Has anyone else noticed any issues with stomping? Especially in relation to quickness? But also when no quickness is involved?

What I’m talking about Is where you do a complete stomp. Aren’t interrupted by ANYTHING. And nothing happens.

That’s has happened increasingly often to me over the last couple weeks. And in the game previous to me making this post. EVERY stomp attempt I have made has failed.

There isn’t anything I am doing differently to before. Previously all the various stomp methods I use have worked 100% of the time. Now there failing the vast majority of the time.

Before you respond.

Yes I know that quickness can cause the animation to go off sync. This isn’t the issue. I am 100% certain of that. This is an actual case of the stomp going off COMPLETELY (I mean full non quickness stomp animation timing) and failing even though the target hasn’t been moved. Nor has he done anything that could POSSIBLY interfere.

Yes I know that there are issues where occasionally a players real downed body will be in a different location from where it is animated. I am 90% sure that isn’kitten Because that typically occurs fairly rarely and in some unique circumstances. (dying just at the start of a leap or a teleport for example. Or in the middle of a pull).

I’m at the point where I am literally not even attempting to stomp anymore. Just cleaving and hoping that I can outcleave the guys rezzing him.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Actually this issue is very common if your enemy is lagging. It rarely has anything to do with ileap and more with lag. That enemy’s team mates also won’t be able to Rez them if it is lag.

Again. I am 90% sure that isn’t the issue. As enemy team mates have ZERO trouble rezzing them. What usually happens is I stomp them. Nothing happens. They get rezzed. I get slaughtered in the now 1v2. Or I go down because there team was downcleaving me and I was banking on that kill to lower the pressure.

It’s not a Mesmer right? Lol. Idk I feel like if this was as common as you make it out to be a lot more people would be reporting it. But that is my take on it.

Also yeah that makes sense if their team can Rez then it probably isn’t lag. However there’s no way to be 90% sure it isn’t lag unless you see them rezzing. Which is why I commented that it probably was lag since you didn’t mention in the OP that these downed were being rezzed.

That’s why I made this post to see if anyone else was having this issue before I made it. And no its not a Mesmer haha. Its happened with every professions so far I multiple situations. If someone else has had these issues before I could narrow down the cause by finding out there stomp methods and seeing if there are similarities between the two. As it is it looks like I have a lot of testing I need to do.

This is common. Has been reported for a while. Haven’t seen a single red post.

Quickness+downed Rev=stomp fail 99% of the time…yay. Most of the others could be concluded as one of several desyncs/teles/etc but Rev points to nothing more than a bug.

Are you using the “Allow Target Change” option and changing targets when you are stomping? That will cause stomp failures.

If that’s true that’s a pretty massive issue for me. As a ranger using my pet to dissuade ressers is a big part of my ability to secure a stomp (hard to rez when a bristleback is unloading its f2 into you). And that option is pretty near mandatory for me at this point.

Ill test it in game to see if this caused the problem. If it did. That’s not a good sign for my future matches haha.

This happens to me a lot.

I think it’s relevant to the animation bug. As stomps animation never actually plays right for me.

The thing i learned, is to stand there and not move for an extra second longer.

sometimes that’s enough to get the stomp.

Other times I throw my mouse against a wall, because now I’m being 2 v 1’d by the scrapper I downed and the rev that came to try and save him.

I have the same thing happen all the time. It’s not every player but it happens intermittently.

I can’t stomp them but I can damage them to death. I can stomp over and over and over and nothing happens but all of my skills work just fine.

It’s a problem…some people in this thread just made up some complete B.S. trying to explain it away.

Happened to me (Warrior main) very often after the introduction of the new trait system. First I thought it’s only quickness related but then I also experienced without quickness involved. The character stomp animation finishes, even the finisher animation is sometimes shown but the target not dead.

Didn’t have it very often anymore the last 1-2 months but encountered it again yesterday. Downed a Guardian in a 1vs2, stomped without quickness, finished the stomp (stability up) but Guradian wasn’t dead and ressed by the other enemy. Lost the point and thus the match that was close until then.

Exactly this,
Now every time I try to stomp, I hold still for few seconds after the animation finished, thinking maybe I had quickness, or slow, and didn’t see it …

But, often the stomp don’t land afterall.

I wonder if it might be connected to FPS at all.

I know generally “fixing your timestep” is the first thing a game developer should fix.
But it does leave me curious.

I usually have 144 fps in PvP. Perhaps if I cap it at 60 I might end up with different results.

Idk, I’ll try it after work and see what happens.
