Still no gems through PvP?
If you have 20/10 people in your guild, it is more than feasible to pitch in $1/$2 a month respectively to 1 paypal account to support your custom arena. They probably will not add any way to get gems through pvp so we just have to deal it it. /qq
Its a business model mistake for the long-term. They could monotize arenas by offering unique cosmetics that can be added to maps, unique skins/color schemes, and/or more attractive search features for your arena (ie pay to be top of the list or add colored text to your server name, etc)

There should be but there isn’t, hence why majority of playerbase stick to PvE because that’s where you earn everything from skins to gems in the actual game itself, (Hearts of mist is 1 zone compared to many PvE zones including homecities). If they added gems there would be much more incentive to actually tPvP.
They do have something called Citadel of Flames, always people camping over there for groups because its the easiest way to earn fast gold, only do part 1 and you’ll get 10 gold an hour per day.
One thing anet doesn’t realize is that the best in pvp only get gems, and the best don’t buy gems because they are the best and have people who worship them and give them free stuff anyways.

I’m well aware of the PvE farming (I have a legendary, full t3 cultural, almost 8 80’s, run with a high level pve guild, etc). Also, it’s about 6 gold per hour.
Nonetheless, doing PvE to PvP sounds quite counter-intuitive. I still reside by my original point; the system is fine, but there should be additional pvp-related rewards (at a substantially less rate) that also support the system. I also don’t think gems just for winning should be rewarded. Even just the RNG of a daily pvp chest that has a chance to include a 1-day support token would be quite welcome (i.e. like 5-10% chance).
Devs said they would be reworking the reward system… soon..
The only thing you get from gems are like.. Chests.. for a chance to get skins.. so I mean.. I’m not too interested..
You have to realize, no gems are being created, someone is buying their gems from anet, and then buying gold with them because they want gold..
There’d be no point in making an influx of gems… their goal is to sell gems.. for money.. not devalue gems.
Ya again, I agree, rewarding gems probably isn’t the best solution (I note that Anet needs to make money), but there needs to be some PvP-focused solution that supports this system, even if just barely (i.e. cash purchase still needed initially, with minimal continued cash funding as long as you have a group of players that pool together and pvp a lot).
I agree with you, we should have gems. Because if you can do cof p1 for an hour and make 10g I don’t see why they don’t give gems or something special from tournament match win chests. In GW1 you got worthwhile rewards from tournament win chests.
I swear this game does everything wrong when it comes to pvp.
-No tournaments (I don’t consider 2 teams a tournament)
-Hotjoin heros get rank faster and titles faster
-No good rewards from tournament (tournament skins are salvaged hence not good)
-Horrible leaderboard system, it should SHOW rating (why the hell they hide it I have no idea, starcraft doesn’t hide there rating)
-Horrible matchmaking
I’m beginning to think it should be like this, you have a pool of players, when someone que’s up whether with friend, premade or solo they enter that pool, people create teams via the pool and then an automated tournament system starts and people can view the tournament system and see how the tournaments are going and who wins against who and who they are about to face. And to view when the next tournament pool will begin by seeing how close the tournament is to ending.
