Mr.Peters made a comment about in Gw1 people watched bars…instead of watching the game play…(not word for word)

This is incorrect. Only bad players red-barred. Good players watched the field of play.

When I first started playing Gw2 fresh out of Gw1, I hated it. I took a 5 month break. I came back and fell in love with the Pvp. One of the reasons I was able to fall in love with the game for what Gw2 is, was because I finally separated the two games for which each one is. It took some time, yes, but I was able to do it. There is no comparing the two in anyway.

After listening to the new State of the Game, tonight, I have decided that there sounds like some good things might be coming. I had decided to quit playing. But, I am now going to stay fresh in the game and hopefully Gw2 gets it together to make this game amazing. It has the potential. Just listen to your players. We are not complaining because we hate the game. We are trying to help develop the game to what it can be.

yes, im already semi quit, but state of the game today did stated some good stuff that will make the game more enjoyable. so i’ll stay for another month or two, to give them a chance once more. balance isnt much of an issue for me anymore only if its not as ridiculous as the necro one, so ill put faith to the devs for that. what make me sad the most is the features, soloq is a mess, rewards are limited, player base is poor, etc.
but they said they will fix these things, so i like it.

GW1 Monk players watched bars. That’s their job.

GW2 showcases 1v1 or smaller team fights that requires micro to be successful. The only 1v1 that happened in GW1 is cripshot ranger 1v1 flagstand fight which was hot in 2005. It’s mostly 8v8 who had people redbarring and 321 spiking or sometimes split which will most of the time coalesce to 8v8 again.

I agree with Jon Peters, if he said that.

[Bad] GW1 Monk players watched bars. That’s their job.

Fixed. Bars would not tell you if enemies were trying to line up a spike on one of your team, only let you react to spikes. For the best parts of GW1 preemptive protection was balanced and more capable than healing after the fact. Gameplay deteriorated with powercreep.

Do we just have to take everything from the SotG and state it completely out of context?

what did he say exactly, and why should we believe we will see change in the near future?

Eh, like Kelly said, bad players watched bars. I fused and I can tell you, yeah, you might be able to know who’s health is getting low and that person needs a heal, but it didn’t tell me when they had diversion on them or just (for argument’s sake) wastrel’s demise, one of which may need hex removal the other of which does not need my help at all. So ultimately, I think the addition of bars would help more than hurt gameplay.

Well, John gained a little respect from me. While most his comments were vague and empty. He did have some good points. And I for one applaud making the bold move to attack RNG across the board and limit the runes down to a few vital ones so they can focus on making them better visually etc. instead of leaving in a bunch of nub trap rune sets that simply fill a niche character who isn’t concerned about maximizing his potential..but instead of just messing around with joke builds to have fun with an extra minion or some crap. Also focusing on getting aoe under control and opening up weapon options is huge, I don’t think many people consider the weapon abilities represent certain play styles. By making a weapon better at doing its job, you make that play style more attractive.

Over all this made me feel a bit better, though I am incredibly dubious about the game. I will keep my eye on the progress and see where things go. Good points John and other dude. Hope to hear more from you guys, glad to hear your up to taking the steps to fixing things that have been broke for far too long.

Everyone here does. No one would put up with Anet if they didn’t love the game. That’s why it’s so frustrating.

as a boon monk and an infusion monk you don’t want your teams bars, you want the enemies bars to see who their targeting. All players are not created equal, you’d find their weak player and watch them they’d almost always target early then you’d be ready.
