State of the mesmer.
@jportell: I overlooked that post, my bad. But this brought my attention to something. JP’s post is 1month more recent compared to JK’s. 2months ago they admitted something was wrong, and 1month later someone else says its not an actual bug and doesn’t even confirm it. Something is horribly wrong in their communication methods.
Yes it shows a complete lack okittennowledgement on the issue and communication. The look on Jsharps face when Zoose brought the issue up yesterday was mind boggling…. I thought to myself “You are a lead designer! Either you don’t look at forums as much as you say or the people working for you suck at communicating!”

You could be like Necro’s and have no place at all in tournaments, even with our most viable tournament build (also see: Warriors). Mesmers are in a great spot right now compared to other professions. They have the same problems every other profession has, except they are less severe and have a lot of other things that actually works for them.
I can tell a world of difference between my Necro and my Mesmer. Mesmers have near null reason to complain at the games current state.
Im sorry what game are you playing? A condi-mancer out does a condition damage of any other class in the game (except engi). Also if the team runs two necros then any AOE fight is now in that teams favor thanks to chainable AOE fears and wells… If the necros are running the minion mancer build they are almost harder to kill than a bunker guard especially for a Mesmer (WORST CONDI REMOVAL IN THE GAME!). Necros can be on a team with out that team having to build around them. If a Mesmer goes into a tournament with anything other than some form of a shatter build they are just hurting their team no matter what. I have played with and against some kitten good necros all running a variety of builds… Mesmer hkittenter and phantasm. Only one is good for a tournament.
In a SOTG some time ago Nero and Xeph were the co-hosts and at that time Jsharp said they want to UP build diversity for all classes… Every patch since that statement has one by one removed a build from Mesmer arsenal.

And those mechanics get broken every single patch right? The day before a patch something is working and then the day of the patch its broken with no mention on fixing it and then never fixed in subsequent patches right? Oh wait that’s not how it is for you… Engineer had a bug fixed that hampered them because of the patch just yesterday….

Phantasms are a mesmers only source of DPS outside of shatters… Every Mesmer auto attack pretty much sucks when it comes down to direct damage. Outside of that the skills that summon clones don’t do much damage or they do no damage. The phantasm spec is only too strong because of Empowered illusions in Domination III. And this trait is a freaking dinosaur from when clones actually did some damage but were nerfed. If ANET were to remove this trait or rework it would be a step at dealing with the phantasm spec.
However the point of this thread is to highlight Mesmer bugs that are introduced EVERY patch and never noticed by the developers. It was made because for some reason they find catering to what people say in pvp more important than what people say on the class forums. Which is why this thread is here. Mesmer is in bad state. Not because we can’t hold our own but because every patch pushes us further and further into nothing but IOL and Portal machines.

If you duel around there are many more viable builds that seem completely original mesmers have the most variety when it comes to viable build options but unfortunately they take many unfixed bugs. They many need a fix but not before mesmers can be used bug-less.
Let me tell about my state of the mesmer
After 300 games played as Warrior I made mesmer for spvp. Never played a mesmer just Warrior since lunch.
Its like im playing a different game. At first I just mashed buttons because I was too lazy to look at skills description – still win duels and not die in team fights.
Now I know what those skill do – I berly die and score more than with my Warrior.
And the clones. Oh the clones are just ridiculus.
So please make a Warrior and tell me about stat of the mesmers.I have like 2k+ games with mesmer class and ppl still manage to down me in tpvp aswell as with thief or bunker guardian (Even xeph, helseth and many others really good mesmers eventually go down)…2 cases here…you were bad as hell with war or you’re just going hotjoin/1vs1 swag (Look at mee noob, i’m da kiiinggg..i’ll faceroll you 1vs1…come get some!!! YEahhh!!1!1) duels and you don’t meet decent players…and you’re probably playing phantasm that is totally worthless outside killing nabs in hotzerg or duels…go shatter (Since phantasm, as i said, it’s totally unuseful) in tpvp (With team utilities..portal, time warp and maybe illusion of life too) and try being so immortal vs someone with a brain…you’ll see the difference by youself..welcome to the real world..or you can just stay hotzerg but at least please stop claiming mesmers are immortal just because you can kill bads spamming phantasms…or you get killed by another one spamming phantasms too..

Mesmer being in good state in spvp and being powerful profession didnt event cross your mind becasue that would mean that all your success in pvp didnt depend on your skill but just class your playing.
And me being bad as hell as warrior, yea that it, I played it just for 1600+ hours and dont know what you call second skill in gs.
And dont teach me how to play mesmer because I dont care, I dont plan to play it anymore, its simply not fun and chalanging for me enough.

I usually don’t bite, but you need to know that the engineer bug that was hotfixed was the one that made a skill more powerful by mistake (glue bomb). The negative bug created last patch, which makes minefield broken in addition to subpar, is still in the game.
I’m not disagreeing with Anet’s fix priority—it was probably the right order to address the issues in. All I’m saying is, you can stop assuming that your profession is always hurt and other professions are always helped. It’s incorrect.
Edit: looks like minefield has now been addressed as well, sorry about that. Point remains.

