Slow Growth
You’re fighting low mmr teams. I believe that it scales based off of that.
Seeing some dev responses and stuff, what i understand about the system is this: mmr =/= W/L ratio.
They already had your rating before the season, the 10 placement matches are just to see how much you deviate from it. So, we all have our own mmr and stuff, and we earn mmr by winning matches, but its not tied to W/L… wtf anet?
Explanation: You have an mmr rating, that “shows how well you play/ how good your opponents are”. Since its not based on W/L (which forces you to 50/50) yet you only increase it when you actually win, if you are already placed in your pre-season mmr it won’t change as fast as if you were above or below it.
So its nearly impossible to actually grow in this season, i for instance can’t get to gold because I’m losing more points per loss than what i’m gaining from my wins, because “I’m where i should be”. Wins and losses doesn’t mean anything when gaining or losing mmr, but your deviation from where you should be does. That’s flawed :/
i would rather go up slowly then what im getting. i will go up 100 rank points then down 100 all day long

Imagine going +10 / -10 all day long :P
100 at least takes you somewhere if u manage to win 2-3 in a row.

I wouldn’t. It’s like I showed. I’ve won 9 out of the last 10 matches. I’m still negative points because the loss dragged me down so far, and I’m only gaining a couple points per game. I literally cannot play any better.
This is the worst system ever, similar system is introduced in lol and wow, and people always tell the devs it is the most kittened system ever and yet anet decided to introduce it in their game.
You win – you get kitten
You lose- you lose a lot
At some point you have to win around 4-5 games to compensate 1 loss, not to mention the system is flawed and couples you with players it thinks you will lose/win and based on that judgement you can get a huge rating hit if you win too many matches in a row.
The system can be played though and if you want to keep on climbing the ladder steadily you have to know which matches to lose and which ones to win.
The biggest flaw of the system is even though you are paired with randoms you are still rewarded/penalized for their achievements/mistakes. This is simply unfair as you are not teamed with people you know, hell, they can even give a crap about winning which is pretty common recently.
My experience at the moment is my team either knows what to do and enemy has no clue about basics of pvp or the other way around. Either way it is not a pleasant experience because matches feel either annoying or like training dummies.
