Just read that spectator mode will allow others to see your entire build(traits, sigils, amulet, ect). Will there be an option to not allow certain parts of your build to be seen publicly. I know I and a few of my freinds who spent months creating our builds and it was part of the spvp experience(actually learning your class). Now new members will just steal top player builds instead of thinking of ways to craft their own/learn their class better.

A build doesn’t make the player. If you don’t believe that, then you are not at a level to try and hide super secret builds…

Besides, we will see more diversity.

That’s the whole point of spectator mode. Watching a top player, and learning from it.

Reminds me of the Monk guy back in original Guild Wars who hid his skillbar when soloing Underworld, frapsing it, and people were speculating of what he used, what skills and everything.

He tried to sell his build for cash, but one guy found out the build, and it was the 55Monk build!

I understand your point but there are already a ton of top builds posted in each class forum. What you and I and many others have done is tweak builds testing everything finding what builds works for all builds have been posted at this point, you might change things in it but the core builds are already there for the taking. So if someone just copies your build its likely if they will ever be your competition that they will have made adjustments anyway.

Builds and gear combos in GW2 are not even close to as complex as GW1.

No one is going to actually watch games until Anet gets serious about meeting the expectations of the PvP base, these are the people that helped promote GW2 and got the PvE masses looking at the game.

To the first guy, never said a build can make a player. My point of this post (if you actually read it) was saying now players can have a shortcut and not put the time to master their class. I was suggesting if there is an option to hide certain parts like traits because maybe that new player will actually take the time and think about a new build rather than just copy/paste.

I disagree. Please let us see the full builds including gear/runes/sigils of the people playing.

That is quite stupid; they might as well establish wiki builds for all the people who can’t figure out how their class functions. The game does require skill to some degree, but since this game’s build-making mechanism is already undiversified due to a lack of skills to chose from, there will be pugs picking up builds that arn’t difficult to play (and there are powerful builds that exist that are simple to play). The point of setting my traits the way I do is to give myself somewhat of an edge over someone who set theirs differetly than I did, even if that edge is just slight. If everyone has the same build and the only factor is skill, it will make an already somewhat boring game mode pointless to play. Unfortunately for me I only play pvp so this spectator mode is pretty much going to finish killing an already maimed gametype.

Knowing what the build is is one thing. Knowing how to play it effectively is something else entirely.

Boy stop trying to pick a fight on my thread and stay on topic if you want to duel me for 10 gold hit me up otherwise don’t post. To spartan..exactly. There will be no type of build diversity once everyone rolls the same build. Theres only a handfull of builds per class that are even worth persuing and the lack of viable pvp builds is sad.
