I have yet to see any threads prior to this update requesting solo queue to be removed.

I however see nothing but, comment after comment, thread after thread of CUSTOMERS wanting solo queue back..

So my question is directed at the Devs. What the heck was going through your minds when you did this??? The community didnt request it.

they didnt remove it because of player demand. They wanted to fix queue times by merging them together. Id rather wait 15-20 mins for a solo queue match then play the current system.

That isn’t fair to ANET. It was more “we know you guys didn’t like skyhammer. we know the way to fix that. we will force everyone to play it except when we have a trial ladder active”

PVP was my favorite thing to do in gw2 before this patch… now it just makes me feel sick because 90% of my matches are pugs vs premade and the other 10% is complete noobs just doing their dailies.

I keep wanting to take a break from PVP but there’s not really anything else fun to do in the game for me. I keep hoping I’ll get lucky and have a good match but it just hasn’t happened. Q_Q

I decided to give Ranked a try for the first time since the new leaderboard/changes a couple days ago.

I was immediately rewarded with a 4v5.

Next, I had a relatively normal match, but clearly one player who was just doing dailies and the bare minimum.

Then, I had a genuine new player who didn’t even know there was a practice que, and he played a thief that didn’t know how to even stealth yet.

How on earth does a Dragon rank get mixed with these type players? It’s not fun for either party and is just ridiculous.

Short que times are great until you realize it just speeds up your misery with ridiculous matchmaking.

I tried again the next day a few matches and it was just as miserable as a solo que’er.

Most people only select one map in ranked and it’s just become absurd to mix premades with solo players. Who on earth thought that makes any sense? How can you possibly do a leaderboard that way???

Yet there are thread, upon thread, upon thread, displaying ire for the old system, and demanding it be changed. Well, they changed it.

What is sad is that solo queueing into team team in the old system gave me good matches 95% of the time. Now a good match is the exception.

That is not good at all. I used to be annoyed seeing people with win rates below 50% in the top 100. Now we see them throughout the board. This really needs a total revamp

This is a beta ladder, so please take it with a grain of salt. You’re only seeing one part of our plans, and while we do appreciate feedback do please keep that in mind.

You miss the point of why people didn’t like solo queue.

No, I don’t think I missed the point. This is why I clarified, I wasn’t trying to say players hated solo arena (outside what you mentioned). Again, the reasons I mentioned, which at best, are only summary of the team’s reasons. The two big ones (in my mind) were that 1) people wanted a place to play casually with friends, but in a more structured environment than hotjoin. 2) Players had valid criticism of the solo ladder, which would be true for nearly any ladder that is solo in nature because Gw2 PvP is a team game. This is why we shifted away from solo/team to unranked/ranked.

An unranked arena WAS a good idea. I personally enjoy playing there as long as I don’t get spirit watch, skyhammer, or courtyard (alt-f4 is a good way to avoid those). I’m actually ok with the solo queue and team queue being merged as long as 85 percent of my matches are 5 pugs vs 5 pugs. I am NOT ok with it if 50% of the time I am playing people who have queued together.

I’m glad you feel it was a good choice. I’m sorry you’re getting maps you don’t like, but I am happy that people that enjoy those maps still get to play them, all be it rarely. That is not cool that you’re ditching your team just because you didn’t get the map you wanted.

I can look up your account if you want, though most the time people end up surprised the data doesn’t match their perceptions. I really think we should start showing more data to help with this, but I understand the reasons we don’t.

I see you posting in several threads about Rift pvp. So why bother being unconstructive here?
The new system has its merits but it needs tweaking. It’s a test season, so we’ll see tweaks January 13 the latest.
