This season started nicely, with a reasonable win streak. The best thing i noticed, is i was being paired with reasonable people. We could win or lose, but my teammates were ok.

But today something went horribly wrong. Now i am on a losing streak, and my teammates seem to be getting worse by the hour. We have lost games against teams with people that barely knew how to play their profession. The last match was the worst, with our team winning every teamfight but our thief commiting suicide again and again, and nobody keeping close-

I guess the game now thinks i am bad and pairs me with bad players. The thing is, i cannot win playing with these guys, except by chance. I can carry some games if my team is half decent, but i am not good enough to carry a team of horrible players to victory.

Am i condemned now to rot in hell? should i pick another profession, in the hopes i start with average mmr and don’t screw up next time? should i uninstall?

i guess i could also try to form a team, but i play at rather erratic times, so it’s difficult to get anything stable going….

You basically reached what is called “ELO hell” in other games. MMR gets lower when you loose and your team mates depend on your MMR. Last season matchmaking was superior because the game always tried to get good matchups for your, even if it meant 50/50 winrate.
I predict a lot of people will give up on this season quickly after they experienced their loss streaks and only the hardcore pvp players will stay lol

I’m in the same boat. start of season 2 I was about 55% win to 45% lose, now that has blown out to 78% lose 22% win and this is over 600 games so one or two wins or loses won’t change the stats much now. i think I’m doomed.

You are not alone. Same thing happening to me the mintue I climbed to sapphire. After 5-6 losing streaks, matchmaking already thinking you are bad and puts you into same team with low mmr, below avarage players. And this makes almost impossible to get rid of that ladder.

Once you are bad, now rot in that division with clueless noobs. What a nice logic.

Matchmaking is clearly having big issues at the moment, lots of people complaining the same. Not only casual players but veterans aswell.

1. don’t queue at night/early morning
2. play class that can hold point for long time vs multiple players (or if you are really good, roamer) this way you can make up for your teammates being potentially bad

i had quite few games this season that we were losing by far and then came back at the end by changing our strategy
example: our team kept wiping in team fights, i asked my team to split enemy across the map and we murdered them 1 by 1

I am having the same exact prob seas 2 – living in the same bottom feeder hell. Started the season, w. my friend (solo qed tho, didn’t pair up cuz we play diff times). I actually had a slightly higher mmr than he does – dragon rank, made it to ruby – about 50% ratio or a little higher. Ive been pvping in gw for 12 yrs, and gw2 since beta. Do it every day. Play meta dh, meta rev, meta reaper.

last seas I was 2 pips from diamond, but didn’t make it cuz of all the afker’s and match throwers – u know – throw a skill every one min, or stand outside the cap zone. Everyone told me, hang in there – it’ll be better seas. 2

Started in same place as my friend. Got paired w/ ppl who thought they should throw games some more (they didn’t think to read patch notes) – I told them mmr had been fixed and they told me to kitten off. Kept playing, won a few, then lost 4 in a row due to various situations (teams on ts, rerolls, bad compositions, 1 dc, etc. Kept hanging in there, but lost 3 more – bad team composition in 2, and 1 w/ 2 complete noobs who kept fighting ppl in mid of map and doing nothing else but dying. Got paired lower and lower.

I am now in a 72, yes 72! game loss streak. I am in some Twilight Zone hell where the players r noobs, newbies, clueless, afk, dcing, or just stupid re: strategy. I don’t feel Im ever getting out of this. Ive been stuck in tier 1 of emerald for 2 days solid. Meanwhile, my friend, whom I TAUGHT how to play pvp, is sailing thru sapphire, caught on a lucky streak of supportive players. And no, HE IS NOT A BETTER PLAYER, and no, I do not suck (I can hear the self righteous noobs right now who are in sapphire or above, whose butts I know I have slammed in gw2 pvp MANY A TIME before, thinking just that).

