Slight skill delay?
I could be your internet connexion. It happens to me sometimes with Overcharge Shot as well and Withdraw, so maybe certain skills do that more often?
I’ll give you an advice about how to set your combos on engineers. One combo I like is Magnet → Pry Bar → Overcharged Shot. Now, when you switch to your rifle, make sure to hit the TOOL KIT SKILL, and not drop bundle: the effect is the same, but it does not interrupt your skills. That way, you can switch to your rifle while hitting with the pry bar, and OS right after. Maybe you knew that already, but that could a reason for not performing your combos as fast as the top engineers.
Ahh thanks for the tip. Is the drop bundle slower for all kits? That could be the solution for the combos if so. I always use drop bundle. But I still noticed the delay on Overcharge Shot and other instant casts.
Edit: I just checked and Stow Kit is significantly better than Drop Bundle. Thanks again Sorel^^

You’re welcome. I was already a Champion Genius when I found this trick, so better late than never^^. Stow Kit is better in general, but you can use Drop Bundle to interrupt for example Magnet Pull, and make the enemy waste a dodge.
I noticed recently that I physically cannot pull off some of the combos that the “pros” do in some of their YouTube videos or on Twitch. I can press all of the buttons quickly but it just seems that the skills do not activate fast enough. It’s not a huge delay but definitely enough to notice as a reasonably experienced player.
Examples: Overcharged Shot on Engineer isn’t exactly instant cast. There’s like a little 1/4th to 1/2 second delay. Same with Elixir S.
I know fractions of a second don’t seem like much, but when creating and using combos it can mean all the difference in the world.
*My questions: Do others have/notice this slight delay? Is there any way to fix it? Is the delay just a part of the game mechanics?
Note: My ping is usually around 50ms to 100ms. I post this in the PvP section because I feel like competitive PvP players would have the most experience in noticing or reducing any skill delay.
I am also having this issue. My warrior rampage skills are delayed noticeable .
Also I can’t land mace stuns because of the server.
I actually made a post on this in the Mesmer forums today and have a video clip of the delayed reaction I’ve noticed. Mesmers typically combo Sword 3 > Sword 2 but it takes several button presses before Sword 2 activates in the 6:40 mark of the following video.
Lee Oren – Ranger
Eve Oren – Revenant