Played 6 professions… My necro out conditions the Mesmer and the Mesmer dies…. my ele out lives with no problem thanks to the healing…. My bunker guard which is the anti condition build sits there and goes nananananana can’t touch me… And my with the BM build is pretty much immortal as a side point holder… The only one that I have a really hard time with against a Mesmer was on my thief…
And also Mesmer patch sees more bugs go unfixed than any other class… Every patch that a class gets something broken and is mentioned (Thief hidden killer trait for one) was hot fixed with in two days… This recent patch fixed a couple things that were OP on the Mesmer like the infinite range sink underwater… But introduced at least two new bugs that have yet to be addressed… Meanwhile bugs that other classes got as a result of the patch have already been fixed…
Do people see where I am going here? Game breaking build limiting bugs for the Mesmer never seem to be addressed…. Any other class that gets a but INTRODUCED thanks to a patch is addressed usually very quickly.
Id like to see Illusionary Elasticity work with staff clones, not sure if its a bug or if its intended though.

The way it works with clones NOW and this is all bouncing attacks is it just goes straight to the nearest entity even if its a freaking small bunny or some bs… Before this most recent patch may 28th all bouncing attacks went to players or to aggroed mobs… not to clones… Currently if your clones are any unit closer than you to the target they will now get the bouncing buff from your WOC.
I don’t understand what’s broken about Illusionary Berserker? I use it pretty often in sPvP and it hits like a truck. I bet I get 3300+ on ten attacks in a row on target golems.
A 1200 range 3300-3900 damage AOE skill with a 12 second cooldown is disgustingly stupid. Plus if it lives it will keep attacking over and over.

Out of the professions I have played Mesmer is the only one where a huge bug is introduced and then just left with out any acknowledgement for months. When it is acknowledged it is a simple “Oh that’s weird we’ll look at it” Or “We have no earthly cluse what happened but we are gonna try fixing it.” And here we are 3 months later and our supposedly most damaging phantasm barely breaks 1k damage in a build that has 3600 power….
Take thief for instance in Feb or March the hidden killer trait got broken… Within a couple days it was fixed… Anything that gets bugged out with the Mesmer for what ever reason is swept under the rug and forgotten about by everyone except Mesmer players that have to deal with seeing how they can work with another new broken skill/trait/weapon.
Do we need all the attention from the devs? No do we need way more than we are currently getting.. Absolutely.

It is random… Before feb 26. It would consistently hit harder than the numbers you are giving now… After… It may break 1k if we are lucky… It may do almost 5k (once out of every 30+ attacks on a golem)… We want it to behave consistently like it did before whatever bug broke it on FEB. 26th.
If the argument “please fix bugs you’re putting in every single patch” was not presented referring to mesmers, probably everybody would have nodded and +1’ed.
But cause it’s mesmer it’s so trendy to flame it.
Aka: it’s not matter of balance. Skills MUST work properly, regardless of powerfulness class and balance. End of the story.

Every profession need the same attention from devs.
As I said before, Necromancers are still getting 1/3 of health when downed since launch, which is, to be honest, quite a gamebreaking bug when compared to only a skill not working properly.

State of the Necromancer topic is about balancing, not bugfixing. When someone makes a “State of the Mesmer” topic, it implies that the state of the Mesmer is pretty much bad and it needs to be looked at balance-wise.
Once you read the OP, you realize that the only purpose of this topic is to urge the developers to fix bugs which were already acknowledged, which doesn’t exactly make sense.
What do we want to to discuss about when developers have already stated they are aware of the bugs and they are working on? Do you guys think that if you make another topic saying how bugged the Mesmer is the fixes will come faster?
Or the purpose of this topic is to make a chorus of indignation about how slow the developers are to fix bugs? Well, in that case I see no point into bringing the word “mesmer” into the topic because developers are slow to fix every bug on every profession, not only Mesmer.

No they didn’t. That’s the whole problem with Mesmers. Refer to the 2 points about bouncing and izerker I explained about previously.
Once you manage to go deeper into the game you can realize that the real problem isnt just this or that profession, but its more a whole state of the game problem.
Both mesmers and necros (i can speak for these two cause are my main professions) have a kittenload of interesting builds, the problem is that, for how the meta works now, 80% of those builds are not a good choise compared to the few most used builds.
One of the reason i see this happening is because the actual game mode for pvp force the team to split to different objectives, so you cant run a team comp based on mutual support and complementary builds (what a high lvl teamfight would require), cause if you just stay togheter and “zerg”, you will get outplayed easily.
This is why most players in your team must be as more self sufficient as possible, thus reducing drastically the amount of viable builds.
Sure there are roles to cover, but they are reduced to bunker and dps…. bunkers stay on the point to eat the damage, while dpsers float around trying to kill enemies dpsers.
I already wrote a possible solution to this, so i wont write it all again since this is “mesmer state” topic, there are so many other builds i would love to use on my mesmer, but as OP said i’m forced to put 20 points to get clone on dodge and 30 points to get iPersona…… and considering we are going to be bursty other 20 points will definitely go into power, so it ends up being 20/20/0/0/30; but for example in WvW i use a 20/20/30, and i have lot of fun with it, but it would be totally useless in tourneys, cause it has no burst at all and its not a bunker either cause it relies on stealth.

