Solo-q and the 'fixes'?
I know what you mean. We understand a lot of our higher skilled players are being burned out by playing with people that haven’t learned the game yet.
Once the news comes out on Monday, I’ll be able to explain one of the additional ways matchmaking will be able to help you guys play together.

It isnt that I have a problem with new players, im actually very happy with them so we can have more competitive teams on the long term.
The leaver thing is what annoys me more, becuase u practically have no chance.

Yeah, we’re working on that as well. We’ve got plans to prevent it from happening before a match starts, and what to do if it happens in the middle of a match. This will probably be covered in the matchmaking blog and discussion unless we feel it merits its own discussion.

I’ve played LoL since it came out and saw it go through many of the same problems we are now. I hope you guys are paying close attention to they way they’ve dealt with those problems and hopefully implementing similar fixes.
For example, there was always a huge problem with AFKs in queue because there was no check after the queue popped. So what they added was a neat little popup that says “your game is ready. Accept? Y/n” AFKs are kicked from the queue if they don’t respond within 30 seconds.
It’s a very simple fix that immediately got rid of 99% of AFKs in champ select

The fix lead to a boring matchup with same ppl over and over. where do i get credits for beta testing it?
UNDO the “FIX” and keep the old system with afkers it is more fun. there i could even win with classes i do not know well. but now i need to focus on my best class or the meta class… like each game where 3 or more warriors are in the matchup…

Elo hell, here i come.
I’ve played roughly 20 games today, not a single kitten one has been close, every single match has been a blow-out where 1 team dominate the other.
Higher ranked players are matched together versus lower ranked ones.
Tell me again how this has "fixed" anything.

PLEASE ANET ADD MORE WAITING TIME! Its so much fun already – wait 5 mins for pop wait 2 mins for start – play approximately the same amount of time.

Okay this is kittening bullkitten. Before the reset I’ve never experience such terrible matches. Now all I get is low ranking matched with me and somehow Anet expect me to carry them? There’s no carry is this kittening game, this ain’t a moba. Just fix your kittenty system

They hardly pay any attention cause ready check in LoL was implemented in august 2012 even before gw2 went live.

Even WoW had a functional ready-check system in it’s 5man Dungeon Finder….back in 2009.
You joined the queue, the system assembled a group, when it was ready everyone had ~30 seconds to accept the ready-check. If someone didn’t accept, the system dropped that person from queue and kept trying to assemble a group. The dungeon/instance would ONLY start if all 5 people indicated they were ready to go. All this happened automatically, it worked great!
We’re all human, we can have things that cause us to go AFK after joining a queue (or forget we queued). It happens. So it was crucial to have a system that could deal with that elegantly. People were only penalized if they went AFK/quit during the dungeon run, an un-removable stacking debuff (condition) which prevented them from queuing again for ~1-2 hours or more.
So why the heck didn’t Solo Queue implement something as like that, such an old idea? It’s good to borrow simple ideas from other MMO’s if they make a positive difference.

LOl this is BS. It was ok before though right? I had to deal with this bull bleep for 6 months. I have been doing just fine since matchmaking changes and then the reset. All these people crying now they are the new bad people aka the people not getting carried by the awful matchmaking you let go for 6 months. Im all for further fixes but I got the world’s smallest violin for people like the op. The matchmaking is way better now. I might get one underank 10 person on my team every 10 matches. That was like every other match in the old system.

They seem to want to try and do things their way, even when there’s a nice ripe low-hanging fruit to be picked that would fit the game perfectly.

Adding that at the moment im in the elo hell, how am i supossed to get back on track with these newcomers in my team? I also played today some matches, most of them were with 4v5 again.
It is quite frustrating that I have barely time to play, and when you log in you can’t get a reasonable match.
Games are meant to enjoy.

At least the living story is super rad and the pve flows like a waterfall in this game. They even added pve events in wvw!
Also all competive games out right now show you kills/deaths at the end of the round. This was the first warning sign in beta that this game was casual. You can’t argue vs it unless you’re casual.

Last game i scored 360 points, 2nd scored 80… Other guys had like 40-60 points..
It’s sometimes fun to carry a team like this, but shouldnt be the case every match, which it is right now.

