So, any plans to bring eles into viability?

You should expect the same treatment ele’s have gotten the last 9 months.
Lower all attunement cooldowns to 3 seconds baseline (0 seconds with 30 Arcana), make Elemental Attunement a base mechanic, put in something that stops repeat might stacking when going into Fire. Done and done.
Yeah, these buffs seem extreme but that’s what is required thanks to the power creep that’s happened with the 7 other classes. This is where we are.
Currently we have a class with the lowest armor & health, over 50% of their weapon abilities are complete garbage, slow telegraphed attacks, long cooldowns, mediocre mobility, ridiculous skill requirement (it’s like playing a piano)…….at least give that class access to constant boon uptime and ALL their abilities on demand?
Whenever I get bored of other classes and try my hand at TPvP with Ele, I feel like I’m playing a turtle that’s made out of tissues who spends most of their time deciding when to use Vapor Form during during downed state.
I’m not particularly good at PvP (only rank 30), but a well-designed shouldn’t NEED the player to be a freaking genius to be at least somewhat effective and not feel like the weakest link in your team.
Not asking Ele’s to be brought down to Thief/Ranger level in terms of newbie-friendly class that can succeed with 2-3 buttons, but come on…

I’ve try a berserker ele whit staff, 30/10/0/0/30, in TsPvP.
Foefire map.
Fire attunement, frostbow like utility.
Go up near the mid where no one can attack you in melee. Then spam AoE skills like a crazy rabbit into a cauldron!!!!
Swap in lightning attunement to AoE stun and in Water attunement for heal your team. Then bach in fire attunement to hit your enemy!
Whit fire AoE skills and frozen bow AoE skill, you can do more than 3.5k damage per second.
You’re in a place hard to find and you’re not killed by melee because they don’t hit you and you can attack them easy whit your AoE skills.
That build work well in Foefire an Temple map.
The only problem: you’re weak if the enemy find you and if the enemy do is better that you know how to run XD
But whit swiftness of the staff, AoE stun and mistform there’s not all that problems to run away.
I’ve played with a lot of bad eles.
I also played with one last night who single-handedly carried our team, including soloing the other team’s lord on Foefire.
Maybe some buffs are called for, but perhaps people who aren’t good with ele on PvP should practice it or play something else. Clearly there are folks who can handle themselves pretty well in PvP.
Eles who can handle them selves in PvP are in most cases so ridiculously skilled it´s not even funny anymore.
Only thing is noone with any other profession has reached their level of skill because its impossible to gain skill with the current meta builds.
For skill to improve it must be trained, in gaming case thru a playstyle requiring a lot of skill.
Ele needs tons of skill, + even more tons because its sub par by design. The only ones improving in this game are eles.
Only because ele players are just better then everyone else it doesn´t mean they need to be balanced against that.
Its like having a kungkittenmaster beating a power-rangers megazoid and cutting off the kungkittenmasters legs because he was able to beat something 10k times as powerful as himself by being good at what kungkitten

Edit: Do I have to understand this ridiculous censorship on an Chinese melee combat style? O.o

Lol, if they SLIGHTLY buff eles eles will still be up. If eles get buffed to be balanced everyone will Q.Q because their new ele overlords will kitten their faces off due to being used to having to handle a sub par kit to kill better kits. If the kits are the same lvl suddenly eles will be the ultimate overlords they deserve to be.
Not due to OPness but due to SKILL

I personnaly think Eles are actually a good example of balance.
Doesn’t mean they don’t need tweaking/bug fixes/optimization and such., but balanced as in not overpowered, and fair skill/efficiency ratio.
If anything, most classes/builds fotm’ing rampage through pvp need to be toned downed on par with them.
Not the contrary.
No power creep.
edit – on a side note, this comment is excluding instant cast abilites which are an abomination when they involve burst.

Not even only noobs lose to diamond skin eles. They suck I didn’t even need golem lmfao
People should really check out all the threads from 6-8 months ago that were like “so, any plans to bring warriors into viability?”
Anet has proven they will listen to the community when it repeatedly calls for huge buffs to an underpowered profession. So can we be a little more careful this time, please?
ele already had its moment. rangers’ time has yet to come.
ele already had its moment. rangers’ time has yet to come.
What? Ranger’s time has never ended. They are still one of the best pvp classes and always have been. Now, whether you like whatever OP Ranger build is dominant is another question.
To answer the OP – I think the plan is to ignore it until it goes away. Maybe if they do nothing to buff survivability long enough, everyone will completely give up on the class and nobody will care complain about it anymore.
Fixing it would mean lowering CD of skills that are grossly underpowered given their effects (armor of earth, fire shield on focus, gale on focus, freezing gust, ride the lightning at 40s), lowering the cast time on skills or buffing their active effects (dragon’s tooth, shatterstone, most signets with terrible actives, lightning surge, eruption), and giving traits that help survivability at intervals less than 75-90s at adept level.
There are a lot of things that are just down-right broken that could be quickly adjusted to bring them in line, but they’d rather just get guardians in a good spot – that is priority #1.

Lets see, petting zoo which had it latest appearaeance (to my knowledge) in about ALL tournaments, in fact, last MLG thy had 3x% representation….which was more than 4 other classes combined….in fact, in that same MLG, we had ZERO eles. Lets kick it up a notch; latest 2v2 tournament, finalist and about almost every team had a petting zoo ranger.
And lets kick yet another notch; how about instead of having cyclic periods of good and bad classes, we try to strike something in between, something….that resembles balance…
