I am a bit devastated right now.

My win ratio has been always around 60%. This has drastically changed once i reached emerald.

My last record is 5-20. All the time i get matched against dragons and their mothers, solo vs premade, ok, i can take a hit here and there, but this is getting ridiculous.

Yesterday i decided to team up. Most in my team where sapphire. I thought: good, they will know what they are doing.

But the competition knew better: the new meta has clicked really fast, and even though we were consistently downing players, they were being flash revived and we ended up dying when they got a lucky proc.

I got sick of it and went to power necro with well of suffering so i could at least damage downed players and it worked, we won the next match against the new op meta.

But still, 1-5 in a team with people that are suposedly above my skill level and were playing rather poorly, that’s so bad (how did they even reach sapphire?).

I see that everybody and their mother complains about losing streaks, but somebody else is winning against them, so, my question is: who is the happy camper? who is always on the winning team?

and

can i be your friend?

End of rant.

My win ratio is around 60% solo que right now in ranked. Sometimes you have to carry your whole team lol. And type what to do etc. So many times ive been 1 pip from a tier and get a bunch of bads and have to restart a tier. It sucks. But it is what it is.

with a winning ratio of 50%, you need around 62 games to advance a tier. (EDIT: no. 62 games is what’s needed to get 5 consecutive wins, you can still advance a tier but not with my current winning ratio)

with my current winning ratio? i’d rather stop caring.

I think this is a matter of picking the wrong role and possibly your mmr being inflated pre-leagues.

Imo, the best type of class to solo q with in this meta is a bunker/support type. I wont go into reasons why.

Also, with 60% winrate pre-leagues, if you were really capable of it, you would have maintained it. I had a 61% winrate pre-leagues, and when leagues started I had about 64%. I solo queued mostly to ruby and my winrate is currently at 60.8%. Not to boast or anything but just giving an example. Your winrate will always converge at your skill level eventually, given enough time.

It’s really random. Im winning one, losing one, etc and I’m certain I’m doing more than enough to contribute, even rerolled to cele tempest aurashare for those mid fights. Maybe it is also bit affected by the times I play, I usually run hours after work, maybe theres a certain % of meeting/being grouped with X. Theres 3 guildies, one solo and two duo, who skyrocket to div 3 and 4 with several wins in a row.

Adding on to this, remember when to take a break. If you feel like you are on tilt (IE on a losing streak and not feeling very happy/amused/good), you should stop. Take shower, eat, read a book for a while, even play a different game. Don’t try and push “just one more win” in a bad mindset- you’re going to end up worse off than you were before.

Except us with busy lives u want to maximize the potential of time that you have, some cant or dont have the energy to take a break and come back, some dont like doing other stuff, just want to play. Often the game is the break from something, but then the game and system is broken. Sounds more like one needs to find a more permanent solution.

Taking a short break and doing something else (like watching an episode of your favourite tv series) and coming back to win is better than tilting and losing 5 games in a row. My personal habit is to stop after 2 consecutive losses. Hasnt failed me so far.

This is good advice. What Reaper said earlier is true too. I’m not a huge fan of how the leagues can be abused, but some people are coming in with inflated MMRs and that is normalizing.

Though in my case, I don’t see the point in going on with leagues. I’ll play unranked, but with a straight 50% win chance leagues is nothing but a grind fest to wait until I get enough favorable match-ups in a row. It’s rather demoralizing. Especially when I feel I’ve done everything I could do, including communicate, with my teammates to still have us lose by only a few points and then lose a pip.

To the OP the winners are people who have a stable group to team with. The problem isn’t teams, anyone can team up. It is having people who communicate and know each others builds. That is a different level than just randomly making a team because people say it is good and that is something that not everyone has the time to do.

Conquest is a five party sport. Even if you are an exceptional player, luck has to be on your side to offer you the team configs on both side to allow you the opportunity to carry your team. There’s only one of you, even if the opposing team has less skilled players if they run a better team strategy or run any team strategy and your team runs none they have a huge advantage.