I feel like many. I have been playing gw for 12 yrs, all of it primarily pvp. I am a seasoned veteran player. I am not enjoying the game for the first time ever, and am actually being told, all I need to do is either practice in pve (the troll response) or buddy up w/ a team to “carry me” (I exclusively solo q and don’t like team pvp, tho I can do it), take a break of several weeks until the “good players” get their legendaries and stop playing (and I get to continue getting matched up w/ garbage teams), or quit. The latter sounds most appealing, tho I love gw and don’t want to. I am soldiering on at the moment, but it is very demoralizing. Especially all the talk about all the “skilled players” having reached their appropriate placements and all of us “less skilled players” sinking to our bottom feeder placement. So sad. So demoralizing. It would actually be less demoralizing if I did suck, cuz I am ever the realist, and don’t mind at all being sucky at stuff, or new to stuff. I would practice then and beat it. But this seems like it has NO FIX!

Try oposite effect. S1 I was running stronghold to get legendary, now stronghold gives me only huge loose strikes.
In conquest my solo team mates can’t hold close, so we winning thanks far cap.
And my biggest “lol” was foefire, when we cap 1 point and rush lord(20/40score loosing) we kill lord and, demotivating opponent team?! They have better class setup against us but they surender sigh… so funny moments at pvp now

72 consecutive loses WTF!!!

well, i cannot claim my hell is nearly as terrible as yours. But man, you should have done something way before reaching this awful number!Team up, really! if you play pvp that much, you surely will find a regular team, so you won’t have to worry about mmr. You only need 1 other guy to get you through emerald and possibly can also reach ruby with just a good teammate.

What a stupid logic. The game runs worldwide (with some exceptions), there will always be night for someone. Plus some people can only play at night or early morning.

Cynz is right, NA primetime has significantly higher skill levels than off primetime. I assume that’s because college kids and what not are playing all evening, and at like 5am it’s a 50 year old single dad trying to get in his dailies before he has to go to work.

Also a bigger player pool means the game finds what it wants instead of giving up and pairing you with a complete idiot.

The typical response from a lucky scrub who is getting carried through the league now. Sorry, mate but are you daft or something? Most people who complain, about the terrible matchmaking are not just now starting players. Were it that the case I would agree with you. But many people who have been playing and doing decent in pvp till now are hitting brick walls in the moment in this pile of kitten, which is the current matchmaking. You would not be carried forever and you will hit the same wall soon enough. We will talk again. For now… Tell me oh wise one, what kind of skills I need to carry 4 people in my team, who have absolutely no idea what they are supposed to do against players with better overall comp, better map awareness and.. well, overall good grasp of how pvp function against MY usual team with people who double cap points and die on beast. I am listening, please. Go ahead. I can’t do much more then to laugh my kitten off, when I read such comments. When people will finally realise even the best player out there, cannot carry an entire game on his shoulders, if the rest of his team is just -bad-, let alone more casual, yet decent players.

The flow of players in the first 3 divisions is too big now, thus there can be people that simply grinded it through or got “lucky”. If I’d be wise I’d not try hard at all the first days xD The more days past since the first day of this league, the more competent players will be in higher divisions (yeah, all those assumably kittened teammates of yours). That’s also where the 50/50 and meta would start working, the mechanism doesn’t have the layers yet.

I am dealing with the same issue. I had an unbelievable win streak to start, I think I got about 3/4 thru emerald by the time I lost my first match. Recently, I’m like 2-8 in my last 10 games. As I think about this, though, I’ve played so many ranked matches that my MMR shouldn’t be changing all that much based on losing a handful of games.

Personally, I think the issue is this:

Most of the weaker players, and even average players, have probably rage quit due to the matchmaking these past few days. This leaves only the top 20% or so of PvPers (granted, with some exceptions), so now, it has become exponentially more difficult for the average player to progress. This difficulty is also amplified the higher your division.

Perhaps this could change in a couple of weeks, but for now, I will probably go the same route as many others and just stop queuing ranked for now.

I think most peoples’ issue with the matchmaking is the following: the matches are way too easy for the first 5,10, maybe 15 matches. Then, you hit a wall, and all of a sudden you can’t seem to win a game to save your life.

If the goal of leagues this season is to give players a sense of progression, while also keeping the game fair and fun, Anet has failed in at least 2/3 of these goals.

As much as it pains me to say it, I think last season’s model worked better. At least the matches were competitive.

tl;dr —-——→ If you start losing a lot of games, stop queuing ranked. At least until more players of “average” skill level reach the division you are in.
