So much changed when nothing did?
absolutely nothing has changed yet. same specs dominate 6 months later, with more d/d eles facerolling everywhere. im hoping the aoe nerf is coming soon because it would make many, many other specs viable.
I don’t think there have been very many new builds popping up—d/d ele is really the only one that’s significantly more feared now than 4 months ago. Grenade engies have always been around, but there have always been so few engies total that no one has ever really noticed them. I see far fewer permastealth attrition thieves now than I did a few months ago.
Still, it’s kind of cool that d/d eles rose to the top without huge buffs.
same with rangers and necromancers, they both thought they were a joke of a class and without any substantial changes people just learned how to play the class and make good builds
Sometimes it takes a bit of time for people to work out good builds. And also for those builds to get popular enough for you to hear about them.
Also sometimes better builds get discovered when previously good builds get nerfed and force people to think a bit more
You’re just seeing more of them than you did.
Bunker Eles have been around for a while now but it’s taken a few month for it to trickle down into your standard WvW
I mean it took 4 weeks into release for someone to post the Thief instant-gib combo in a youtube video but it wasn’t until November that this build and play-style really became wide-spread.
I wasn’t seeing many D/D Bunker Eles in WvW until about December.
Pistol/Dagger Thieves are a build every Thief tries once in a while but then quickly leaves behind because it’s boring as kitten and makes you hate downed-state more than ever.
The only new build I’ve encountered in the past weeks is the Ranger Bunker build with traps and lots of leaps combined with a very high Protection uptime. It too has probably been around for a while but most Rangers seem to prefer damage builds.

I would say there alot more stealth balance fixes that go unnoticed
