We desperately need some new goals for spvp players to aspire towards. It is not very difficult to reach the highest rank in the game(80), and get a few champ titles. Now what do we have to strive for? Setting and chasing goals is what makes games like this fun for a lot of people. Reward tracks, and impending seasons are a step in the right direction, but in my opinion it wouldn’t be too hard to come up with something to keep more players invested for a longer time, especially the group of players that play a lot but aren’t at a high enough level to compete seriously in weekly and monthly tournaments.

Here are some ideas to fix this problem arranged from easiest to most involved:

1.) Develop different finishers and/or skins for 1000 wins, 2000 wins, 3000 wins etc in ranked matches as a way to extend the rank system and allow players to show their experience.

2.) Create new achievements and/or titles with ways for players to show these long-term accomplishments. One for getting a champion title on all 8 classes would be cool.

3.) 3-4 times daily tournaments supported in game, with potential for a qualifying point system for weekly/monthly tournaments supported in-game.

4.) And the most time and resource demanding, but undoubtedly the best way to solve the problem: New game modes!

An ongoing ladder tournament similar to HoH from GW1 would provide an opportunity to incorporate less popular maps and different game modes. Matchmaking takes care of itself because good teams spend most of their time fighting higher up on the ladder, and less experienced teams would have a chance to win a few matches on the first few rungs of the ladder. So many maps have already been created that could be used for this as well, like the ones used in seasonal activities. Maybe even some 5v5v5 action on some tiers…gvg style matches…so many things that could happen to entertain players and keep them pvping.

Conquest is great, new ui looks great, loved watching WTS matches, but give us something to shoot for!

ummmmm goals….. let me think, pve’ers go for achievements, pvp’ers go for $50,000, but ah yaa, it would be nice if we got MAWR.

While I generally dislike playing the “compare” game, I do think its time for some more PvP achievements.
WvW gets new temporary achievements during their tournaments, and PvE has Living World. In the future, while PvP tournaments are ongoing, maybe PvP could also have temporary achievements, With a meta and everything to encourage people to play.

Also staying on the subject of achievements. In general, just having more would be nice. When Dailies were updated so that we can complete them all that are applicable in PvP, it felt pretty great completing things like Condi applier, condi remover, dodger, kills etc. I think PvP should have Achievements like these, that are long term; However, nothing too specific. I say that because if they add achievements like “get a title/skin if you slay 500 forest creatures”, then we will begin to get players that may ignore actual objectives in an attempt to patten their achievement points. General things like dodges, stun breaks, disables, captures would be appreciated. ESPECIALLY ones for things like when you’re dominating or conquering in game. Those should have some sort of achievement tracking them. (Maybe top stats too?) Sorry for the wall of text.

I’d love new champ titles because the current ones are terrible. 150 wins is extremely easy to achieve and you can do it in a few weeks. However, on the other end of the spectrum you have Champion Bawler, which is 10k tPvP wins and that’s a very very long term goal. There needs to be a middle ground.

Also more meaningful PvP rewards. Ladders is a great step in the right direction, however you can only give out llamas for so long!

PvP needs meaningful rewards to draw people in and to keep them playing. I’m not talking about mats and PvE items, but exclusive PvP items such as the Glorious Armor and Balthazar back piece.

We need the league structure, which pretty much is a complex reward infrastructure.
There needs to be a reward for time played competitively and for skill. The money rewards is for the high-end players. As of now there’s only the money reward for the high end players and rewards for time spend playing pvp (which includes hotjoin, so that’s not really competitive).

Rewards can be titles, mini’s, armor, weapons, finishers, capes :p, etc. As long as it’s exclusive to pvp and exclusive to the league you’re in.

Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!

I think this topic is a great one! There needs to be several more mid and long term achievements/titles in pvp.
I would love to see some different armor and weapon skins unique to pvp other than the glorious hero’s armor. A legendary type weapon skin for pvp achievement. like X amount of wins in ranked play, etc.
