Spectator Mode: Less money for streamers?
I think streaming could still be successful regardless.
Part of streams is entertainment, some players are simply entertaining to watch play or listen to. Plus they can give commentary and you can see the game from their point of view, watching their cooldowns, how they play, etc to learn from it much better.
Watching a stream if you’re interested in watching the overall match isn’t that great anyway really, so that’s what spectator would be for.
I wouldn’t worry.
…and you can see the game from their point of view, watching their cooldowns, how they play, etc to learn from it much better.
And i expect this from spectator mode too. Who cares about a free-fly cam in spectator mode? They should take a look at DotA2-spec mode. Thats the way it should be – anything else would be disappointing.
Spectormode perfect for bigger tournaments/leauges later then custom arena comes for commentary, dont know how they will make this spectormode but probaly will they make is so you can set a password or you need to be invited to the game.
I suggested this on my stream, but, imo it would be great to have a gem-cost per spectate. Maybe give the owner of that custom game (if he allows spectators) 10% or so of the cost?

Charging people to spectate is really bad unless your content is extremely compelling, there is a reason why most video content is supported via adds rather than subscription fees.
Judging from the GW1 system, it will simply be a 3rd person view and therefore not POV. Still reason to watch streams.
How do you pronounce your name?
The main selling point for streams is the documentary. As long as they don’t implement such a feature into spectator mode, it should be fine!
I think by spectator mode they meant if the game reached eSport level spectators could easily spectate without having to jump all over the place looking for the action, where stuff is happening. Who is taking which base. Not just hop in someones game and watch it, although that would be cool, you could just keep games locked or password protected like in Dota 2 if you want to spectate.

I think LoL is a great reason to say why this is not an issue. LoL has a spectator mode yet it is still (at nearly all times) the most watched game on twitch.tv
