So diamond almost impossible now?

Good, bad, skilled, not skilled, these things have pretty much nothing to do with your progression in leagues.
You are placed based on your MMR. if you happen to have a high MMR from previous seasons then you are almost guaranteed to have a very high win rate since you are always placed on the winning team. If you have a mid ranged MMR then you get the 50/50 matchups people are talking about since sometimes your MMR is bigger than the other people and sometimes not. If you have a low MMR, say if you just started playing last season, were able to get to diamond and started in a high league with a low MMR then your win rate this season is almost certain to be terrible since you are always placed on the losing team.
You keep telling yourself that, maybe one day it will be true.
Which part do you think is untrue? Do you think we aren’t matched based on MMR? That in a match the MMR’s aren’t sorted to a winning and losing team? That we are matched over a wide skill range? All of my statements are taken from the devs, this is just how it works. I dunno if it should work like this or not, but it wasn’t an opinion, I was just telling people how it works.
50% winrate isnt enough for legend lol, 50 games now. Literally only win 1 lose 1. You never gain extra pips to reach legend this way. I wouldnt mind if I didnt face so many 4 player premades as solo q tbh.
I am in diamond and play relatively casual due to work and all. It is possible just takes a lot of games OR/and high MMR. The higher MMR you have the less games you need to get to legend. Oh and btw there are quite few people in legend already.
Thing is, with time the better players will move up the divisions, lower divisions (sapphire/ruby) will be filled with ex-ambers so you can farm your way to diamond eventually even if you are not really good.
Yup, I’ve reached my goal in the two previous seasons thanks to this. First season I wanted to get to ruby, I thought I was going to fail and was stuck in last tier sapphire. Went to a two week vacation, came back and climbed easily.
Next season I wanted to improve so I set Diamond as my goal. This time, I was stuck in the last tier of ruby for a few weeks, even sometimes dropping to the first tier. Again I took a break, which was this time only 3 days. What happened? Well you can guess, I succeeded in my goal. I got to diamond with relative ease.
So are you crybabies seeing a pattern here? It’s EXACTLY as Cynz described. If you can wait for even two days, you’ll notice that most of the same guys who previously kicked your butt will have moved on to the next division….
Well I’m currently at Saphire and am actually being active this season. I got ruby last 2 seasons and barely played any. I tend to win at least 50/50 or 60/40 of the time. And even then a lot of that seems to be related to getting screwed with dc’s or newbies still learning basic pvp mechanics. I’m not saying its never my fault but usually I’m the top player on both teams. Or at least mine. My brother who admits himself his pvp skill is a lot less than mine got his diamond last season and quit. Previous seasons I got to ruby pretty fast considering I barely pvp’ed any. This season it seems like saphire and emerald were pvp hell with a 50/50 win rate and just praying for no dc or bad teammates. Other than taking a break which is what I don’t want to do since I wasn’t near active enough the other seasons, feel kind of screwed. This season is definitely different than previous seasons granted they had issues too, but it seems like they only made it worse, again.
whatever your mmr was before is what it was when you restarted playing. being gone for so long only caps out your volatility, so youre able to find your way to where you belong faster. there is no decay.
This.
It’s appalling to see how many ignorant players are still around regarding the subject.
I guess they’ll never learn (Geralt of Rivia).

Where does all of this misinformation come from? Not saying yours is wrong I have no idea, just if so many others are wrong why are so many saying this? The higher powers need to be more clear and address this stuff so clear up any confusion if so.

It’s called confirmation bias.
Some players can’t wrap their head around the concept that they’re being carried way more by their high MMR (which hasn’t been reset since its introduction, so even if you stopped playing 1 year ago and came back now, you’d be helped by the match maker because of your old MMR) than by their actual skill. Denial of facts is a true power of nature, anyone who believes that winning 70%+ is purely or mostly skill related is a fool (unless you’re, maybe, in the true top 1% of players). :>

TLDR: matchmaker still stacking teams, high MMR leads to a higher winrate no matter what (and it should really be the other way around in a truly competitive environment).

Seems legit to me. Even a pro player would struggle with 4 bad teammates. MMR carry ftw.
