wait they removing Soldier ?
WTF anet ? freaken start fixing the kitten classes instead of removing Balanced amulets.
I don’t care really either way I always saw soldier’s as a meh amulet personally. But with some classes having traits that give free crit chance and things like that I could see it potentially as a bad thing to have maximum power and like 50%-70% crit chance without having any precision stat (over very little) and also having high toughness and vitality. I think they want to make it so your long term sustain is proportionate to the damage you do. We are trying to get away from do it alls. Because if you can have pretty good damage and pretty good sustain why would you play anything else then those kinds of builds?

The old adage goes that if you put enough monkeys in front of type writers eventually one of them will write a work of Shakespeare. Sadly, Anet is following a similar course for MMO class balance design, only they don’t have nearly a large enough sample size, and appearantly no oversight to distinguish between the “good” and the “bad”. I’d rather pay a monthly subscription and get a game that is good, than get this free to play garbage. Devs, you guys aren’t taking very good care of your assets… your playerbase. Please do something to correct this before it’s too late.
To be more clear. Yes this current bunker meta isn’t very good. Yes the dev team needs to make some corrections to bring it into balance. The problem is that instead of getting shaves and corrections we’re getting wholesale hacks and knee jerk reactions. And if the past is any indication they will release their huge balance patch with limited or no testing (at least not by the playerbase). And then we’ll be stuck with a new but equally broken meta for the next 4 months. It won’t be a bunker meta, but it will be no less broken. A broken meta is one where a few classes/builds dominate and win all matchups, making many classes completely unviable.
The solution is more visibility into proposed changes, not just in terms of documentation, but also a Test Server. And a small correction patch (or two) a few weeks after the huge patch, and before the next season starts.

You sir/madam are asking for far too much. One cannot expect in this day and age, 1993, to have a test server to test proposed changes. Maybe some time in the future, perhaps around the year y2k will there be enough technology to allow for such a request.
I’m also mourning the loss of this amulet. I realize that Ranger/Druid could be a little strong with this set-up, but it still feels like it should be a viable alternative. Bah, wtv. I hope they change their minds.

Kinda this, but it doesn’t make any sense at all for christs sake!
What will come next? Ele and mesmer bunkers with clerics. Purely unkillable, try it, it’s impossible.
Season 3 they’ll remove than anything with healing power/vita/toughness I guess?
Eitherway, removing Soldiers was just… plain… stupid. Thanks anet! Something I liked and it’s gone (as also the Pirate rune… I miss that little birdy).
Ofc on some builds it wasn’t viable at all. But even if so, on some it is. Especially on team comps where it’s too hard to sustain as marauder partially and you go on with a “hey I’m a glass cannon look”… "but actually I’m full Power (still spiky) with T/V.
But… streamlining for the win.
So mark my words: If not already in Season 3, finally in Season 4 you can choose between a Power/Condition with no third stat Amulet and an Condition/Power Amulet.
So nothing is too tanky, nor too bursty (as anet doesn’t like zerker either very much)
But seriously… I’m at a loss for words. This is one of the worst changes ever.
Soldiers had absolutely zero need to be removed. Bad move on a-net making a 180 and going from a tanky meta to a glass meta by removing anything that may make someone live somewhat longer.
It’s being replaced by Mercenary Amulet. I think the change is for the better.
