While that does work (most of the time unless it’s a cluster kitten), being able to bind them do different buttons would be extremely useful.

stomp downed opponent
revive downed ally
pick up spirit ball

different key binds, please.

or like i said make the next ally button actually do something so you can actually target allies without spam clicking in vain

This would require to much mechanical skill, I don’t see this happening. Just like allowing rangers to control all of their pets skills.
