Please make more maps like this. I admit to disliking the map at first but once I adjusted my build accordingly I haven’t played any other map because it’s simply that much fun. I hope developers keep up the good work and come up with more great map designs where the environment plays a major role in fights.

It’s great for trolling people, if you are into that sort of thing. Not sure if it should be taken seriously as a competitive map, though I have fun each time it shows up in the rotation. It is the only map where I find myself wanting some way to quickly change builds.

In my experience, people who complain the most are the ones who play the more overpowered professions. They only have offensive utilities, nearly no stability, and get mad because they aren’t as successful at bursting people since they are actually vulnerable in some way on this map, a welcomed change from a warrior’s point of view.

I like it, just doesn’t seem tournament ready. My main problem is how small the laser platform is; it’s just a little too cc friendly. The rest of the map is fine.

hate this map – and i leave always when this map comes in rotation

their are now many troll maps so arenanet should maby make 2 rotations for hotjoin
something like:
- Tournament maps (all maps which can be in tournament)
- others (like capricorn, skyhammer and maby sprit watch)

You shouldn’t hate a map just because it isn’t “tournament ready”. It is really fun to play because you have to play much differently in order to succeed and the knock-out element is great! (Plus I think people use the term “troll” incorrectly when giving their thoughts on this map)

Look at ARAM in LoL. It isn’t a “tournament ready” map, but many people still enjoy it

I have been gaming online since 1994 and have played most mmo’s and mainly pvp focused.
I can say that from all the mmo’s I’ve played this is by far the worst designed and the most combat disencouraging pvp map I played until this day…

I always, and always will skip that data garbage a-net calls “pvp map”.

I wonder why you think you have to state some sort of pointless credentials to state your opinion? Also, you seem overly frustrated, I can practically picture you get thrown off the ledge in Skyhammer from your post alone.

First time I played Skyhammer? Hated the map to pieces. Maybe it was the comp I was up against, which at the time seemed like nothing but greatsword mesmers and engies who did nothing but chuck you off the edge at every opportunity. Since then, I don’t know if it’s been my improved awareness or what, but it’s been far more engaging. Funnest, most intense fights have been over the laser on that tiny platform. Literally on-the-edge combat.

Improvements? I have two things. There is a place on either side of the laser platform near the door you can get easily get ‘caught’ behind. I’m not talking about getting stuck in the geometry or anything, but where the bank of the sides meets the path to the door prevents fluid movement and is incredibly annoying.

Secondly the only way to access the overlooks on points A and C is to chance a run in front of the defenders of the point. Sure, you can blow a stability, but I would prefer more than one access point. I mean there just seem to be quite a few useless (ie not used) ledges around the area which could be opened up a bit, namely by making them easier to get up onto.

It’s only fun in hotjoin scenarios when nobody really knows what they are doing. Then you can just run in circles around the skyhammer platform and kill 3 people that way as they try to catch you. Obviously it’s going to be terrible once an entire team knows how to abuse their ccs.

Mechanically I think the big problem is that players now have the capability of one-shotting another player with minor skills. Fear, knockback etc. now have the capability of completely reversing a fight. While I have fun playing this map, the mechanics make winning or losing much more random than in the other maps.