The problem is that there are many people that don’t know how to play on a capture map. In addition to some form of " build wars " and leaderboard reset, it just shows that it will be quite entirely luck based for the first 2-3 weeks, until it stabilizes.
Right now, i just had a match on skyhammer with thieves and eles against warriors guardian and mesmers. Although i kept telling what to do, my team just suicided on the middle of map, never went on canon, and rarely attacked a shrine other than B. There’s nothing you can do in such situations..
So give us the blogpost, please!

Somehow, this is sad.
First, (some) players were waiting for gw2 finally to get released, as they were hoping / expecting great pvp.
Afte the release, players were waiting for a big pvp update, which basicly never came.
Now, we are waiting for a kittening BLOG POST wich might tell us that something might happen.

^^ Sadly I feel much of the same. Solo q has been hell since the patch. Constantly getting 4v5s and really bad players.
^^ Ditto. Too many people people playing to get coin and glory for Wintersday gifts; not enough games with actual people trying to play. Still 4v5 problems on a fairly routine basis (compared to prior to patch).
Who do I have to beg to make rank a factor in the match making? I know rank is not a true test of any skill, but at least rank shows amount of time played and I won’t keep getting stuck with at least one sub 10 on my solo q team who does not know what they are doing but they play solo q because it gets more coin than hot joins.

Story 1) You really tried to be nice and helpful by explaining to the new comers the basics of the maps. If you get a newbie in your team, the standard way to handle it is to ask him/her to stay at the home node, don’t die and call incoming; but since such players don’t even know how the cap circle works they keep getting trolled and they wander away, leaving the node to be stolen for most of the game. Then even worse, they feel embarrassed and log out.
Story 2) You find your 4 teammates being trolled around the orb in Spirit Watch without owning one single node. Then after the match you look at the ranks and you realize you are in a team of rank 1-20s playing against a team of 30-50s.
Story 3) Your teammate with a rabbit finisher and combat healer title tries to take down an enemy on the Skyhammer cannon but keeps getting knocked off ledge. So you go to help him even though you know you are in great disadvantage since the portal is bugged. You tell your rabbit teammate that he/she should practice at the normal queue to get a better idea of what this map is about. Then your rabbit teammate says you are an kitten for not typing (2 paragraphs?) to explain how this map works.
Story 4) At the Temple of the Silent Storm your 4 teammates run in one by one and get wiped at Gate. Your home is stolen without resistance. You are at a far node and you know an opponent thief is hiding around waiting for help. So you stayed and your team who just died thinks you are afk because you didn’t die. After the match, you look at the player ranks and again you know why.

5th story: When they lose, the best players farmed skyhammer according to them. Because PvErs think they are the best, and it cant be true that a PvPer is better so he must have played ‘the skyhammer farm’.
I also once had a flamer that told me i played ‘Skyfire farm’. Such a laugh.

Still waiting for further news on how the most rampant issue in TPvP is going to be fixed.
Game is 1 year old and still no ready check? It is a joke.
The thing is that you basicly CAN’T get decent MMS unless you’re in top 100.
The problem is that when u aren’t in top 100, u win 1match, but then u lost like 3.
Why do I have to lose three times in a row , Anet? Why, why and why?
U can be unlucky, but everytime it’s because of this failed MM.
Are you going to do something against this? Quite done with this kitten now.

I am not against the PvE side of the game. But its quite annoying that you’re losing four times in a row, then u get flamed every match? While its THEIR fault that we are losing.

But they deciding on Balance, because all the competent PvP-Crowd left the game. Now A-Net is adjusting the game, based on their opinion. Agreed, the point is also that the PvErs are tricky as what.
The money linked to wins in PvP, and they directly cross to PvP.. Before that PvP was nothing for them, and they are just being greedy and thinking they can make more money here.
Sad thing is that it isnt GW1, where PvPers ruled the economy.
They are disapointed that it is hard to win for this little amount, meanwhile we PvPers are driven in the corner by them, since we have LOADS of PvErs in soloq now.
As Empa mentoined, it is true that they dont get the mechanics at all. In PvP it isnt zerging with best gear against mobs with tons of people.
Then they wonder why their ‘skills’ arent functioning like in PvE. Since PvErs are the gods, they just flame the PvPers because in PvE they can do everything easy.