How many solo queue non-premade teams have you been on where any strategy was discussed? In most of the ones I have been in only 1-2 even say where they are headed at start of match and no one uses mini-map ping. So even the basic tools given to us to coordinate are ignored on top of those two Warriors and Ranger in you team running outdated builds

Want to start winning consistently?

  • Have a team of skilled payers willing to coordinate as a premade (if you don’t coordinate strategy and communicate with each other, you aren’t really utilizing the premade advantage)
  • Make sure everyone on your team accepts the OP advantage given by the current meta and no one is trying to hold on to some really outdated PvP build (a general guideline would be to consider builds listed under “good” and “meta” on metabattle.com)
  • Practice with the team in unranked. Win at least three matches in a row in unranked with the team. While there is separate MMR for unranked and ranked, this will at least give you an idea of how well the new team configuration is going to work for everyone. Your from JaxxTheRipper may have been great on his old Warrior build but, but needs more practice on the Codi Mallyx Herald he’s trying for.

Once everyone is comfortable go for it. If you’re old PvP friends are still holding on to outdated classes and builds for PvP make new friends who have accepted what’s going on who also want to win.

Quite a lot of them actually. I start every match by greeting my team.. Sometimes I go ignored but at least 80% of the time we end up chatting about some sort of strat.

There are some really amazing players out there with great attitudes also… Just last night I was in a game, we wiped at mid, we had players pushing far when they shouldn’t have.. After the wipe my team was just all over the place, and I got super frustrated and stood still for like 20-30s contemplating just giving up… But I said to myself kitten it I’m just going to try anyways… Right about then a team-member started encouraging in chat saying things like “we can still win this” “good job guys, we got this” etc and also organizing us by calling out enemies and saying things like “watch for the decap guys”, “watch for lord rush guys”… Well we turned a 150+ point deficit in a helpless feeling game into a 20 point win.

I have no idea how match making is working but I am guessing that high tier players such as diamond or ruby will be rarely paired vs players in amber and emerald. When you teamed with sapphire players you basically gave yourself a large mmr boost and ended up playing much better players than you would have.

I wouldn’t say I am one of those player who is winning a lot but my win ratio has gotten better with the league. I entered emerald with 10-1 then when on 3-15 and finished with a string of matches at 70% win rate. First tier of sapphire went by in a flash because I got 2 wins that gave me 2 ticks . Tier 2 is at a dead stop at my 50% win rate at the moment. So I guess you can expect a bit of everything in the league judging from my experience.

I’d like to talk about this last point, because it’s almost never discussed on the forums, where the loudest users seem to be solo queuing only. Yes, forming a team with an average MMR is not going to make you roll over the competition like everyone is saying. At least in EU, when I queue with a full premade, I almost always face other full premades. And if your team is newly formed, even if you are all good individually, you are going to lose A LOT in the beginning.

It happened to me when I started playing with a bunch of real life friends. The first step is to find a comp that works (not always easy since not everybody is capable of playing multiple professions). Then, you need to practice with them on who rotates who, and what each of you is supposed to do in team fights. What typically happens is that you go on a losing streak in the beginning, and then win every game till you go back to your real MMR.

Taking a break when things go bad is a good idea, only i don’t have much time to play, and taking a break means not playing at all. But i sometimes will, it’s better than starting to violently hit the keyboard when you cannot down a guy before a flash revive.

also, i notice my win ratio has fallen once i started playing mid, and i used to do a lot better when i moved around capping points and not minding the team too much. I know it sounds awful, but when your team doesn’t coordinate, sometimes you just have to accept it and try to win in some other way (in one of the last matches i won, i soloed the lord when we were losing by 200 points: i ended up with 2 guys trying to stop me and my team managed to cap the 3 points while i ended the lord).

People stuck in the lower tiers are stuck down there for a reason and when you the better player get stuck with them due to RNG you have to A. Either carry them or B. Get lucky the enemy team is worst. Or C. Take a loss.

Its sad. That if you are really good and carry the bads a lot your MMR skyrockets and you end up fighting better players than the bads you will end up with on your team again the next round.
