While I do love the fact that you guys at anet are trying to fix the race size difference issue in PvP, I think you did not choose the best way. I think it has a good chance of getting bugged and you don’t get to show your armor off which is a big part of MMORPG games. I feel like PvP will begin to be your team vs. what looks like a bunch of NPCs. It will become generic, dull aesthetics wise. It’s like always playing on the same map in a way or having the same armor for a long period of time.

My suggestions is to simply not let asura and, if you think it’s needed, norn or charr to play PvP. If you want to do PvP, play human or sylvari. I understand that this way, people are being pushed to human and sylvari, but out of two bad things, you choose the least harmful one. I think asura is the only reason you made the change, so just banning asura from PvP is good enough. This way you give people even more choice but then I suppose people will feel forced into human as they’re going to be the smallest. This will go on and on until you limit it to 1 race or just human/sylvari. You could also just make asura only for PvP, it would be my favorite even though I do not think you will do that. I think it would be better than human/sylvari as most people play asura for PvP at the moment, you’re going to make a smaller group of people switch races if you make it asura only.

I do not think that it is something you would do as you already have the standard model thing made I guess so why not just make it affect asura and, if you think it is needed, norn and charr. This allows the people that want to see other peoples armor and for other people to see their armor to re-roll to the races that are not affected by the system.

I would like an option to replace all-human models with all-charr. Charrs do have the most visible animations, in my opinion.

The animations for commands/signets are very visible in particular (standing straight), Warrior’s skills, Thief’s.

That would make PvP a bit too easy IMO. Human is big enough to see but you still need to look a bit. I think it’s a good balance.

I wouldn’t know. I’m not downed as much as you apparently.

but L2R is a good thing. ANET is introducing new PvP armor. What’s the point if no one can see it? You must have missed that, so I explained a second time for you.

That’s not the point. You should of at least read OP which isn’t that long, MMORPG is about showing off your armor and looking like something. Even if it wasn’t, PvP would become dull with that enabled. It will always look the same and you will get bored of constantly seeing the same opponents, if you switch back, asuras have an advantage. So it’s loose-loose. The latter will be a smaller loss so most will gravitate towards that but then the entire feature is pointless as you’re going to be back at the beginning. There were so many ways ANet could of taken care of this and I think they chose the wrong way.

they had plenty of better options,
but in true anet fashion they went with what was easiest.

1. they could have upscaled asurans by 20-30% in pvp (or gave us an option to do so)
but for whatever reason they decided not to do this…
probably because it would require work with effect scaling.

2. they could have altered the asuran animations to be more easily read,
this would have been the best cause of action but this would require them to do some work, and they do not like work!.

3. they could have made the system only standardise the model of asurans.
lets be real here, the only reason for this standardisation is asurans.

4. they could have made the standard human model still show your armour/weapons,
but this would require more work than just plastering the same ugly model on to everyone.

in terms of game impact this is’nt as big of a blunder as spectator/team select in spvp (i have no idea why that is still in game…)
but it will drastically lower the experience as the OP stated (it will seem like fighting the same default NPCs over and over) and also impact all future outfit/armour sales.

@Liewec => They even mentioned that asuras are the only reason they’re making the update, so I’m not completely sure why they don’t just ban asuras from coming into PvP which I think takes like 10 minutes to code or, as both you and I already said, just make the update for asura characters

@kolompi => What do you think why I will not turn it off? I think it’s pretty obvious.

Most of us play pvp for the competition with other Gw2 players, not to see their shiny armour. It won’t have the slightest effect on us, and certainly won’t make us “bored”.
We aren’t all a bunch of 12 year olds you know.

If you don’t turn it off then that’s your personal choice right there. You have the option to look at armours or have this turned on and see the standard models. We can all move on.

Right now this feature is for top tier players/teams. Top teams competing wouldn’t care about how well dressed the enemy is lol. They care about reading the enemy’s movements, rotations, and skills. This isn’t barbie wars 2.

This feature is everything that top tier players and teams are looking for to fix the asura problem. They even went a step further and added distinct weapons and armor for each individual class so teams that take pvp srsly can learn the class not only by the skills but now the armor which will increase communication between the teammates resulting in a advantage for the teams that take advantage of this advantage. This is a huge move in the right direction. Also this feature was done perfectly the only problems it has is where it’s going to be implemented (example: it’s not gonna b available in solo q)

Your worried about gem armor sales. PVE PLAYERS IF YOU DONT PLAY PVP. DONT POST IN THE PVP FORUMS. YOU MAKE YOUR SELF LOOK LIKE A IDIOT.
