Snowball Mayhem > sPvP
I also agree that Anet should begin testing flag carry/capture mechanics for regular PvP. There would be some difficulties, obviously (i.e. teleports must drop flag) but overall I think the profession balance could support it, or is close to that point.
Absolutely agreed.
I mean just strap this format into the mists permamently, along with the helloween pvp format, dont even change the holiday theme if it’s too much work – you will make a ton of players happy and pvp community will flourish.
It kinda sucks as well. I randomly take 13k damage in a single shot. I have the Knight amulet equipped as well. Nothing should be doing that much damage.
its somewhat shocking to find that a holiday minigame has better esports viability then the actual structured pvp game, it has alot to do with the fact there is none of this bunker/roamer/support meta stupidity, in a multiplayer rpg pvp game the player should not be rewarded because of there class role, they should be rewarded for the way they utilize there skills

This guy.
Your gear has no effect on game play in the snowball fights, the only thing that can make you stand out from other players is your unique #6 skill, and any buffs you pick up.
You are being ‘sniped’ the shot takes a good long while to line up, about 4 seconds IIRC, so when you see someone standing still with their pants down, break los with them, or dodge when they fire. Or if you are support, build a wall in front of you, or heavy gunner, unload a reflective shield and watch the scout snipe himself for almost all his hp.
In my opinion, this game mode works so well because it is very restrictive and can be balanced very easily, along with the ability to swap out class upon death. It’s still funny to see how l2p issues still arise in such a simple game mode, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see ‘nurf scouts’ appear in the forums, when a heavy gunner with double regen can take on the world..
damn i can’t believe how fun snowball mayhem is! geez if they only design activities such as this everytime, Ill be forever happy.

tbh, capture the flag mechanics like this would work in sPVP
It is really fun, and lots of people are playing it
Also, nerf scouts xD
Players have been saying since day 1 that more formats of sPvP would help a lot. I find it very strange that Anet develop this kind of fundamental improvement but then only put it into a temporary seasonal feature.
So much benefit could be gained from adding this to the map rotation of sPvP.
i like it too… it just proves that some kind of CTF would be good mode
but again, i think they already said new modes will probably come, but at first they need to finish core features as rating, ladder etc…
Just loved it. Played it the whole day yesterday, if you make it so it gives glory/rank, I am fairly sure that a considerable part ot the people doing hot join will switch to it. It is faster paced and don’t know why but somehow doesn’t feel as frustrating as the spvp ( that could be beucase at that point it is easy for someone who has done a fair bit of pvp to dominate pve people that are still bad at it and have come to try it out)
I’d love to see this mode stay and even become legit PvP mode with glory rewards.
God yes, we so need something like this in sPvP. Ive been a PvP player for years but tbh have been so dissapointed with GW2 PvP (especially the stupid lobby type entry) I refused to play it.
If this is a sign of things to come Im def going to start PvP again
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
Even if i would agree with ANETs philosophy, that conquest mode is better suited as an esport/for tournaments…
The WD-sPvP is a blast of fun and hav to agree with the other players.
PUG/Fun (Team) Deathmatch & Capture the Flag modes are best suited to get new players into PvP in the first place (..and WvW ofc^^).
Suggestions for Rentable Arenas:
- Let players access/rent those Halloween/WD maps/game modes
- Make all current sPvP maps available to play in other Modes like: (T)DM and/or CTF
(…or even the WD-CTF version incl. the classes)
—>This way playerbase can “experiment” which maps/modes are fun/interessting to play
—>Devs can better fetch statistics on maps& favoured game modes for future tournaments et.

And you can be shot at with that from stealth! This is however twice as balanced as stuff in sPvP. Why? It takes ~4sec to fully charge while rooting you, and even if you use stealth beforehand you will have invested bigtime for that potential damage (using 2 skills with cooldowns, doing nothing for 4 sec).
It had to be said. And this really says lots of things about the current state of spvp
Problem I encou tered is that ppl can go and leave whenever they want. Full party one sec and like 5 secs later everybody is gone.
Snowballs are really great. IMO snowballs > sPvP… sad but true. I just hope that next year they will make some tournaments like in GW1 with some nice rewards.

I think that’s a bug with the party frame. Team members who are far away drop off, but they are still in the game and will reappear once you get near to them again.
As I said in another topic, this activity is really fun. They should really add a non Christmas version playable in PvP. They could also just replace the gift with another thing without changing the map.
I don’t agree.
On a casual level it’s fun as hell, but I personally can’t play it for more than 15 or so minutes (conversely I can’t play sPvP for more than that long due to burst thieves, but 5v5 is fun). I would love to see ctf in the game with the classes in the games balanced around that though.
The snowball mini-game doesn’t have enough depth for me to play extensively, but I do agree it is fun.