1) I’ve seen necros die to mesmers countless times- chaos field/null field/chaos armor/bleed on shatter/vulnerability on shatter/confusion on shatter/aoe daze/single daze…on which planet necros outcondition mesmers? You can easily dodge wells…you can’t dodge as easily those clone factory aoe random shatters
2) Ele outlive mesmers? When it was the last time you played as ele vs a Phantasm mesmer ?
3)Guardians beat mesmers?…OK I stop here

From 24k to 12k. You halved the value. Ok. But no, not now. Maybe in WvW before the nerf (Confusion does half damage in both spvp and wvw). But CURRENTLY, there is no way in hell, 6stacks of confusion will deal 12k damage. And shatter radius is melee range around the explosion, so no, not chaos storm radius.
You might as well just say you weren’t paying attention and stood still for 2s inside 100B. Cause that’s what you’re saying spamming enough skills per second to clock 12k confusion damage from 6stacks in 2s.

Rabid amulet mesmer- 350+ confusion dmg -ele caught during rotation with EA trait- bam 12k dmg in 2s due to those 6 stacks of confusion.I know mesmer players just dodge and press F1-F2 given that those aoe shatters got almost the radius of meteor storm while being instant..but at the very least you could learn what your profession does…sigh these fotm rerollers…
From 24k to 12k. You halved the value. Ok. But no, not now. Maybe in WvW before the nerf (Confusion does half damage in both spvp and wvw). But CURRENTLY, there is no way in hell, 6stacks of confusion will deal 12k damage. And shatter radius is melee range around the explosion, so no, not chaos storm radius.
LOL no dude, EA trait trigger confusion, attunement change trigger confusion and the 2-3 spells used trigger confusion, trying to clear confusion…trigger confusion XD, this confusion condition trigger multiple times if you didn’t know..now you do.

You might as well just say you weren’t paying attention and stood still for 2s inside 100B. Cause that’s what you’re saying spamming enough skills per second to clock 12k confusion damage from 6stacks in 2s.
Just to clarify he’s talking about the individuals fire balls from meteor storm not chaos storm. Also with 50% reduction in pvp it would be very rare to be able to receive that amount of damage in the duration of 5 stacks of confusion alone. I could only see that being possible if lets say a d/d ele was spamming through rotations or a ranger was autoattacking with quickness failing to notice the debuff.
All in all , mesmer players asking for buff and nerfs on other professions?

Indeed as I have said of the ele not paying attention as d/d you’ll receive that much dmg from those few stacks of confusion

Lol? What facts did I change? Against an opponent who’s healing constantly , a mesmer can manage to pull off 2 duellist, swap to GS and use an Izerker.
Add signet of illusions which increase HP of illusion by 200%, base HP of illusions is 2k HP and here you’ve got 5k HP pets flying around
According to Wiki, the formula of confusion is:
65 + (0.075 * Condition Damage)
A mesmer with 1000 condition damage (lower extimate) will deal 140 damage per stack.
6 stacks of confusion deals 840 damage per cast.
Just to clarify.
Mesmer is ok. The only real change needed is fixing bugs with Phantasmal Berserker, Signet of Illusions and Illusionary Elasticity.
Fixing those will improve Phantasm Mesmer for group action and will elevate Condition Mesmer spec to a viable state.
Nothing else needed.
jportell, I think you need to change your opening post to clearly indicate that we are looking for bug recognition/fixes and not any buffing/nerfing. It seems most people get that wrong impression the moment they see your post.
I still not see any reason for mesmers to ask anything!
Spvp is populated by thieves and mesmers, wvwvw is full of thieves/mesmer ganking roaming groups, 1vs1 servers are 50% mesmers, 30% thieves and you say to have game breaking bugs?? The only serious bug here is your entire profession, it’s completely broken and should be deleted XD

Rabid amulet mesmers have 1300-1400 condition dmg on average, that’s like over 1k dmg for action and as I have explained ele does multiple actions during a single second, even EA dodge count as a cast
Any bug fixes automatically translates to the class becoming stronger. The mesmer class definitely does not need to become stronger, so if you want bug fixes, nerfs will have to follow.

Here’s the issue, its currently like they are nerfing us by introducing undocumented bugs. I’ll rather they show explanations and numbers to nerfing of things in board daylight. Refer to my post about acceptable nerfing through skill changes and unacceptable nerfing through bugs.
