No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
Anet, i’m getting tired that you destroy the ‘immersion’ feel of the game by making certain skills super silent, rather then their true nature would be: loud.
Examples: Engineer bombs/grenades
Orbital strike
Elementalist now fireball.
Traps of guardian
Chaos storm
Spatial surge
Cluster bomb
Etc.
Even in wvw (much much worse then in pvp) the sound ‘explosion’ never bothered me. On the contrary, it makes it feel like a true battlefield, true to it’s fantasy lore/magic.
A game with good graphics, but bad music, is bad for me. Same for game with super music, but bad graphics. Why? Immersion. They both need each other. Skill effects fall also under this. Kill the sound and you create a mario ‘all ages allowed’ version rather then guild ‘WARS’ game.
I know you want all sounds to be equal in pvp. Fine, for tournements, etc, you can implement it. But leave it alone in the rest of game. Or give players chance to use the old version (add it to F11 option panel).
So pvp devs stop destroying the pve/wvw immersion, thanks… This is not the correct way to push pvp. If you improve pvp, never do it at the cost of what makes gw2 great. Something you clearly did here. I hope the overlords (game designers) put pvp ‘I want to change everything’-devs in their place, cause they shouldnt be able to destroy the game this much.
I wouldnt make such a big point of this, if the ‘current version’ would still be immersive. But they arent. They are superior silent. Try using a bomb, and turn your camera view a bit away from your character. You almost don’t hear the wind moving when it explodes. Way to silent.
There’s plenty of skills in the game that still retained their cool, and ‘loud enough’ nature, that i’m getting very scared that you will overhaul them too. Wich is lame. The profession designers, sound designers etc, they had something in mind. They worked hard for it. And nerfing it a year later, doesn’t make it right. Not even for pvp ‘e-sport’, if you even could call it that. If you nerf all of them, I will probably quit the game. It’s one of these small things, that could greatly impact my experience on the game. I just can’t play without proper magic/explosion immersion. If you nerf it even further.
I know a lot of pvp players don’t care, or will probably disagree strongly. I don’t mind. This post is purely meant to waken up the pvp devs destroying pve immersion.
The changes went right over your head m8, the noise that’s being spoken about is visual clutter, not audible noise.
Every time they mentioned a ‘noise’ nerf, the noise was actual nerfed ingame. Play the game, and you’ll see.
Orbital strike noise was trimmed down 50-80% after the patch notes mentioned ‘noise’ reduction. Maybe you didn’t notice?
