Smokescale knockdown=unblockable
Takedown from the Smokescale is unblockable.
I got knocked down when casting Stone Sheath and it passes through arcane shield.
Yes. Its also one of the only ranger attacks in our entire kitten nal that is so. Meaning its our only method of fighting things like chronomancers and herald revenants.
I SERIOUSLY hope this is intended. Because otherwise… Well who am I kidding. Non druid rangers are kitten tier anyway might as well get rid of us entirely. Hey. Itl hurt the druid too so two birds with one stone >.<.
Now that the salt is out of the way. Yes it is unblockable. And yes I hope it stays that way.
I do not however think its op. Its attack suffers from all the issues pet attacks have. The biggest one being we can’t control it without jumping through serious hoops to manipulate our pets cooldowns that ultimately causes us to be less effective in combat.
I believe it should infact have the unblockable skill fact added to the skill description. Because frankly. Its one of best things about this pet. And I wasn’t joking when I said its one of the only methods non druid rangers have of tripping up certain elite spec builds. If it goes away… I am pretty sure ill just give up at that point. The last few weeks have been hell anyway.
Edited for accuracy
Well… Unblockable attacks need not to be given away for no reasons, Shadelang. You don’t give unblockable “just because”; something in the skill needs to make it clear that it is unblockable.
All I see from rangers is them wanting broken and senseless stuff to balance their “inferiority complex”. Sorry if it’s not the case for you, but you’re probably the sort that would defend how bristlebacks used to have 35k health. You guys put your cards into the most idiotic things; I remember people defending unblockable/undodgeable taunts, defending the ultime boon copy from Heal as One… Etc.

…cmon Taunt is crappy GM now.
Revenant got twice longer passive Taunt, lol.

I agree that you shouldn’t have unblockable things just bc. But Rangers have zero unblock able attacks. So is it completely unreasonable for a pet to have one?

That’s in the past. People defended the bug, just like I see from Shadelang.

They don’t even have control over that unblockable. Rangers should ask for something unblockable on their control instead of a random and frustrating thing.

Maybe, but still is it unreasonable for a pet to have an unblock able attack?

Exactly. We don’t have control over it. So we have an INFERIOR unblockable mechanic. Thank you for better showing why this isn’t nearly as bad as your making it out to be.
Edit: You also havn’t addressed ANY of the points for keeping it.
Maybe, but still is it unreasonable for a pet to have an unblock able attack?
Repeat it 3 times in your head very quickly?
I think it is very unreasonable for this pet to have an attack that is above all logic. Think about it for a moment. Why on earth is it okay for it to be unblockable aside from the assertion that rangers are…. underpowered?

Well, it procs randomly. Why make the game a more frustrating experience? I am pretty sure that you find this quite strong when you interrupt a revenant with that.

Why is it okay for auras to have zero counterplay other than stop attacking? See I can do this too. Theres no reason for a pet NOT to have an unblockable attack. Especially considering all the things rangers DON’T get because of there pets.
This attack has a slower and more obvious telegraph than most. I am sorry you didn’t think the guys pet was a threat and chose to ignore it and apparently got rolled by it.
Now give us a GOOD reason for this ONE pet not to have a form of attack that the ranger itself CAN’T have.
Edit: also If you played ranger youd realise it WASN’T random. It follows a VERY predictable pattern based on your range from the target. Just like every other pet does.

You didn’t really answer the question. “An attack that is above all logic”. K. Good reasoning. There are a lot of attacks that defy all logic. Why on earth is it not ok for a pet to have an unblockable attack? Bc you don’t want to pay attention to the pet?
It is not OP whatsoever. Rangers/druids do not have an unblockable attack besides Entangle (I’m pretty sure). Besides it procs its CC once you swap to Smokescale so just play around it.
Yes it is. Can’t let rangers have counterplay though! NERF IT!
But really don’t. We need this.
Am I good?… I’m good.
People get more upset losing to Ranger/Druid then any other class. WHY.

If the pet is equally a threat. Why is it justified that bark skin reduce the damage by 50% to the pet? It should be 33% if the pet is as dangerous as the player, no?

Or should it be 50-50%?
All of you guys are insane. Unblockable effects are ridiculous. The tons of block skills people have nowadays are ridiculous. Auras are ridiculous, let’s just passively give people exactly what they want. Why do we need cancer like this in the game?

Because thats how you sell box of HoT to average casual.
You give him passive cancer.
So really, a ele/tempest crying over a single pet skill ? When it’s the class with full auras and counter ranger ranged attacks ?
Since you were using Conjure Earth Shield, you have Magnetic Shield which is unblockable. What’s up ?
Just get a stun break and get over it.
rofl.
Why would anyone want an unblockable on a pet anyways, you cant control when it happens so its completely unreliable.

Apparently it’s enough to ask to make it blockable and nerf it. The only pet with a random unblockable skill. Also, the only unblockable skill for ranger beside traps, sic em and entangle.
Why would anyone want it ? Because it’s better than not having it.
OP, are you gonna cry about Malicious Reprisal (When one of your attacks is blocked, your next attacks will be unblockable.) too when you won’t know which skill gonna be unblockable ?
Oh no! The pet actually poses a threat (when they are meant to…), Anet please nerf

With experience you can learn to anticipate when it is available and when it will be used. Therefore, you can psuedo-control it.
Am I good?… I’m good.
I’m calling it now:
Next week’s balance patch: Smokescales’ knockdown gets nerfed; ele arcane evasion also procs unblockable aoe knockdown.
Well… Unblockable attacks need not to be given away for no reasons, Shadelang. You don’t give unblockable “just because”; something in the skill needs to make it clear that it is unblockable.

I heared eles defend their diamond skin like there is no tomorrow, whine about your own class dude.
It is not OP whatsoever. Rangers/druids do not have an unblockable attack besides Entangle (I’m pretty sure).
Every single trap except Healing Spring is unblockable.
That’s one of two big problems in here.
Many guys are arguing that it is ok to be unblockable because ranger doesn’t have unblockable attacks. Like said: traps, so this is invalid.
Second: Everyone is claiming about the “ranger nerfs”. Get your informations right, please. If you are building up AF with regeneration on a target with FULL HEALTH, this is not intended, it is a bug. Bug fixes aren’t nerfs! They are just fixing things which should have never happened. Same for the “bristleback nerf” last time, it isn’t a nerf, because bristleback was never meant to have so many HP.
I think the unblockable knockdown should be made blockable. All other knockdowns on pets like dogs are blockable, so this would be more consistent. And the arguement “we can’t cast it on our own” can be used on both sides. If you aren’t able to cast it yourself, why complain about it being removed?
Still there. Better warn other players.
