So Legendary players are farming us.
Would have been nice if they gave us some free division or tier ranks depending on the position we were in last season (as they do in hearthstone… (as everyone has to keep referencing for good ideas since this game always has problems))
(edited by Hammerguard.9834)
Then stop que for 2-3days while we advance? System pushed us out faster to higher division so you wont run into us at lower ones.
Playing Smite since mid s2, f broken gw2.
Would have helped a lot if all diamond and legendary from last season would have skiped amber. The system might work but the start is a slaughterhouse.
It’s not that bad. I’ve lost 3 and won 4 so far. Had a thief in foefire “lost” at start of a match cause he said he’d never played this map before, made me chuckle a fair bit. Got belted, least it was quick.
It is certain that, as always, anet is working hard to ensure fair matches. Doubtless there is some reason for mixing players of all levels together.
I have no doubt personally that anet believed that it would create a situation of level playing fields and fun matches for all.
Having lost more than 30 straight matches, ( gaining an entire pvp level in the process, ) I finally defaulted out of the lowest amber rank with two wins and two comeback bonus pips.
I can tell you that receiving those extra pips more than compensated for the many games in which I saw 3-4 teammates head home at the opening of the match and similar displays of skill.
Hopefully such displays of mastery will continue as I advance.
The old system totally failed on making divisions a reflection of “skill”.
Many people reached high divisions, but everyone did it on his own “MMR bracket”.
The current system is far better for this purpose, but it obviously has the downside of completely unbalanced matches at the beginning of every new season.
Average and below average players (hard to tell without any access to our MMR rating, but easy to guess after looking at the outcome of a few matches under the new matchmaking) should probably take it easy during the first days (maybe just play 3 matches for the legendary backpack achievements if they’re interested on it) and let other people advance.
Trying to climb divisions through grind against a below 50% winrate is not going to solve anything, as you’ll keep getting paired mostly against higher MMR players who are not spamming so many games.
I knew this will happen, even in amber u compete like a legendary player… I was diamond last season, I’m in division 2 now and there is a competition like in legendary division… I’m not saying that I’m bad, but sometimes a freshman is dead in 2 sec 1vs1..that’s normal?! How should I go up more in divisions when idiots like these players end up in my team?
@Vargamonth.2047
Am I to understand that you recommend that players do not play PvP? Of course, it makes sense that all other players should stand aside for the ESL pro players and those of similar skill levels.
After all, it stands to reason that those without very high skill levels don’t deserve to be able to queue and enjoy the game. Does it not?
That poses the question, however. if all except the ELS players will stop playing in order to wait them out, how those ESL players are going to advance? Wouldn’t it be better, then to actually play more, in order to feed them wins that much faster?
Remember, remember, 15th of November

I recommend to not spam RANKED games.
Unlike the previous one, this is not a grind friendly system. If you want to play PvP, just play the 3 daily games for the league achievements if you are interested, and then play unraked as much as you want (which is going to provide fairier matches at this point).
After a few days, there will be some kind of MMR spread between divisions and you’ll have a much more enoyable experience in ranked arenas.
isnt that how it should be?

ESL players are not the only ones advancing fast right now.
I’m certainly not ESL material and I’ve won every single match I’ve played today while playing on alts for the class achievements.
About 50% of the PvP population should be experiencing an above 50% winrate, so there’s no reason to wait for them.
The only time a player should think about stopping (or moving to unranked for a while) is when facing a clearly sub 50% winrate.
So, by your own admission, you are advocating a good portion of the pvp population not playing.
Please explain why that is not elitist? My win rate was a bit above 50% prior to the season and I just experienced a 30+ match loss streak.
Do you believe I should not be permitted to play?
everyone is at amber and emerald atm, its like a marathon when everyone at the start and the good players start running fast and all is left at the end are bad players

Counter, by profession stacking on your side! I didn’t know the other team had options your team did not.
I note that your post is a near copy of another post on the forum. Let me correct your simile;
What you attempted to say is that events like a marathon are divided. The fastest runners are released first. This prevents collisions and injuries in the early part of the race.
Vargamoth made reference to the same idea by suggesting that players avoid pvp to allow the stronger players to move out of amber.
I find the suggestion deeply elitist.
Please explain why I should not be able to play, for the convenience of more skilled players? Also, please explain why I should not be able to get a level playing field for the first several days of the season?
I recommend to do a 2-3 man premade like every top players do. I keep playing solo as 60-70% of the matches team mates doesn’t even help so i have to 1v2 1v3 a lot and that increased my skill as much like i usually never lose 1v1.
The new system is meant to have your division at the end of the season reflecting your skill level. So if you are ruby and you see a diamond, you know this guy is better than you. This was not the case last season. Top-tier players had as much difficulty leaving amber as a complete noob. This also created the concept of “MMR tanking”.
Now in this season, the first days, maybe the first week will be quite awful for many, and of course it can be frustrating. Maybe a-net should have a warning at the beginning of the game during the first week like “beware, this will be tough this week” to make sure people understand this is temporary and not loose hope.
But this frustration is the price to pay for a good final result. Is there any better way to do it which removes or reduces the initial frustration while still keeping the final division = skill goal? Probably, and if you have an idea, suggest it. But just complaining isn’t enough since it is currently working as intended.
I’ll just say one thing, I am legendary and is super fun to PwN “new” PvP players.

It’s not for the convenience of more skilled players. Those are going to advance without problems anyways and open a gap once they reach the divisions where pip and tiers can be lost.
It’s just for saving less skilled players from an experince they could find disgusting. If you’re having terrible losing streaks but you’re still having fun, there’s no problem if you keep playing (I just think that playing unranked could easily provide a far better experince during the first season days).
Could the system be tweaked so less skilled players don’t met this situation at the beginning of every next season? Sure.
We could have, for example, some pre-season qualifying games and directly place players into higher tiers or even divisions from the very beginning (these qualifiers would be, however, the same slaughterhouse as amber is right now, and not every player is guaranteed to partake on them, specially if they’re interested on some easy wins for profession achievements), or we could just do it directly based on MMR.

Or people could just deal with the fact that leagues are suppossed to be a reflection of skill and realise that the first few days if they spam the queue and aren’t as good as they thought they were they might eat some thumpings. Leagues are suppossed to be a measure of skill or they aren’t. There really are no half measures. Basically last season you could grind your way to Ruby with ease and Diamond with out much more difficulty basically. Now people expect that to be the case going forward. Those two leagues are probably meant for like 10% of the player base combined.
Just let diamond and legendary from last season skip amber ….
why would anyone want to skip amber? those dyes and pvp tickets for crossing divisions/tier are worth money :P
Ppl need to stop complaining and embrace the fact that they suck imo. I know it must be hard for most to realize this but most of us legendaries will steamroll u.
Most lower rated guys blamed their lack of succes on anything but their own lack of skill. Now u realize….u actually do suck.
Losing 20 in a row? Impossible if youre decent.

Well, how low is your MMR? Kappa

Maybe it’s because you have a low MMR.. Kappa. Saying this because some people have being advocating that MMR is still used, which is true. But they should specify to what extent.
Sorry
Played a couple games yesterday. Got on a long win streak, but it only got us barely out of Amber. Which means we are still matched with some high pip Amber.
Rest assured, the majority of the LX+ players don’t want to farm Amber. We just can’t get out fast enough because it requires us to play like 10 matches even with win streak to get out. That means somewhere, someone got 10 losses.
Already quit PvP. Just log in here and there to troll.
…Do you believe I should not be permitted to play?
Yes. Every time you post on these forums I cringe.
