-Do you need gear to pvp?
-Does level matter in pvp?
-Is there a particular meta when it comes to builds nowadays (burst, sustain, movement, etc?)

The last time I tried to pvp was at launch after I reached max level. At launch there were vendors with gear and sigils so you could make a completely custom build. Does that exist anymore, and did they move the vendors? I’ve been gone for a while and I’m a little lost in the current state of things. Some tips or directions to noob guides would be appreciated. A “Here is literally everything you need to know guide” would be preferable.

Unfortunately, yes. Just use any class with a lot of burning, or play a Mesmer.

That’s the worst advice you can give to a newbie. VOIP Premade Pro builds are completely unsuitable for a beginner.

Metabattle is a bit biaised as it makes you beleive there are several meta builds.
In fact there are only 2: cele dd ele & d/p thief(but max 1 per team)
Rest is acceptable but sub-par.
As a beginner it is nice to play with a good build to figure out that if you loose…it is more a skill issue.

If I did not want to learn, I would not be a member of OMFG, Teef and Wind. There is a newcomer really helped.^^

You learn nothing by copying unsuitable builds, but a lot of experienced players.

Unfortunately, yes. Just use any class with a lot of burning, or play a Mesmer.

Perfect, it sounds like I can just read up on meta. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t getting my kitten kicked in for a dumb reason.
