Some ideas for Ranger changes
#allisvain
So.
Instead of fixing a spec you don’t like.
You would rather utterly kill it.
Sure you’re not a dev in disguise?
Spirits are easy to fix, all they have to do is get that 60% health nerf, but last for 3~s giving out a strong aoe buff if it survives the full duration… after those 3s, or if it dies, the ranger gets a new skill for 8~ seconds, something like a pbaoe knockback or cone of burning/snare…
That’d add oodles of depth, drop the petting zoo feel and actually make the utility fun.

I hope no one takes this thread seriously.
Spirit Rangers are boring to play, obnoxious to play against, and make viewing PvP matches a ‘petting zoo’ disaster.
I purpose that spirits get significantly nerfed (especially spirit of nature), and signets/survival utilities get buffs. This will hopefully wipe out spirit rangers in PvP, and give the Ranger more viable builds + encourage play that requires a bit more skill.
*The nerfs:
– Reduce spirit health by 60% (back to the value it was before April 2013 patch).
– Increase spirit cooldowns from 25s to 35s, for spirit of nature 180s to 220s.*The buffs:
– Signet of Renewal: Reduce cooldown to 50 sec.
– Signet of Stone: Reduce cooldown to 60 sec.
– Signet of the Wild: Remove cast time so the signet benefit is instant, and fix the bug with the skill that prevents characters from interacting with objects, reviving, or finishing opponents.
– Lightning Reflexes: Reduce Vigor gain to 5 seconds, and add 5 seconds of Stability.
– Quickening Zephyr: Reduce cooldown to 50 sec.
– Sharpening Stone: Change from 6 sec bleed to 4 sec bleed + 2 sec weakness.Thoughts?
What build do you think that would make, honestly terrible idea’s.
Just reduce there casting “EFFECT”. Spirit’s are no way near overpowered so not sure what your thinking.

This spirit build isa complete borefest . I don’t how people are doing to play it. Even the stun OP warr is somehow more enjoyable. I mean comon 11111 spam on SB …..

Pfff. Mad? Not mad but just sad on the way some people play the game. Even back then before spirit nerf i wouldn’t play this boring build.
Funny how, when you watch most Spirit Ranger’s they have almost all there skills on CD along with pet control.
Yeah lol 1111111111 cry some more.
It’s like you want our auto-attack to be some kick kitten dance move.

ranger shortbow is just very uninteresting, and feels braindead to play.
Lol, the only classes that is fun to Watch is thieves/engineers. Everything else seem to look very slow and braindead.
taking back the 60% buff is stupid, i mean its like they are just throwing things out there..“lets put 60% and see what happens,oh lets remove 20%,it was too much lets put another 10%,i get it now,we should remove 5% and then buff for 15%”
Taking buffs back is a wrong..
What they need to do is make spirits less visible and dont force ppl to take 4 spirits and trait for 30.
Its a common problem with Rangers, when they need to specc for something they need to go all the way down the traitlines.Signets-Spirits-Traps….Everything needs 30 traits in some traitline.
Skills like spirits are too weak without the proper traiting. So if you invest 30 points and 3 major traits for some current skills you are forced to fill every slot you have with them.Otherwise traits are wasted..
Spirits doenst need nerf or something, its the Ranger that needs buff
@OP
Destroying viable builds for any class isn’t way to go.
Why don’t you dummies blame developers instead of players when talking about rangers ‘using just 1 skill’? It’s not like they have a choice if they want to play a ranger with a bow. No offense but every class in this game is boring to watch unless you want to learn something new.
Your idea of making more build diversity is to destroy one of the professions only viable builds? That’s dome brilliant logic right there.
all is vain
Stability on LR? Why not instead on “Protect Me” given how it’s subpar compare to the toughness and traited invuln from SoS? I won’t debate any other points (I disagree with some things regarding spirits), but your proposal for LR struck me; it’s so odd and out of the ordinary, I felt I had to comment. What’s your thinking on that?
Anything to promote more timed and skillful play, rather than all of this automated AI spam.
All classes are more fun when you’ve got more to do than just auto-shot and randomly evade whatever. It would help WvW too because less AI means less targets to calculate.
The best way to move people away from spirit builds is to make the other builds more viable. If you make it so power builds are more viable, people will move away from spirit builds.
I would love a longbow/GS build thats comparable to spirits. (GS is decent, damage is pretty meh, and long bow is general is pretty….blah)
Once again follow the warriors. They’re so good because they’re so balanced. They can run so many different types of playstyle.
Don’t nerf spirits, buff the other playstyles to comparable levels (This goes with necros, mesmers, guardians etc.)
Remove spirits.
Change the spirit traits to put a spirit buff on the Ranger’s active pet instead and anything near the Ranger’s pet will get the spirit buff just like now. Activating the spirit abilities will be centered on the pet. If the pet dies or swaps, the spirits are ‘shed’ and activate their abilities. You can still activate all of the spirit buffs.
All signets changed to no longer need Signet of the Beastmaster trait.
Fortifying Bond changed so all boons/buffs the pet gets the Ranger gets. This way the Ranger will always have the spirit buff. They can also gain melee boons when standing at range.
