Lets say your on graveyard control point the other team has 4 mesmers(its usually 5-6 mesmers but for arguments sake I went low), so now instead of defending against 4 enemies you effectively are defending against 12???? And 8 of them dont ever die they just seem to go away and then magically reappear again seconds later. Then on the off chance in the madness of the clone horde you find the actual mesmer you got him/her goin down but wait whats this its not the real one anymore the real one has replaced himself with a fake and once again disappeared into the madness of clones to heal up.
Please dont post to this and say “you need to learn to play and find the real one” because thats ignorant and a waste of breath. If you can stand there in the middle of a revolutionary war battle off not real chars and find the one that moves differently then you are obviously so leet you needn’t trouble yourself with speaking to us lesser folk.
Bottom line its not enjoyable anymore with everyone catching onto the broken mesmer build.
Every class has that glass cannon uber build sure but all are counterable and interruptable to some degree at the very least defensible, this is not true for the mesmer spam build period not a darn thing you can do.
I dont think mesmers are op i think the are broken and unbalanced at least in spvp.

Well, if your enemies has 4 mesmers on one station then you got plenty of other players to take the other two bases. They only got one doing something else then, so not a smart setup in any tournament team. I must say I never seen the setup. What I usually see: first map is a guardian, two warriors and two thiefs. Second map is two guardians, a thief and a warrior and a random. Last map is two guardians, a thief, a warrior and a mesmer (sometimes a ranger instead of anyone except the mesmer). That’s overall the most common setups in tournament play.

Casual is random players mixed together, and not consider competitive play. If it happens there and not in tournament setup it’s just not a viable build. If a class is overpopulated in enemy team you can always just join another game without punishment for leaving. Casual teams can always consist of many of one profession, not only mesmers. Good thing is that you always have a choice to deal with it, or leave for another game. Premades are pretty much impossible to do in casual play, and option to leave is also very easy with plenty of other games going on in the browser. I wouldnt worry too much.

I understand you can feel sad. However, since casual play isnt premade teams will be random and sometimes there will be many of one profession. To prevent that they need to fix casual play so that there are just a certain number of certain profession that are allowed in to a game. That pretty much destroy the thing with “hot join”, that you easy can join and leave a game and just play for a little while. What they do have with this “hot join” is that you can easy leave a game and join another without being punished, and I would take advantage of that if I didnt like the enemy team for some reason. Time wasted on something that just annoys you simply is time wasted.

picking out the right Mesmer is not really that difficult the problem is he is in stealth for half the time and then its only clones there attacking you.
when downed its way harder to find the right Mesmer.
but their disadvantage is light armor the illusions make up for that.

well let’s say; i hope 8v8 will help in balancing. but i know that 8v8 is not pvp they will use to balance professions.

actually that doesnt mean OP, it just means the class can be specced and played tooe asily vs its reward.

you may say “well how is that not OP”

cuz in high level skilled play, that advantage those classes have dissolve faster then sugar in water.

this simply means if anything needs to be changed its the calsses complexity, not a direct nerf.

If there’s 4 Mesmers on one point, they’re doing something wrong, and you will win.

SPvP is not about who’s got the best ganking build. It’s about capturing points and pretty much avoid any combat that does not affect capture-points.

the surest sign of a broken/op/unbalanced class? getting 1shotted by any class while stunned in 1v1 situation. shouldnt happen EVEN with glass cannon spec (because come on, everyone has heals, dodges and kitten so you really arent that glass)

I have never seen 6 Elementalists or 6 Necros. I did just leave a match with 5 Thieves on my team if that helps. ;p

After 15 years of PVP MMO gaming, everytime a clear class imbalance is brought to the forums the only arguement in defense of it is L2P!

I’ve even rolled that class and shown video’s of me killing 3-4 other players at the same time under the thread tag “PLEASE NERF MY CLASS” and heard l2p.

Funny I’ve been ranked in the top 10 of every MMO game that had a PVP ranking system won Tournement’s for cash and still hear L2P when giving valid and logically concise arguements for why that ability or abilities should not exist.

1. there is only one build which is played by most of the players
2. u play a profession which is not threatened by a 1vs1 situation.
3. u succeed in roles which are not supported by your build.
4. u have one skill which is a must have in any build.

Although I agree that Mesmer is very strong now, these points are terrible.

1. This is actually a sign of underpowered rather than overpowered. If a class is bad in everything but one build, the other builds need buffed.

2. Certain classes are better at certain things. I don’t understand how this is a serious point. A class (or build) being good in 1v1 doesn’t mean they’re OP.

3. You can’t exceed in roles not supported by your build. That’s just how this game is. You can’t build pure DPS and expect to tank, whereas you can’t build pure survivability and expect to deal massive burst DPS. No class can. Mesmers are only good in survivability because of their massive amount of utility and CC.

4. For this one, revert to my answer to #1. This doesn’t make a class OP. This just makes the other skills UP.

5. This one needs explained further, tbh. Not sure where you’re really pointing at with this one.

as thief i can play using knight amulet instead of berseker and i gain armor and vit, but , as roamer, i lose 100% against decent mesmers because assiming we do same damage he has more hp and armor, assuming we have same hp and armor he soak better the damage and fight is always 2-3 vs me because of phantasm.

Yes, and that’s totally fair. You’re playing a roamer role. Your primary function is to move quickly around the map, neutralize and capture unguarded points, and assist teammates in fights.

Nothing wrong with that.

but when u face a tanky team you need to make them split and so you need to roam at their point. i can’t roam at their point if there is a mesmer because i lose the 1v1.
at trabuchet there are always mesmers because of the “mechanical issues about the class”, i can’t go there and die, helping only opponent team.
so what is the plan?maybe i can stop playing thief , but honestly i would prefer in some new thief build, right now i can’t find, or some fix to that mesmer’s superiority(?).
i know a lot of mesmers will flame me, but who cares, i look for mature suggestios, others are all reports :P
