SoloQ: you won't feel super powerful
It works like this when you get a good team:
Warrior :" go on and burst them down, I’ve locked them down for you"
Thief :" no need to watch your back, I’ll watch it for you"
Mesmer :" they’ve thought they were winning…they were wrong"
Guardian:" just hide behind me, I’ll cover for you"
Engineer: “I give you..superior firepower, trash them!”
Ranger :" keep them away from me..they’ll go down soon"
Necromancer :“time to turn the tides of this battle..to our favour”
Elementalist:" when you need…where you need"
Lol.
It will change allot as your rise through the ranks you will have hotjoin like play at the bottom and your teams skill will rise as you rise. Then you will only have to deal with bads a low rating.

In an ideal world, that is how it would work. However, not every class has effective PvP builds right now. I’ve literally no idea what a mesmer would roll in soloQ and expect success, for example.
i don’t think people who love hotjoin will ever go to tpvp nor even care about it
like how i only soloq’ed…i don’t like hotjoin zerg and im too lazy to find a team
people who have a team will stuck with team tpvp as well.

I think the most significant phenomenon to note is that people think something is imbalanced/get frustrated when they only win 50% of the time, as people often think they’re better for whatever reason and therefore should win more. Even though they often aren’t better.
I might actually hop into the solo queue from time to time to enjoy some casual tPvP. It’ll be like objective-based sPvP, where people want to try to win instead of just roam.
At least, sometimes.

I think killing mobs in PvE is designed to create the fantasy that you are very powerful. People forget that in balanced PvP they are playing against real humans who are often much more skilled and knowledgeable.

Oh, god, please, not this. Anything but this. I want games to not be decided before they start. “Oh, they have a monk/ritualist. We don’t. Oh well…”
In a well-matched SoloQ series of games, you will struggle to do much better than 50% wins. And most battles will be longer and a challenge to win. In most matches the score will be close all through the game. You won’t be sure you are going to win until the last moments.
Consequently, you will feel less powerful. So…for those who love to hotjoin-zerg with an overpowered team, it will feel like a letdown.
But for those who understand what is really going on, you will expect 50%, unless you and your team make some better-than-average decisions, and pull off some strategies in a better-than-average manner.
Just sayin’…be ready.
All of these things sound fantastic.
Competitive matches are far too few and far between.

Thats not what I was referring to. I’m simply referring to the idea that one doesn’t have to expect to go up against a full premade vs one high rank and the rest 1-10 rank. Now, both teams will have to face that reality.

Just because we getting solo que doesn’t mean matchmaking is going to be perfect, matchmaking is still going to be the same, you can still have 3 guardians or more on your team.

Well there’s going to be matches when your team has a better comp and when opposing team has better comp. So yeah, you’re going to have some of that, so prepare for it, it’s solo que.
I already feel that a lot of people expect the world to change now with solo que, many people seem to have this idea in the back of their mind that their team comps will always be fair. They won’t be, but at least you won’t be going up against premades. So if what you said about RA in GW1 bothered you, it will bother you here. The only difference is that there is no such important class in GW2 team comp as monk might have been in GW1. Although I’ve had many 20+ win streaks in GW1 without a monk in my team… Just people that knew what they’re doing.
No more zergs at least.

Just keep spamming that Phantasmal Beserker from 1200 range where no one can reach you.
I have so little faith in solo q that I believe it will just end up being a bunch of new players jumping in and kitten ing around like it’s hot-join for the first few weeks. The next few months will probably be the same thing but a lot less annoying.

Have u tried to win a teamfight without a guardian ? I think I won one, a long time ago, so it’s theoretically possible to do, i guess.
did always soloQ only (real soloQ not this joining with 4 other soloQ friends^^ thats premade^^) and for this it can only be better after patch
had often 15+ matches in a row vs premades and win chance in soloQ before patch was way lower than 50%^^

Perhaps.
You should be lucky that you don’t have to worry about if teammates brought rez signet. Instead, you will have to deal with players who do not rez, even though the option to do so is there.
I think it might be harder for players to rez in gw2 than it was to add a rez signet to their skill bar in gw1.

I HATE it when I mistform right to an allies feet for them to rez me, only to have them run away and keep dpsing… So frustrating! I find the problem most commonly occurs with rangers who refuse to rez, but I’m sure other classes are just as bad at it.

Solo que win chance is 18.18% one day out of 11 games. Day2 was 40% out of 10 games. Its best to party with known good players after match, duo queing and above I noticed a drastic increase in win %.
Although with new system you cannot do so, so you’ll be stuck with luck. The only thing I can say to help you win your solo que when the patch comes out is good luck, I hope the games are 5v4 favoring you and you have good profession balance on your team as well.
In the new SoloQ everyone will be in the same boat on that leaderboard. Everyone will have about a 50% chance of winning once the ranks are established for the majority of the playerbase.
Overall, your team composition will be favorable about half the time; unfavorable the other half. It can go in streaks of course. But over 50 games it should even out.
The determining factor will be how well a person can adapt to the group they are assigned to and come up with a way to win with that team comp, that match.
…unless people find a way to game the system. And I am hoping ANet is smart enough to figure out how people will be trying to game it, and have designed it so people cannot game it.

Another thought, you will still be able to find good players in soloQ and then group up with them after the match to do regular team tPvP matches.
The original poster is correct.
And I also think this is why some people are raging. They expected to dominate by their own actions, rather than the team.

I find it naive when some guy writes in team cheat: “Do this, this and this and we’ll win for sure”.
I bet someone in the other team is writing the very same thing.
Actually most of the time random teams don’t discuss strategy (at least not for now). So if at start of the match you DO make some plans, and people actually follow that plan (that’s the hard part) you chances of winning improve a lot.
But I gave up on trying to organize my random team a long time ago, because there’s always an ignorant kitten that can’t read and does stuff his own way (which is usually the most stupid stuff he could do). So it’s all just a waste of my energy…

I do this. #Top5.
Am I good?… I’m good.
It’s important to at least try to communicate stuff with the team if you want your best chances of winning. Even if not everyone listens, if only 1 or 2 do, that’s still an improvement on your EV.
And I dunno, when you play bunker guard and you haul your team to victory by ressing the same guy 4 times in a row to win the fight, it does feel kinda powerful
