Why is it some matches I join, I can join the fight right away and others I have to sit and spectate the whole game?

because they removed the official 8 vs 8 servers.

the ones you joined are 5 vs 5 servers but with 20 players limit so 10 will be spectating the match while 10 will be playing.

if you joined a game with 6-8/20 players you have a good chance to play right away.

This is stupid

I finished a match and when the next round started, people who haven’t even played the last match got priority and I got booted to spectate.

well, actually, i think, players who load the maps faster get the priority.

graphics set to best performance will load the maps faster
graphics set to best appearance might load the maps slower

nowadays i only play gw2 with best performance graphics (lowest settings) but i set it to “native” so the characters look better.

and for player models,
quality low
quantity lowest

so i can at least see what other players are wearing.
