Far longer than I would, because I hate the enclosed spaces. Played a P/P thief with ricochet trait, pretty decent. I’m still not sure how I feel about it. Feels way too hectic. I mean, even when I WvW there doesn’t seem to be too much going on. I guess it’s because it’s not over 40 people, but a group of 12(?) in one enclosed space, feels like you’re more right in the thick of it. I don’t know where I’m going with this, I guess I just wanted somewhere to put my thoughts.

Umm… I think the game mode is neat, but after playing it for 12 hours, I can see both the appeals and the turn offs, and I hope Anet can work to make it more appealing to veterans and people relatively new to it like myself in the future. Thanks for reading.

try 5v5 hotjoin < soloq arena < teamq arena if you really want to be more competitive.

One of the reasons why WvW turns me off is because I find it boring . And when I do get some action it’s all zergy – meaning I don’t get a chance to be a real hero and save the day (yeah I’m a sucker for that crap!)

sPvP is perfect. Non stop excitement where what you do matters. At least in 5v5 matches.

dont waste your time with spvp – most broken thing

hotjoin is just zerging, soloQ you have to play bad maps and rewards suck and teamQ you get farmed from teams sitting in ts playing 5x bunkercrap

dont waste your time, its annoying

It’s funny cause whenever beginners end up in solo que people tell them to go kitten themselves and that they should play hotjoin first. I’m not saying that’s the case with you but I’m just throwing that out there.

Servers with #s above I believe 100 are 5v5 instead of 8v8 and IMO are much more enjoyable as it’s less of a zerg hairball and a lot more 1v1.

Well I like WoW’s Rated BG’s, and these are more or less the same, with some differences here and there. I don’t know why this one seems to be out of my comfort zone, but I’ll keep trying. As I said, I’m more used to roaming, finding 1v1/2’s if I can survive. It’s just a new experience for me I guess.

The main difference between GW2 PvP and most other MMO’s PvP is that in GW2, everyone has top-tier stats.

It sounds like you might be used to winning 1v2’s in WvW or in other MMOs…that’s still possible in GW2 PvP but it’s extremely difficult.

Start off with 5 v 5 hotjoin and then move to solo queue arean once you have are comfortable with conquest. As long as you don’t have sky high expectations about losing and winning (45-50% win percentage is perfectly acceptable and doesn’t mean you are bad) you can have fun. Team arena to me is for very dedicated players unless you want to lose a lot.

I always try to pick out those with similar gear, and I can tell dungeon/Ascended gear from regular gear you can get at the WvW Karma vendor. Even if I don’t recognize when they hit me, it pretty much tells me the scope of their gear. Hear In SPvP it’s a bit harder because gear is equalized in all but runes/necklaces.
