So, season finished
You feel no need to keep playing, yet apparently felt the need to come announce it on the forums.

He is giving honest feedback which should be appreciated. What he is stating is actually how I feel. I stopped playing after I got the final reward. I admit, I did finally log in and do a few more recently out of boredom but after getting all the rewards and dealing with a faulty system, the motivation is low to none now.
I dont see the fault in the system, to me it seems like its supposed to be, if youre better than the division youre in, you will stomp and play with your opponents like they are kids and move up.
If you are not toying with your opponents, you are where you belong untill you get better, quitting and insisting its the systems fault certainly wont improve that.

There already a number of threads regarding the disparity in need vs supply of Ascended Shards of Glory.

That is great news, it means players only pvping for rewards will be slowly disappearing from now on. You’ll end up back with mostly pvp players as the season progresses. I think it is the right call to have the main seasonal reward be obtainable so early in the season.

I’m absolutely grateful for it, too. Get the PvE players out of PvP faster so they can’t impact games. It’s obvious that 90% of them have no desire to actually PvP or they wouldn’t leave immediately after getting their 1200 shards, so there’s no reason to encourage them to play a game mode that they don’t actually have any interest in.
Beyond a few salty PZ players I haven’t seen much unsportsmanlike conduct in ranked. Unranked just reeks.

Ha, people are salty in pretty much every game.
I played with this druid that wouldnt shut up about where we should go and what everyone should be doing one round, we lost because the enemy comp was pure meta (3 DH, 1 war and an ele) and we where a random assortment of druids, engies and a necro. Duh, outcome obvious. He probably reported a couple people that round.
Next round I had him in my team again and of course he just wouldnt shut up. We fought, we where already winning overwhelmingly and went to the center channel thingamabob to cap all points… And I stealthed him. To be honest it was a little unintentional but oh god the hilarious fury from him. All caps, all the time. We won the fight, we won the match easy and I got reported for being a kitten, I believe he said.
It was glorious. It really made me wonder just how many reports you can make in sPvP before Anet lifts an eyebrow or three.
I already got my ascended gear so now I only play just to find someone even saltier, that’s my new goal in life.

This season is a bust, just wait for S6 and hope it’ll be better I guess.
I play quite only pvp but i am happy of pve players in pvp . Pvp is dieing . The first Problem of pvp as wvw is to raise up the population. Give to pvers a motivation to try pvp , in my opinion was a great idea. Even if we have bad matches if only a part of pve players fall in love of pvp it is a great thing . And even if they are not that good now, they can become better in feature. Nobody was born pvp champion … let them the time to learn and enjoy the short queue of ranked and the rewards. For now i am stacked in silver … if i will remain there.. ok , it is the place i belong to . Perhaps i will do better next seasons .
Sadly there are some PvP players that played a lot last seasons and /quit this season too, i’m both pvp/pve and i think this system is a step in a right direction but right now it just have a terrible matchmaking with a non-sense reward (matchmaking seems worse than last seasons), playing you’ll always lose more points than winning and this make you go back even with 50% win ratio, keeping a positive rate of wins mostly is simple not enough to go up.
Win 70% or more of your games with a random matchmaking and still living out of NA or EU (more latency) to go up is just too much, win streaks don’t help too, it’s possible but not even near fun, so if you compare this sPvP with any competitive game Anet still have a lot of work to do, sadly Anet will never have popularity or money to bring servers to more locations like some big company’s in this competitive area, so even i who like PvP agree that the only thing that worths for most ppls are the shards. Just like me who got them and /quit. At least this season is not so bad as the last one.
Balance is getting better, still terrible, but a bit better.
Naraku no Kitsune, Necromancer
Fort Aspenwood (GODS)
As I finally got all the shards I needed, I see completely no point to keep on playing ranked.
If you enjoyed this experience then keep playing pvp (and welcome aboard), otherwise I suggest you to farm FOTM for ascended armor, it’s faster than wait the next pvp season’s reward. And spent your currency only after you get the 6th piece of armor (luckily the expensive one).

People have been saying PvP is dying since the beginning, the point being hyperbole only works when the side you are trying to convince doesn’t have access to data to verify their decisions. Your lie might convince the few salty players but the goal is to convince arena net. Who unfortunately has the data to see whether you are lying or not.

