Guild Wars 2

I have been away from GW2 for a considerable period of time and see a lot of new names that I don’t remember here in the PvP forums. I really want to want to come back to the PvP in this game, but I am hesitant to bite back into the stale bread that made me want to leave. Tell me what has changed in the last 6-12 months and why I should want to come back. At a cursory glance it appears that AI clutter garbage builds and Hambows are still prevalent in the current meta, which makes me sad, but am I missing something?

Has the tourney meta evolved away from bunker & boon spam, or is it just different flavors of the same thing with the patches I’ve missed?

Is there at least some diversity in remotely serious team comps, or is everyone running the identical comps within 1-2 class choices?

I miss the players, and I want to miss the game, but I am struggling to find it.

Hey, I’m new to PvP, only close to 400 played games so far. The current matchmaking has been giving me great matches. Except from the occasional blowouts (500-0, never forget!), I’ve met many great returning players. Some of them were within top 50 of the old leaderboard. They have low MMR but they are so skilled that I could learn a thing or two by fighting them. Builds wise, I’m using the so called meta celestial d/d ele and engi right now. I’ve learned that without experience and a good rotation, I cannot make use of these builds and get trained/focused hard. Play style is far more important, in my opinion. My friends prefer to play glassy condi engi and they can utterly annihilate everything.
