably don’t have is the time Empathetic Fighter have to play the game as much as he does.
Does that mean that my opinion is less important that the one of that guy?
Is that hard to respond to the actual argumentations instead of saying “you are not in leaderboards, your opinion counts nothing”.
I’ve explained with logical and coehent argumentations why this map encourage different playstyle and skillplay.
All I got answered back is just “this map is bad” or “you’re saying bs”. You guys are just acting like you have no brains to form a counter argument against what I’ve said and you have to grasp at straws (ie “I don’t know who you are”) to make to your eyes my reasoning less valid.
I’m pretty sure you are capable to post something really worth to read and answer back instead of the usual senseless and logic-free posts you are making here.
Seems people can’t learn to play. Too many 1 v 1 s and 1 v 2s on maps like Spirit Watch and Skyhammer I guess. RIP the best of the maps. These secondary mechanics really change the games up. No longer can players just focus on holding points and killing players but have to actually fight off point over a cannon or an orb. These are the things that make the game interesting. Hopefully more valuable secondary mechanics can enter the game unlike kyhlo, forest, and foefire.
I agree entirely. PvP has been stale for quite some time. Matchups on Khylo, Foefire and Nilfhel are great and whatnot, but we’ve been doing them for a year. Spirit Watch and Skyhammer are a well enjoyed break.
If you yank this map from the rotation before players have time to figure out the map, you’re going to be doing it a disservice.
People kittened that they wanted something other than conquest, and here you’ve got 2 maps that emulate the flag cap and lighting pedestal maps in GW1 and people are revolting. I don’t get it at all.
I’ve RTL’d off a cliff on the map, shadowshotted to someone who just broke glass, gotten hit off the side, and it was frustrating. Equally as important, however, I’ve baited out people’s condicleanse with immobs and then surprise shotted them as I kited through a glass panel. I’ve avoided line-dash attacks by booking it to a jump panel. I’ve had 3D teamfights and intercepted people using jump panel-only routes out of the side points. If you’re getting knocked into these panels, its 100% a problem with your play. Including (especially!) in the cannon room.

If they would implement another queuing system there wouldn’t be that much QQ. I’ve said it before but we need to be able to chose our own map pool when queuing for tournies.
Thank you anet!
This map ruined the competitive sPvP tournement but it’s very fun so i am happy to play skyhammer only in hot join browser!

The fact that A-Net needed 4 MONTHS to create this map is just… wow, I can’t find words for this. Other developers create 10 maps in 4 months. wtf is wrong here?
It is because they’ve had a handful of people solely devoted to sPvP.
If they would implement another queuing system there wouldn’t be that much QQ. I’ve said it before but we need to be able to chose our own map pool when queuing for tournies.
This game’s matchmaking is the most unpolished i have ever seen.
If the game’s gameplay ever had a shot at being popular the whole ‘how to get into a match’ aspect, gave it a terrible shot at it.

I can vouch for this. We scrimmed Lagger Tag, never having won a scrim against them. But having played this a little the previous night had already come up with a good enough gimmick comp to win a Bo5 (we also had Jirafe from PINK acting as a sub).

This would cut the mappool in pieces however as you would have some teams sticking to queueing to only 1 or 2 maps whereas others queue for another 1-2 maps.. thus increasing the queue and with an increase in queue, people may just find it tedious to continue.
Now I forgot who posted this:
Here’s a list of mistakes you have to do to be pushed off a cliff:
- Didn’t brought a proper stunbreaker
– Had no good positioning
– Had no stability on when you was in a dangerous spot
– Didn’t pushed off the enemy first
– Didn’t prevented the CC to be applied with any sort of blocks/invulnerability/evade
– Didn’t teleported away from the ledge you fell from.
But as a response, theres always the possibility to avoid being knocked to the ground, but you could just as easily use these knockbacks on other maps to send them flying, problem is that noone does it because if it doesn’t instantly kill the opponent, it isn’t deemed valuable enough.
So why is that do you think? Knocking opponents away from trebuchets at kyhlo, knocking them down in the holes on the temple of the silent storm.. and so forth, you know? Theres always been a use for these skills but the people who seem interested in skyhammer seem to have been oblivious to their use before they had the possibility to actually hit the brand new iWin buttons who sent enemies flying to their death.
Furthermore, you are aware that stability is not something easily accessible for all professions yes? You are also aware that “good positioning” is simply a matter of reacting to the other players positioning? You are also aware that not all builds nor professions have an easy time actually pushing the opponents off? There’s not enough blocks/invuls/evades availible to prevent being knocked off by a engineer.
Oh and I wouldn’t give much for the teleport, I’ve used both phase retreat and blink several times and quite often I must add, I’ve blinked through the ground or hit a invisible wall located perfectly upon a glass-floor. Stunbreaks also have a longer cooldown than most knockbacks.
You actually only need to end up with a single one of these things you listed to fall off the map.
Should you however not be pushed off you always have the easily accesible cannon that provides you full vision over the map and a trebuchet á Kyhlo that requires no aiming AND is unavoidable.
No there is simply no place for a map like this in competitive pvp, it is more about fighting the map than the other team.