Where do you think i am saying a lie ? i write in clear words that i am not a champion and probably i am where i have to be. No complain from me .
What i have seen in season 4 , in my personal experience, was longer queues before matches so i hope , giving pve players a reason to play pvp will help having more players. Nothing more than this. It is a hope … not a statement
i add also that there are no more streamers on this game. .. or far less than before. It is not a truth but it is a sign . Probably it is something unavoidable for a game who is 5 years old . Playerbase moves from one game to others

Or the PvP-team ruining the game more and more as the years go by. This season was even worse than the previous 4.
I think a lot of players don’t have fun in this game’s pvp some still stay some leave. The damage avoidance and mobility + troll builds are huge and not fun to play against. You play/trying to work hard pressing keys with no results and your skills are avoided most of the time by stupid damage avoiding mechanic.

I find it better becouse having rewards make me happy to play even if i am stacked in a level . I think it is exactly what Anet wanted to accomplish : if you play and your level is bronze you going on playing for rewards even if your ratio is abot 50% and stay there
You feel no need to keep playing, yet apparently felt the need to come announce it on the forums.
I announce many things in many places and I am glad you take your time to read them and comment them. You want it or not I have changed your life forever, as from this moment on you have the full awareness of my thoughts. It even might appear subconsciously in your dream. Now imagine that!
I dont see the fault in the system, to me it seems like its supposed to be, if youre better than the division youre in, you will stomp and play with your opponents like they are kids and move up.
I raised my rating, maybe I would raise it even higher but I see no point in it.

Your enthusiasm is premature. Look at how many people plays pvp. Now think about what will happen if people will massively stop playing ranked pvp matches. You either will be stack in queue for much longer than you are now and disparity between players’ skill level will be much higher than it is.
Also assuming everyone who plays pvp is a super pvper is wrong and illogical. Another thing is there are many people who are good at pvp and don’t care about ranked at all.

Same as above. And I am not a pve player, actually I don’t play pve at all, I play unranked mostly and wvw. I actually needed the gear for wvw, as playing wvw you have no possibility to obtain that kind of equipment.

As I wrote I didn’t enjoy it at all Fractals are kind of meh and when I read they put all the focus into fractals right now I was very disappointed.
It is really pity anet doesn’t care about wvw at all. They could improve a lot in there, right now amount of people playing wvw is shirnking really fast.

I think you are right. When the game came out in August 2012 I started playing around October/December. In my opinion the changes they started to introduce negatively affected pvp. I remember few years ago when there were few op builds, but basically every profession was as viable as the others. Now it is all about stacking guardians and warriors. spvp is totally out of balance at the moment. I think teamfights were more dynamic, and now they are kind of dull. Perma stability, perma immortality… how comes you get auto invulnerability from traits? You don’t even have to use the skill/push the buttons.
Then I had a break from gw, came back to check hot and I would say anet goes in wrong direction, but for 20 bucks I don’t have much regrets for buying it.
Anyways, remember that all I wrote in here is my personal opinion and you have all the right not to share the same views I do. I think this often causes misunderstanding and frustration on one of the sides.
Enjoy your holiday season.
What didn’t you like about the pvp season? What was horrible? The matchmaking? The conduct of players?
What didn’t you like about the pvp season? What was horrible? The matchmaking? The conduct of players?
For me it was.
A.) I found a more competitive PvP game that rewarded me for playing better instead of get lucky with the team mates it gave me.
B.) I am expected to carry 1 or 2 other team mates who could care less for winning because of PvE rewards or reward track progression.
C.) The match making is still better but then we’ll have to go back up to reason A.)
D.) The current class balance is very bad. I also feel ANet doesn’t care enoth to make PvP in GW2 competitive with way way more frequent balance patches. This goes side by side with answer A.)
E.) There is no punishment for players trolling others in Ranked League in GW2. Again this goes up to answers A.) and B.)
F.) It’s too easy for players to get into Rank without even having a basic understanding on how to pvp. Once again this goes with answer A.)
F.) There is still very little prestige with Season 5 more then the other seasons but still not nearly enoth to be consider a competition. Unless the whole competition is to see who can get better team mates, or who can get the least PvE shiny seeking players.
I honestly don’t think these are unreasonable gripes about this season at all. Sadly the only response I’ll get out of people is “Get Gud” or “Carry Harder” or “You deserve to be there..”. So as a effect I’ve moved on to a “Dedicated PvP game” that don’t have all of these problems. I only return to GW2’s PvP every so now and then, to do like %80 of the players are doing in my division, just spamming matches for shinnies, all the while giving no effort or care if they win or lose, as winning to them is just a bonus.
But at least I admit it!
PoF guys get ready for PvE joys
I agree with you reaper about your gripes. I was just curious what this person found so horrible.

Why are you wasting abilities?
dunno i kinda like +5 tm charges per 3 games and 20 gold is just nice bonus to that, dont over do it in pvp,if you gona play 3 games every day just for fun,its ok.
Not everyone needs to be in legendary to enjoy the game.
